Biochef Living Food Blender Was $699 (RRP $499) Now $150 @ David Jones

670

Found this bargain at David Jones (chadstone) whilst shopping for a blender for my mother in law.

They have plenty in stock and even the staff members were in shock at the price.
Did some quick research and people report it to rival the vitamix in blending capabilities.

Good discount but was it ever worth 700?

  • Someone swapped the stickers ?

    • +1

Nope! I ended up buying 2 after I had only bought one.

System scanned for that much and they said it's because it's discontinued stock. They still have heaps left in the back

  • Not online.

Pretty sure it will be gone by tomorrow.

Many OZ bargainers will hunt for it.

Banging on about micro nutrients…It s just an massively overpriced blender with an led control. So what? The jug is not even glass, the brand just going after the high price sticker thermomix/Dyson market without any particular reason or merit.
Seems like a marketing wank to me.

    • +8

      I love a good marketing wank😯

      • +5

Ha ha yes, I am being quite cynical but this thing leaves me unimpressed. No disrespect intended to to the op, the sticker reduction is large but I think that rrp is baloney.
Any company that describes the device's normal accessories as "free gifts" is showing a distinctly Demtel-level of marketing bulldust.
It's a blender with a plastic jug and a gimmicky control panel.
        $150?, I think not.

        • +4

There is definitely about $500 worth of wank built into the price, and the lack of glass jug seems a bit average, but it does come with a heating element, as far as I can see - something that you don't normally get in your sub-$150 blenders.

        • It's devon around these parts

        • @johnno07:
I don't think it has a heating element. It's not in the specs anyway. I the heat might come from the friction from the blades. Looks like a Vitamix copy, blades and cogs look very similar. Plenty of Vitamix copies out there for $90-$100 but without LED display and no thermometer in the plunger.

        • @42:

There is a heating element as you can make hot soup with it (there's to make it hot)

        • @SevenSmurfs:
I think the heat comes from the friction generated by running the blender for a long time rather than an actual heating element (6 min in the video). From what I can see there's no element in the jug or the motor base and its not in the specs. As you can see from this Vitamix video

      • never gonna view my blender contents the same again!!

      • Does it have to be a marketing one?

  • +5

$150 is a nice price… but it was never worth 699… RRP is 499

  • F*^# me dead! Is this typical of the mark-up on small kitchen appliances?

    • +2

They would still be making profit on it. it's not like they are selling it at a loss

    • I imagine so!

    Homeopathy Blender?

Anyone get their 7c duffel bags?

    • Yes! I did, arrived last week :)

      • really?

        • Yes, ordered multiple and had it delivered to me. Got charged $0.1 per bag instead of $0.07. I think they just rounded it.

        • @neilpatrickharris: wow, have not got mine. No call, no refund, no nothing

    • Got one for 7c. I had another discounted bag in my order. C&C

  • Does it have 1 horse power

  • +1

    Can it blend an iPhone?

  • Is this better than the ninja duo blender?

    • Yup, most high power blenders are - which this one is.

  • wonder if anyone bought this at original price & reading this deal now!

    • +8

Anymore who pays $700 for a blender wouldn't read ozbargain.

      • +3

Looks like you guys have never heard of Vitamix. :)

  • +8

    Do I want it?

    Yes

    Do I need it?

    No

F*** it I'll buy it anyways
  • +1

Are you sure you can fit your mother in law in it?

    • +1

      Yes*

      *requires prior preparation.

  • Might grab one if there are any left later today.

  • Still expensive for a blender with a plastic jug.

    • +2

Are there any high power blenders with glass jugs? Didn't think so as they claim they would break?

  • +1

Also Available at djs in Melbourne cbd

    • yep should be available Aus wide as it came up as the price on the system

  • +1
    • Haha that's Chadstone right, may be sold out there, I believe I grabbed the last boxed one and a lady then took the display model one she probably got another $20 off. Was there right on 9am.

      • OP said plenty

        • You gotta ask for it. They grab it from the back

EDIT: oh maybe its all gone from chadstone now

  • +1

Thanks OP, grabbed the last one in Canberra, $135 as display

  • Went in DJ Chadstone and the rep told me there was a guy went in and bought all of them after the store had just been opened in the morning.

  • Went to DJ Garden City (Perth WA) and they had few more in stock at around 10 am (at least 3-4 more boxes were there).
Funny thing it was priced at 449-499 (Can't remember exactly).
When I ask if she could get it scanned as I found it online at 150 she just replied: "Noooo Wayyyy, this is already a very good price as it was 699" :)
After 150 popped up on her screen she was just astonished, she just couldn't believe it…
Of course, I grabbed one :)

    • +1

lol pretty much the same reaction when I initially purchased it yesterday when purchasing for mother in law.

The ozbargainer in me made me go back and buy another for myself with some buyers remorse :)

  • Many thanks! Got the last one at DJ Garden city, Perth.

  • RRP is crazy. Looks reasonable at current price.

  • +1

I just came back from DJ. Still have 3 boxes available adding 1 on display.

    • Which store?

      • Karrinyup,WA.
