gosh i wish the dial wasn't so tacky. the marlin was a great watch, something more subtle would've got me interested.

FYI - This watch is small at 34mm diameter & requires hand winding to run.

You can buy an Orient Bambino for around the same price or less which has an automatic movement.

Or there's a Bulova 41mm auto for $249 delivered in the Starbuy weekend sale.

      • Roman numerals are poo, but some people may love them.

Not bad options, a 38mm Bambino would be nice, then the next price bracket is Seiko presages for about $350-400.

          Roman numerals are poo

As you said, some will like them & some won't. I guess that's why there are so many different watches.

          Maybe you'd prefer this.

haha, never gets old mate! It is growing on me I must admit!!

  • Bugger! Can't claim sales tax, missed it by 0.04 cents.

If I saw somebody wearing this I’d assume they’d received it for free with a New Yorker subscription.

Looks fun but yeah too expensive and reading the time from 3 to 9 would be dubious. I'd get the Marlin jet 38mm, never cheap. Timex are fun for half price (I tap out at about $300 for that brand).

  • +2

Not for me, I need all the numbers 1 to 12, otherwise I have to concentrate too much to read the time!

Agree, if you can't read at a quick glance it's pointless and becomes jewellery.

These ones are much better (if they ever go half price)

Yeh, this one's a better deal, also an automatic. It's slightly big for my wrist though.

I’ve got that one, bought it from Watch Direct for less during after Christmas sales. If you can get the first-time discount at The Iconic that would be a great price. Fantastic watch, very approachable size, great retro styling, and I like the acrylic crystal for its warmth. Would recommend.

        • Yeah not bad, still seems expensive.
Not a huge fan of the boxed numbers either.

I got this 39.5mm Irish coffee for $389, my only dress watch, worn it once. They have gone back up in price to $450 now, may not do me arse on it if I ever sell, haha.

@G-rig: I really like the Matcha one in that collection. But that's a limited edition and long gone.

            • @randomuser5436: Yeah I'm usually late to the party but also want a heavy discount. The US website works out better usually (if you know someone there), and 15% signup (but for full priced items). That brownish one is nice though.
