[iOS/Android] Ticket to Ride 70% off for a Limited Time $1.99USD / $2.69USD

60

If you're a fan of Ticket to Ride, you may know that the old App is now unsupported, and asks you to migrate to the new version. The new version costs AUD$7.99. I received an email from their newletter today with the following:

"If you’re looking for Ticket to Ride on Apple, Google, or Steam, you’ll find it for 70% off as a holiday special beginning on December 16th for Apple/Google, and for 75% off beginning December 22nd for Steam.
In addition, Ticket to Ride is now available for Android TV. We hope you’ll enjoy digital Ticket to Ride, whether it's during your holiday travels or cozied up at home relaxing by the fire!"

The ios version is now AUD$2.99. There are, of course, expansions, available from $1.49 to $9.99 (not on special, obviously). I was not interested in buying the new standard version at $7.99, but I will definitely be buying it for $2.99.

There is not discount code required.

the old App is now unsupported

That's terrible. How do we know they won't also do that to the new app?

    • Trust? Is that even a thing these days? I really don't know, however this is just fairly new update, so I assume it will be supported by the company for a fair while. And for $2.99, I'm certainly happy to get my money's worth of playing this game over summer.

      Agreed, disappointing.
Does DLC from the old app carry over?

      • I don't know. I haven't had a chance to play it yet.

This app was first released in 2011, so it's not really new but has had some major upgrades along the way. Unfortunately back then universal apps weren't quite as common so they had an iPhone and an iPad release. The iPad release last year became their lead platform and was made a universal app where the iPhone one had content made available via IAP. Clearly they've decided to shift all focus to a single release and the historically iPad focused version was the one that won out.

It sucks, but if you had the iPad version from way back in 2011 then there's no impact and you haven't been forced to repurchase the app. Ideally back in 2011 they'd have shipped a universal version and this would have avoided the issue today.

      • Thanks for the clarification. Ihave both, but the DLC maps are on iPad.

        • Awesome. You should be able to install that same version that is currently on the iPad on the iPhone and then choose to restore the purchases.

AFAIK the old app was replaced November 2015 and you could switch to the new one for free if you had paid for the old one.

Or has it changed again again?

    • From my experience, they asked me to re-purchase.
