can use wish card to purchase??? :)

    • +1

Yes, I bought $50 from Caltex Northmead, NSW for $47.50 last night using my WISH Card.

      Maths:

Purchase $95 WISH Card via CR for $90.25

Purchase $100 Caltex Card for $95 using WISH Card

$9.75 Savings - 10.8% of added value before vouchers.

incl 4c/L WW Voucher and thats 12-15%* off
spend $5 instore (ie/ a slab of water) additional 4c/L off and thats 16-19%* off.

      *depending on price of fuel.

I'm not sure I can see the advantage to these over eWish cards, which can also be used for fuel and are regularly available for 5%+ discount from Cashrewards etc?

I guess the only difference is that these can be used for Caltex-only stores, which might be useful for those without a Caltex-Woolies nearby, but that obviously means you can't stack with the 4c discount vouchers from Woolies

if i am not wrong, this star cash can only use for 98 octane… pls correct me if i am wrong.

Can be used for any fuel in my experience.

  • Is Woolworths selling E10 yet?

    • Probably depends on the state you're in. They've been selling E10 in NSW for years.

      • Thanks, just checked online. E10 isn't available in Victoria.
E10 at my local is usually 5 to 10 cents a litre cheaper than Woolworths unleaded.
Can't wait til 2018 when I take delivery of my Tesla Model 3 - never again will I visit a petrol station!!

    • Is E10 as good as or better than 91? My car manufacturer says use U91 but E10 is always cheaper. I've also heard that cheaper petrol means higher consumption rate.

      • You get a bit less km's with E10. I read that it needs to be approx 4-5c per litre cheaper to work out better value in terms of price to km ratio

      • -1

The E10 I buy is actually 95 octane. So actually less consumption rate & less CO2. Unfortunately, more rainforest destruction & butchered Orangutans. Long range, mass market electric vehicles can't come sooner……

        • -1

nope. higher octane has to do with detonation not the energy density of the fuel. ethanol has a lower energy density than petrol, you get worse mileage with it.

          http://www.carsguide.com.au/car-reviews/unleaded-vs-e10-the-…

here's one test a quick google turned up. at the standard 2c a litre cheaper e10 is worse value for money than standard unleaded.

  • Where do you get this information from? cant see from the link.

  • Please correct me if I am wrong but I believe not all Woolworths sites take the Star Card so might need to confirm otherwise…

My local Caltex is non-WW, so this would be good for me, instead of driving miles to use WW egift cards.
Starcash is full price on the web site. How did you know that it was 5% off in store? Was there a promo sign or something? If so, any chance of uploading a photo so that we know what to look out for?

    • +1

Sign says 5%. Promo ends in Feb.

      • Does it expire on 7th Feb?

        • Sounds familiar. You need to check though if they have larger denominations in advance as most don't.

    • +1

Yes, there is a 5% off sign at the registers and outside near the pumps. You can purchase any type of fuel with no restrictions.

      • Does it really expire on 7th Feb?

  • they've been some talks about caltex buying out the woolworths petrol stations .. if this happens i guess this would be a good deal. But if it does happen i dont think it'll be anytime soon!!

Advantages of using this i suppose is that you can make use of earning myer one points with your petrol.
Thats only if you dont have spare 4c vouchers to use

    • Nope. Bp are buying the stations lol
