      pros: cheap tv
      cons: cheap tv

      L:O:L

  • Warranty? are they trustworhty? how would returns go if it ends up being trash

    • +2

      http://stores.ebay.com.au/Futu-Online/Return.html

Have to post it yourself, no postage refunds.
I might still go for it, but it feels risky

        Refunded returns by Paypal

        • aaaand sold. Thanks

        • $45 limit.
I thought PayPal refund was good for DOA, but not warranty repair later?

        • @manic:

As long as your refund request is in line with the seller’s return policy, you’re eligible for a refund on your return shipping.

        • @manic:

          Use sendle :)

        • @joshuah: Or e-go couriers.

    • Warranty is in home so pretty decent.

  • Wonder how this would perform as a pc display

    • +1

There are two main things you are looking for, if it's to be a good PC display - 4K@60Hz with 4:4:4 colour, and an input lag of <30ms.

Neither get mentioned in the manual, which suggests both don't happen on this screen.

      • You forgot the third: display port input. Unfortunately rare on a tV.

Does this really accept 120 Hz?
I very much doubt it. Interpolated maybe.

        • +2

IIRC HDMI 2.0 will do 4K@60Hz with 4:4:4 colour

        • @sane:
          How many PCs have hdmi2?
Unfortunately, Google is telling me that TV's with DP are even rarer than I thought. Sorry I brought it up.

        • +1

          @manic: wasabi mango uhd550

        • @manic:

Quite a lot of the new cards will do HDMI 2.0 apparently, including GTX950 & RX460. Seems to be hitting the integrated graphics too.

Certainly easier than finding a TV with displayport.

        • @furythree: i have a wasabi mango 43 inch and im using it as a pc monitor. for the specs and the price, this will last me well until the next upgrade in a few years time. no complaints, and i definitely think this tv is just a rebranded wasabi mango

        • @DarthAntz: which 43 inch did you get? i heard there were updated models with the 43 inch and some had issues

does this tv have the same specs as the WM and suitable for PC usage?

        • @manic: 15 pin VGA is more common. Surely an adapter sorts this out

        • @Jackson: You're joking right?

        • @McFly:

He got me thinking though - it looks like active DP-> HDMI2 4k/60Hz adapters are starting to appear, and under $100.

        • +1

          @manic: Interesting. How about $40+del? 😏
          https://www.amazon.com/Club3D-Displayport-1-2-HDMI-CAC-1070/…
Wonder if added latency is noticeable.

        • @McFly: No

        • @furythree: I got the UHD430 i20. i use it for PC usage and game off my 980gtx with no issues. get a reasonable hdmi 2.0 cable. for under $500, its decent. TV menus are awful, but if you are only going to plug it in and use it as it is, then go for it. i cannot get 10bit working in windows 10, it might be my gfx card. im playing 2-4 year old games in 4k and not having any qualms. i do miss my old 144hz monitor, but im not going to get that in 4k at this size for this price.

        • @DarthAntz: is the "i20" the newer one or the original one? what are all the different versions?

Im using a DP cable it works awesome, except for that bug where everything moves to the left monitor if you have multiple like me after wake from sleep

i thought these didnt really support 10bit? in nvidia settings you select "Full" under colour options and that seems to work for me. i just dont know how to test whether its actually working

would you say this deal is the same monitor as yours and mine? i dont mind getting a second at this ridiculous price

        • @furythree: its your money. be happy with what youve got before you think about upgrading. I cant select 10 bit, might be the video card. i doubt i:ll be able to tell the difference. i20 is the newer one, not much difference. if i were you i:d wait until august and see if they put HDR in the same builds.

        • @DarthAntz: ah keep forgetting about HDR!

        • @Jackson: VGA is 30 years old - slightly before the age of UHD…

        • @McFly: Oh I see, I wasn't suggesting that you would find VGA, just pointing out that even VGA is more common on TVs than DVI :-) VGA doesn't really have a hard limit, it depends on a number of factors.

      • is this real 120fps or interpolated?

i already have a wasabi mango 55" that does 4k60hz with 444 colour and low input lag but i paid $1200 for mine plus taxes, at this price id jump on it for a second one in a hearbeat

        • If you know of any TV at this price - or indeed any price - that has >60Hz input let me know.

        • +1

i would say it is 60hz with BFI. so 120Hz is marketing.

        • @FarQ: whats BFI

would i be able to play games at 120hz or would it create input lag

        • @furythree: BFI = Black Frame Insertion. See here: https://www.cnet.com/au/news/ultra-hd-4k-tv-refresh-rates/
          https://www.cnet.com/au/news/fake-refresh-rates-is-your-tv-r…
          https://www.cnet.com/au/news/black-frame-insertion-busting-b…
I would doubt you could get this tv running at 4k @120Hz. It is more likely 1080P @120Hz, which is marketing. Sure it is a 120Hz panel, but read the fine print and it will be 120Hz @ 1080P.

        • @FarQ: in the tv settings there is pc mode and view mode, which is the difference between 60hz and 120hz. i cant notice a difference or anything good about this setting. previously on my asus 144hz monitor it was more clear that a higher refresh rate was active. 120hz in a lot of tvs is just marketing jargon.

        • @FarQ: just as i thought, fake hertz

          thanks for explaining

        • Cant believe thats a real brand. Thought you were joking for a sec

        • @Hahuh: its real and its good

if u wanted a widescreen for PC usage, theres a new one out thats using a samsung panel that even samsung hasnt released a product for yet

    • This is too big IMO, picked up the 48" from the other week and it's actually the limit of what is use able without turning your head along way, and you don't really want the increase in dot pitch that comes with a 55 at the same res. More so than turning your head if you are sitting close you can't see the top corners that we'll with the TV on a desk

The way I see it the 48" is the equivalent of 2x2 FHD monitors which isn't totally uncommon

  • +1

Aldi TV might be a but easier with returns.

    • Are they available at Aldi again?

      • Got one last week. I think they bring them in every month.

  • Nice deal, this one better then last months JVC 48" from BigW or similar?

  • Previous deal $499+del
    Spec's

    3D de-interface Yes

    Looks like it converts 3D back to 2D - 3D de-inyaface anyone?

  • +1

Lol at 4k. These types of displays / price illustrate how useless it is in determining a good panel.
