I signed up with Godaddy initially because of the low initial cost, but it's the renewal that matters. Not to mention that Godaddy want payment in exchange for not publishing all your contact information online. Other registrars provide privacy protection for free (e.g. Gandi).

  • Not working for me :(

  • Thanks, used it!

  • Correct me if I'm wrong but it might only be available for new customers or customers who haven't previously registered a $0.99 domain with them before.

We can only offer such great promotions by limiting them to one per customer. It looks as if you’ve already used this type of promotion.

Careful these animals end up buying some domains after you search for what you are after if it is available
Check what domains you want at Katz global as they do not grab what you haven't
Years ago I checked here for an obscure domain and it got snapped up

    • Will keep that in mind for next time

Go with uniregistry (big registry, reliable, less features) or namesilo, cheap, good feature, but smaller. Both offer FREE whoisguard.

I transferred both .work domains to webnames early this year when they had a promotion. 8 years domain name registration for CAD$15.92 each domain.

  • you can always use a service like www2.domainsquare.com.au

which will be cheap every year, not just the first year.

  • Stupid q - could I buy a domain name, easily setup redirect in godaddy to point it to an existing site (with a less friendly url).

Txf domain name to another register in a year if desired ?
