  • Oh man I was waiting for this to come on sale again and now I have click-fright. Should I get it? Upgrading from 8yr old Sony 200hz in perfect condition.

    • +2

Yes you should. I have one and it's awesome!

    • "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

      • +1

This is what gets me. My Sony is 1080p and actually does really well and hasn't missed a beat despite being shipped from Qld to Vic and various other suburb moves. I also just keep thinking that the next wave of OLED is around the corner and will be a big jump again.

Good old Opportunity Cost haunting me from grade 9 economics.

Yep, keep waiting if you're still rocking a sweet telly already.

OLED will keep getting cheaper, input lag will continue to be improved (via OTA firmware), HDR standards will formalise etc. in the next round of 4k TVs I reckon.

        • @LaTerrible:

Is input lag an issue with these sets?

        • @LaTerrible: nicely said - the wise decision is to sit tight for the time being

        • @travs:
Only with 4k HDR content. Input lag of 67.5 ms. Might be a problem if you have a PS4 Pro.

The 2016 Samsung and Sony LED tvs have the least amount of input lag if setup properly.

          I agree with LaTerrible.

I have a 50" Panasonic 1080p plasma (about 8 years old) that has never given me issues… love it.
But I'm busting for an OLED, for no reason other than I really want one :).

OLED will become the norm soon enough, and will definitely become cheaper.
MajorGaz, hold off mate. You don't 'need' it, you 'want' it like I do. Holding off will save you money or buy you a bigger size or features… just wait.

I know it's painful, but just wait.

        • +1

Do you have any 4K content? e.g. PS4 Pro or UHD BD player?

If not, just wait for them to get cheaper, or other brands to start making them (like Samsung and Sony). Once they do, OLED will get cheaper.

OLED will become the norm soon enough, and will definitely become cheaper.

Samsung is working on a new tech called QLED which is said to be even better than OLED. It will have the benefits of OLED and it will be brighter and also cheaper.

As long as LG are the only ones making OLED TVs, the prices are not going to crash any time soon. What you need is competition.

        • @lostn: Panasonic are bringing one out next year.

almost there.. if this was the 65", I'd be pulling out the credit card..

    • +1

      patiently waiting for 65inch under 3k :)

    • How far away do you sit from it? I sat in front of my mates 65" and at 2m it's really overwhelming.

      • +4

No matter how big, you'll get used to it. I sit 3m from my 70" and it was huge at first, but now seems a bit small. I wish 80" panels were cheaper!

        • +1

I am with Travs. The whole sitting distance thing is BS. 80" from 2m is good.

        • +2

I suspect the TV get smaller over time.

        • +1
My 60" gave me motion sickness at first (games like Wolfenstein the whole camera moves as you reload). Now it feels completely average.

        • @stargalaxy: Thats what she said

  • Can't help but think $3k for a 55" is not good value given a 65" is less than $4k on special.

    • The new 2016 65" B6 and C6 have never been less than $4600. So $3k for the B6 and C6 55" is a good value in comparison.

  • I'm waiting for 80" FUHD (8K) OLED

  • +2

The quality is always fantastic when your watching through the OLED tv. The thing that stood out to me is the blacks in the OLED really shows and distinguishes those colours very very well. I love the OLED

    • +2

One of the things I look forward to when I come home is actually being able to sit on the couch in front of my OLED TV.

    • +2

Do you guys think cardoons will look good on this?

  • Saved $3000 to buy OLED curved a month ago, now when i opened by banking app found i already used $1000 :'(

    • Can I ask, why curved?

  • This is one gorgeous looking screen.

Anyone know where I can get a copy of the display video they play at the TV store? I know that they run off a USB stick. Is there a place you can download the footage?
