  • Historic Amazon low price.

  • At what point does SSD speed make no difference in normal use? The intel 600p is fast for me.

  • Shopping Express will have this for $399 + free shipping from 11PM the 26th. That'll be the cheapest
    Only 20 available though.
    Shopping Express Boxing Day sale

200x EVO one as well !

    • Cheapest local stock you mean. This is $380 AUD. But the 20 units will be snapped up pretty quick.

Just looked at SE boxing day deals. Those RRPs are way inflated. The 960 EVO's RRP is listed as $449 which is bull. Its RRP is $349, and CPL has it at $319 right now, not limited in qty.

They have a 200GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSD for $99 with RRP at $499. ROFL.

  • Is this a better deal? http://cplonline.com.au/hard-drives/ssd/samsung-mz-n6e500bw-…
    $319 for a Samsung 960 500gb M.2 drive.

    • Was $346 recently.

      That was 950 Pro.

EDIT: Lol, quick on ninja edit.

    • That's the Samsung 960 Evo. The deal from Amazon UK is Samsung 960 Pro.

      Comparison review here:
      http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2016/11/hands-on-samsung-960-pro-a…

960 Evo has a 3 year warranty, and is very fast.
960 Pro has a 5 year warranty, and is a bit faster.

My advice would be to go for the $319 960 Evo unless you know why you need the 960 Pro.

      • +1

The difference in speed will be imperceptible. The difference in price isn't. The EVO is better value and will be more popular, as was the case with the 850.

Samsung SSDs have a reliable track record. In 5 years if the Pro dies, you're going to want a 990 (or 1010 if they go up by 10 every year) 2TB-3TB which might be around the same price. 500GB will be considered too small by then if you're a gamer. I'm already pushing the boundry with 500GB, though I can still make it work.

  • Not knowing much about SSDs, what is a good price for a 256gb M.2? Or even a 128GB?

  • I have a £10.00 Gift card balance for some reason. I've no idea where that came from. I know there was an Amazon DE Mastercard promo for 10 EUR. Don't know about Amazon UK.

I'm tempted to just pull the trigger, even though the rational side of me says the EVO is better value and can be obtained locally. ARGH.

EDIT: The trigger has been pulled. $355.82 AUD delivered. GRRR. That's how much a new PS4 Pro costs with the Myrepublic gamer deal. Which I'll also be getting because… I'm weak. My poor wallet.
