LG 7.5kg Front Load Washing Machine WD14022D6 - $574 Pickup (or +$35 Delivery) @ The Good Guys eBay

I thought this was worth posting, because this is a very good laundry machine which gets good reviews.

I bought this model myself a number of months ago (paid much more at the time), and can vouch for it. It is extremely quiet while washing, and only makes sound when the centrifuge runs. It uses direct-drive, and has 10 years warranty on the motor. A bit of research shows that LG laundry machines last very well (my previous front loader was a cheap LG model and lasted 10 years). This model washes cleanly, and the 1400RPM centrifuge is very effective.

Many shops have stock, making pickup a dirt cheap $574. Delivery is about $35, which is very reasonable. Even the undiscounted price is already the cheapest in Australia, so the 20% discount is a genuine bargain.

  • Your sure to clean up with this deal!

  • How does this compare to this Samsung as it's down to $396.80 after discount? Although I'll have to fork out additional $69 to have it delivered and installed which negates the discount :(

    • When I was shopping for machines, I looked at the Samsung models. I found that reviews on them were not very good. The model you linked to is 7kg (which is less), and the centrifuge is 1200RPM (also less). I do not know whether the Samsung one has a hot water and cold water inlet (maybe only cold).

It sounds cheap, but it is more of a budget model. You don't get the quietness and long-life of a direct-drive.

Plus it may burn down your house :p

  • We bought the smaller 7KG model. Its only been a month but from my research this washing machine is pretty solid. First hand experience is positive as well.

  • Yeah we've got this model, I've been pleased with performance. Note that like most front loaders a big load on standard cycle may take 2-3 hours, sometimes more. But there is an express option, too.

  • Similar to OP, I had the cheapo LG front loader (previous gen of this model) and lasted for 10 years, 2-3 loads/week for 10 years straight. Bought this model couple months ago during binglee ebay 20%, no complaint so far. One additional feature added to this model that I found really useful is the running timer, super useful.

  • 1400RPM centrifuge is very effective.

Wash a set of clothes and spin dry them at 1400 then weigh them and write down the weight.

Now do the same thing again with exactly the same items only this time set the spin cycle to the lowest speed setting. Weight the clothes at the end.

You won't be amazed at how effective it is and might even decide to save yourself the additional energy costs and possible wear on clothes and machine by just using the lowest setting.

You won't be amazed at how effective it is

What do you base that on?
My previous LG had a maximum speed of 800RPM, and cloths came out wet to touch. This machine spins at 1400RPM, and cloths come out significantly dryer, feeling damp, not wet.

The difference: whether you manage to get your cloths dry indoors during winter before they start to smell. Big difference.

  • I bought it $796 before 20% last time oh well…

If you want them to install it and take away your old one. When they call you for delivery you can ask and pay extra $34 for your local TGG to do that.

BTW, if you want it, get it now it is a lot cheaper than last time and they may jack up the price later.

  • Does anyone know if this machine can fit in multiple bed sheets? e.g. queen and single size. Am looking to buy this to replace our current top loader but our top loader is 10kg so not sure if 7.5kg will be big enough (family of 4 adults).

    • +1

Multiple bedsheets, yes. But if you includes quilt covers, maybe split it into 2 loads.

    • +1

We put King sheets, along with minor other stuff. All depends on the thickness of the sheets.

  • I'm wondering if I can buy it but not have it delivered till the end of January? do you think GG would agree to that? It will be in Hobart…

    • I messaged them online with that exact same question as I don't have the keys to my new home yet. They replied saying that you can call them ask for delivery to be delayed up to 28 days

Edit - just found the exact reply:

  • I am thinking whether TGG will do price guarantee with their eBay store.

But anyway already over 30 days :(

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/30-day-price-guarantee

    • No, because eBay sponsors the discount. TGG receives the normal price minus eBay fees.

      • I am talking about their listed price dropped from $798 to $718
