I don't think those that buy Vitamix are quite right in the head or at least probably shouldn't be hanging around ozb. Even OEM no brands from China with similar specs can be bought at around $50. Bear in mind the tech behind these are really old now, so much so the patents held by Vitamix expired long ago. Most of their patents were lodged around 2010 and all I see now is a company that has failed to innovate and is just living off their brand name built in the past.
Patents last 20 years though?
I mean, you say this but it seems that despite failing to innovate, their competitors have failed to do so either.
See this video by Project Farm.I have a Vitamix that I've used daily for the last 15 or so years (no, I didn't pay $492 for it) for smoothies, nut butter, and even soup. I've used a few cheapie blenders over the years, but the Vitamix is a step above. The motor is very strong, base solid as a rock, and everything is bullet proof. While I've never needed it, their support is also industry-leading. It's a solid 'prosumer' pick if you regularly blend. I'd rather own one BIFL blender than a bunch of future e-waste.
Then compare it with this which will do everything the Vitamix can do https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006043657427.html?pdp_ex…
Dont own that one :/
Do you, if so whats your rating haha ?
@TerryJustTerry: I've got one which is almost identical which I bought 5-6 years ago. Still going strong.
@Aleigh123: Apart from the usual shakes, I've made soups where you blend various nuts and vegetables, set it at high speeds where it will actually cook them into soups within minutes. There are quite a few recipe books for soups floating around for commercial blenders.
@clubhonda: How does it do with the nuts? Does it give you a smooth consistency? Or is there still some gritty bits left?
@Aleigh123: Very smooth, basically soup consistency. If you want a bit more granular consistency, you can chuck that in a bit later I find.
These are noisy, but really good: this type of design is strong and powerful. We have one similar.
Needs to perform 10 geisha techniques for 500 bucks
Decent chunk off MSRP but far from the all-time low (~$310) and quite a bit higher than the ~$410 mark that it drops down to relatively frequently.
I bought this one the other day - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08CDBSX7F
Nigh on identical. Is the Vitamix 5x as good?
Just because it looks similar doesn't mean it will have the same quality and perform just as well. It's horses for courses though. As with anything in this overpriced world we live in, you get what you pay for.
ours stopped working after 2 years. should really contact them.
started with swtich being temperamental… just won't blend.. but powers on.
Is it 17x better than this one?
