  • and 10 euro off for those who got it with the mastercard deal from the other day

    • I used that 10 Euro deal the other day and still don't understand what the hell I signed up for!

  • +2

    This is better.

You do lose 12GB, but it's faster and local stock. Not even the cheapest price available. I just picked them because they're close to my house.

You cant really compare the pro model with evo

Local price for the same model is $415 here

    • +9

You're right, they don't compare. The 960 EVO is faster than the 950 Pro, so it makes sense to buy the 960 evo local for less than the price of this 950 Pro.

      • +1

If you're paying $415 locally for a 950 Pro when a newer and superior product is available cheaper, you're a fool. Samsung skipped the EVO range for the 950. Had they done a 950 EVO, that would have been a better analog to the 960 EVO. It also means Samsung loses a lot of 950 PRO sales which are more profitable than the EVO line I presume.

Paying more for a last gen Pro over a current gen EVO which outperforms it, would be like buying a Kepler GTX Titan over a cheaper GTX 970 which outperforms the Titan and is much cheaper.

        • Crap. I meant GTX1070 not 970 in my analogy. Fail.

The 1070 outperforms the 980 and Titan, and costs less.

Wait for a deal on a 960 EVO if you want faster speed for lower price.

  • Nice but I'm waiting for the 960 Pro 512GB for $399 plus shipping on Boxing Day from ShoppingExpress.

    • I get a feeling a lot of their BD specials will get ozbargained quick. I hope they take backorders.

  • Thanks OP.

    I'd like to see another bug-priced 8TB 7200rpm drive.

    • Id like to see them honour it!! Very annoyed at amazon ! I wanted that HDD -.-

      • Did you order and got cancelled?

        • Just checked my account too and the order is missing. No email or anything.

          EDIT: Nevermind. Got this email;

  • Having had 2 of these drives, yeah, they're great and they bench fast, but not enough to notice the benefit real world.
If anyone is after a fast drive and has less cash to spare consider the intel 600P for ~ $230 - $240
Not as fast as this on paper, but still incredibly fast for the money and you won't notice the difference.

    • The low endurance of the 600P sounds a bit worrying: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-600p-series-ssd-re…

      • Wouldn't worry me, intel have a history of under speccing and playing it safe with SSD's.
In the early days when everyone else had firmware issues intel was the only safe choice.
They're still a safe bet until i actually see evidence of failures in the wild.

::edit:: after further reading it looks like they had the same endurance rating for different capacities, which is clearly wrong as wear scales with capacity.
In the end the endurace is on par with competing products, so nothing to see here.

        Quote from THG -

The new endurance rating and good-enough performance, in tandem with the excellent price point, goes a long way to solidifying the Intel 600p's position at the front of the value-NVMe class.
