  • Wow this is cheap for a gym.

Although, I am not sure about those classes, never heard of them before, are they specific to Crunch?

Looks good. Lets hope they expand around Oz and offer some competition to the overpriced gyms [cough] Fitness First ;-)

  • Awesome!

    Except

If there is no contract why the annual fee and 30 days notice with a 7 day cooling off period, is that not a contract ?

    • Exactly, you will be asked to sign a contract.

The correct term should be 'rolling 30 day contract', but doesn't sound anywhere near as good.

    Good price.

I use Jetts which is around $9 per week for 24hrs access + Australian owned.

There is also Snap Fitness which is also 24hrs, but not Australian owned. Not sure what they are charging per week.

Hope more open up in QLD, more competition means lower prices for everyone :)

    • snap fitness @ newmarket will open in a few months… about $8/wk no contract or joining fee

  • wow, crunch gym in the US is actually fairly expensive, as compared to 24hour fitness and bally's. Wonder why they are pricing cheaper than the fitness first in this country.

Gyms here are very overpriced. Glad you're in Aus finally!

Please expand! Expand ALL over NSW and the other states. DESTROY Fitness First and all other fitness chains. $40 a fortnight is totally overpriced!

    • This is a deal. Other gyms like fitness first are so much its amazing people actually commit this much to then have to go and punish their bodies in a gym. Why not use that exorbant amount and instead do something thrilling and rewarding with it like go kayaking, snorkling, surfing, or on a mountain bike adventure…

Please open one in North Sydney!

  • ahh wish this was in Parramatta; I have a similar 'no contract' plan at Gold's gym for 18.95 a week (nearly quadruple) plus I had to pay like nearly 200 in admin fees or something. Rip off!

    • $18.95 per week, that has got to be the most expensive membership!

    • You didn't "have" to ;-) While people are willing to pay rip off rates you will continue to be ripped off. I personally wouldn't want to lift the same barbell as others for a lot more $$$!

  • yes it is very expensive, but it is the closest one to my house which is important to me. Plus it is smaller and more comfortable than the mass factory farming setting of the fitness firsts or whatnot, with still all the necessary equipment and more.

Probably not the worth the money, but I just try to think of the health related costs I'll save in the future.

Still, hopefully something cheaper will pop up soon; at least I have the freedom to opt out of my contract at any time (albeit with 1 months notice, I believe)

    • It's a pity there is not more competition around, I wrangled a lower price from Jetts by letting them know that another gym was offering a cheaper price, but I'm happy there and would love to stay if they match it.

      It's always worth a shot.

      • yeah I really should have haggled; not really a natural at it though!

  • any1 joined this gym yet?

  • I just joined up to this gym. Looks like the price has increased from $4.95 to $5.95 but still a good deal.

The thing is I live in Newtown so it is a bit of a trek for me to get there. Hopefully the price is enough for me to stay enrolled, otherwise I can quit with no obligations.
