Don't think these guys can be trusted: they gave out their customer's details when the feds asked for it despite all they say.

I actually highly NOT recommend them as they keep full logs of who you are, what access and when (and more).

    • The internet is tapped everywhere - a VPN wont hide you from the feds.

There are a number of VPN providers out there that are actually pretty passionate about keeping you private.

It is practically impossible to identify you if the VPN you go through is actually not logging (and immeditately destroying all other things that may identify you). It's just whether or not we can trust the provider.

IVPN may be more trustworthy than HMA but I'm telling you straight, a commercial VPN wont hide u from the feds.

    • Thanks. I'm looking around for a cheap and trustworthy VPN. I would have though AVG would give them credibility.

They gave out customer info because they were compelled to do so by a court order, I'd be extremely concerned if they DIDN'T divulge the requested info in circumstances like this because if they show a blatant disregard for the law, goodness knows what they are actually doing with your info because clearly lawful and ethical business practices would not be high on their agenda. The FBI isn't going to be applying for an order if they think you have been accessing Netflix USA, you have to be doing something REALLY dodgy for them to become interested.

      • I'm not going to argue as I do not have the "if you don't have anything to hide" mindset but I personally don't care for the reason.

There are the VPN users who use it as a way around geolocking, and those that use it for actual privacy — this would suit the former group I'd guess.

        • I also don't have that mindset but my point is that you can't expect a VPN provider, or any reputable business for that matter, to ignore a court order.

        • @madgolfer: The point is if they don't keep logs they are unable to provide them.

        • They don't keep logs which show what content was accessed, only connection times/IP's/total downloads etc. All of which is clearly stated in their T&C's, not sure what the issue is?

  • https://www.goldenfrog.com/vyprvpn has an ok pricing and is mentioned in pentesting blogs
