    • Hey @lachlan1. We aren't selling the leather watch straps individually. We have one per watch so there aren't any spare. Sorry. Good luck with your search!

Hi, just wondering if the watch's protective glass is scratch resistant? or just normal glass.

    • Hi @Skadoosh, the watch's glass is mineral glass (normal glass). If it helps, my wife's a classroom teacher, wears hers everyday and doesn't have a single scratch on it.

      • So add that to your description.

Clearly trying to cash in on the Daniel Wellington hype. The design is very similar.

I seriously doubt you will be able to sell any at your RRP which I could get an automatic watch with leather strap for.

    • Links to some auto watches?

I like the white dial 39mm Skmei 9083 that has a separate seconds hand & date window for approx $10.15 delivered

    • +5

Hi @28Degrees, thanks for the suggestion. Aside from design and price, just pointing out the key differences between Skmei 9083 and W Time for OzBargainers:
      - We offer a 2 year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship (Skmei 9083 don't offer a warranty)
      - Our watches use Genuine Italian Calf Leather (Skmei 9083 uses PU leather which is fake leather)
      - We ship from Melbourne, Australia so delivery time will be a lot quicker from us 2-5 days (Skmei 9083 takes 15-30 working days)

      • +1

That's fair enough, I guess potential buyers need to weigh up whether those things are worth the extra money.
After all this is still a basic quartz fashion watch from China, not much different to what you can buy on Aliexpress for $10.00 or less -

        $5.42 Delivered
        Kevin Watch
        Sinobi $10.84 Delivered

        • True it's a basic quartz watch but I would caution people on buying very inexpensive watches through Alibaba etc.

During our supplier selection process, we had samples made for 1/5 the cost of our W Time watches through other manufacturers. The materials and build quality of those cheaper watches was much lower. We did a drop test on them from 1 meter and most broke apart immediately.

Manufacturing a watch with stainless steel, quality movement, genuine leather band and good build quality costs a lot more.

This is why we pay a premium manufacturing cost for W Time watches.

        • @PJC: Hi @PJC, if you'd like to suggest another word for a movement that consistently works as it should where other cheaper options often don't, i'd be happy to consider using that word to describe it. Cheers

          @wtime:
          Read your comment.

It thanked me for suggesting an image of the watch's movement, which you still leave prospective customers guessing about.

          Read my comment.
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4262321/redir
It reminds you prospective customers like to know what they would get for their money. You still haven't disclosed which quality steel is used for the case.

If you'd like to suggest a word for a vendor that consistently fails to learn when others do, I'd be happy to consider using that word to describe you. Cheers.

        • @PJC: Thanks for the reminder and I do thank you for your suggestions.

The watch case is 316L steel. My apologies for not providing that information.

I've asked our manufacturer to send a series of images showing the back of the watch based on your suggestion. As soon as I have those images, i'll post them up.

          Thanks.

@wtime: "The watch case is 316L steel."
That too needs to be in your description. If I had been informed, I would have included that in my own.

        • @wtime: You may as well declare what the dials are actually made of, since a member assures us his Daniel Wellington's dial consisted of paper:-
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4217827/redir

        • @PJC: We haven't actually had that question before. I'll confirm the material and come back to you.

  • These are well made watches at this price considering they're local and nicely boxed, it's not fair to compare them to the cheapest possible watches on aliexpress, they're more in line with something like Burei which cost US$26 from aliexpress with the one month plus shipping time or $35USD from amazon. It comes down to design preference, and hounding them for RRP is unfair all quartz watches have very inflated RRP even those from well known brands like Timex or Seiko.

    • Thanks @coolhand

These are well made watches at this price considering they're local

This comment is misleading as the watches aren't made in Australia, they have been imported from China.

Skmei and Sinobi are good quality brand name Chinese watches that have a following on Watchuseek threads like -
      Best of Aliexpress
$20 or Less, Let's See Them

They are not the cheapest possible & simply cost less because there is no middle man importing them into Australia & selling them at a mark up to cover extra costs related to running a business in Aus. while still making a profit.
Point taken about the real leather band, but buyers can always buy an aftermarket band later on.

Another brand that gets good reviews is the -
      Megir 2011 - $22.58 delivered
See my post here for reviews & more info.

I meant local in terms of shipping times, I have one of the watches you have mentioned and I'm aware of the quality, but you're not comparing a like-for-like product. Find me cheaper watches of the same quality with design similar to the W shipping from Australia, then your complaints are valid..

        • Which watches do you have?

This site is called Ozbargain, not Ozfastestshipping. I am just providing better value alternatives & backing it up with links to reviews from the biggest Watch Forum site in the world to help fellow Professionals decide if this deal is for them or not.

Aliexpress has reviews also from buyers, we are yet to see any reviews from wtime.

        • +1

@28Degrees: I have the Megir chrono, which sells on aliexpress for AUD$28.30, similar quality and not a huge difference from the price of this watch. Shipping direct from China of course it would be less expensive, but even then the design is not the same arguably this minimalist design is more sophisticated

        • @coolhand: So do you mean the Megir 2011 that I linked to for $22.58 & also sold for $16.03 with a nato strap?
It was also available for $13.37 delivered

Do you own a wtime watch like the ones posted in this deal?

        • +2

@28Degrees: gearbest is trash, look at the comments of any of the deals numerous cases of orders just never coming, I had 1 take over two months and another just never arrive from gearbest, never again. Ali is slow but at least you always get the item.
But yes same watch and have a wtime. A well made watch for less than $50 is a deal in my books, and I was unable to find a similarly well built quartz with a minimalist face for less, remember any watch in this price range is a fashion watch so the style is the most important factor along with build which is also a little better than the megir

        • @coolhand: Gearbest have been fine for me, I have ordered lots of things from them over the years and it usually comes in about 2 weeks. You're always going to get more comments about bad experiences than good on the internet, plus it's obvious from recent posts that they are trying a lot harder to do better.
          They have Paypal anyway.

So your own comment says that a the Megir 2011 that has sold for as low as $13.37 with a nato strap, working date & sub-dials is similar quality to this wtime watch selling for $39.75 with a leather strap.
Are you seeing my point now?

I was unable to find a similarly well built quartz with a minimalist face for less

What about the Sinobi 9140 - Aliexpress starts @ $10.45 delivered eBay starts @ $9.50 delivered

        • +1

@28Degrees: I'm not my point was always that it is not a like-for-like product
          - I wouldn't risk buying off gearbest if I needed an item within three months, it may not arrive yes you will get a refund after two months but then have to re order. There is no way to get the Megir within a week or two
          - The nato strap on the megir isn't that good and neither is the leather strap compared to this watch, a decent leather strap alone costs $10-$20.
          - And importantly I wouldn't consider any of the alternatives you have listed offer a similar style to this watch. The logo and hands on the shinobi look terrible, doesn't take much to entirely ruin the style of a watch that has very few elements and having not owned one I can't say for sure, but cannot imagine the strap is that good either

        • +1

@coolhand: Your initial point was that these are well made watches at this price, which I never argued with, I just linked to better value alternatives.

I guess I'm not too focused on the strap as much as you when buying a cheap watch, if it lasts 6 months to a year I would be happy then buy something better. All straps wear out eventually and I can't imagine the leather one on the wtime watch being worth $20.

How much did you pay for the wtime watch?

        • @coolhand: 28Degrees is knowledgeable enough to have effectively closed the loophole on topping up CC back in 2014, so even if you have coolhand you'd still incur the cash advance fee so don't go to war with him.

Anyway fashion style is subjective so each to their own. At $39.75 this is starting to look like the real RRP so this Ozbargain deal is only okei. Definitely don't swoon over the 75% off lol

        • +1

@28Degrees: different strokes I guess, if I was wearing a fashion watch I want it to look good and feel good on the wrist.

          $159 ;)

        • +1

@coolhand: You know you could have bought an automatic Orient Symphony 2 with sapphire glass for approx $140 (US$99 + $5) delivered.

        • @28Degrees: coolhand is female. Definitely a different stroke.

        • +2

@28Degrees: haha I paid $48 shipped and it was a gift - I am a dude, just trying to lighten the discussion a bit. We obviously have contrasting opinions on this watch.

        • +3

@coolhand: No kidding, I know you aren't that stupid.
I just like linking to good value watch deals.

OP how come you were not bothered to add to the title/description that the watches are for womens only?

Btw are you friends with the guys from The Sunday Co? You two have a very similar approach to business. Both are Australian no doubt.

    • I nearly added that last time, but unisex watches are popular now and the grey one is not a bad look for some chaps, except I suppose for the colourful seconds hand.

    • Hi @sky blu, as PJC said it's difficult to classify our watches as women/female only. Much as females are our target market, I prefer to let each customer make a personal decision about whether the watch is for them or not.

I haven't heard of The Sunday Co and don't know anyone from that business. Just checked out their website though and they have some nice sunglasses.
