Just thought id give it a review as this is an expensive purchase.

I ordered a queen mattress 6 months ago and couldn't be happier.

Well made and showing no signs of wear as the materiel is top quality.

It was a risk to purchase without actually testing the mattress, but they have a 100 night guarantee so that made the decision a little more bearable.

I didn't have good mattresses in the past, but after the duck I have a whole new level of comfort when I go to sleep each night.

    • Thanks for your feedback, its great to know you're still sleeping happy!
We always love hearing from our customers and their experience with our product.

Also just posting to say that I researched this place extensively when I was searching for a new mattress and although I didn't buy one they seem to have -extremely- high customer satisfaction with their product/service. I think I looked them up because they were the highest score on product review.

Reviews on various forums were also amazing for it. I ended up going with a different brand that I found in a physical store as my partner was adamant about trying a mattress in person. We are definitely happy with our choice but I wouldn't have hesitated to buy a sleeping duck one after the rave reviews.

I can also say that I have owned a King size in Firm for about 12-18 months (on another brand slated timber base). It's one of the best mattresses I've owned.
I've spent between $3000 and $4000 on mattresses three times in the last 15 years trying to help reduce my back pain from sleeping. The sleeping duck mattress is hands down the winner, from Tempur to other traditional inner springs.
My partner didn't want the Firm option and even though they offer a half-half option, I insisted she try the firm first and if she didn't like it she could change. She also loves it and has commented any time we stay in a hotel/AirBnB, her parents place, my parents place, anywhere… that our bed is just so much more comfortable from the moment you get in it than anything else we've slept in.
(We're both 40 and very fit.)
Note: They do off gas when you first get them. Expect a couple of days with the windows open.

  • Just ordered a King! Was hoping for a slightly higher discount for the sale as I had to fork out $199.00 for delivery but hopefully in a few weeks I'll be enjoying it. Thanks!

Its only an extra $25 saving as they have a standard $100 off coupon on their site. Price also doesn't include shipping

    • Yeah $25 isn't anything to cheer about but for those who were going to buy it for $100 it's an additional $25 off. The shipping fee left a sour feeling however. Sick of looking at different mattresses and looking forward to not doing it again for a long time (hopefully!)

      • How come yours says shipping costs? Mine says shipping free

        • I would say it's because I live in Darwin :(

Thumbs up from me too. We bought a queen sized back in April and at first it was way too hot (coming from a waterbed) and was only comfortable when the night time temps dropped below about 15c. The staff were quite helpful, they sent out a softer inner section at no charge and offered us a refund several times due to the heat issue. But because the bed was so comfortable we decided to keep it even though I was a bit worried about warmer summer temps. We swapped out our woollen doona for a cotton one and that helped, but somewhere along the way (after the 100 night sleep guarantee)I think my body acclimatised and the heat no longer bothers me, in facts it's quite nice now. We had a 20c+ night last week and I was actually a bit cool. Around the same time I noticed that it has become a great pleasure to hit the sack at night.

I can't speak highly enough about this product, and no, I am not associated with SD and am not getting paid for that review. :)

Have you tried bamboo sheets? they're thermo-regulating so will keep you cool in summer and warm in winter. They're also softer than any of the high thread count Egyptian sheets we've had. My boyfriend overheats really easily and they are the most comfortable sheets by far.

I recently bought a bamboo doona cover and it is pure bliss! I had to put it in the wash yesterday and was tempted to run out and buy another few of them because one night with a different cover and I don't think I can ever go back D:

      • Yeah I think one of sheets is bamboo and it's quite cool, will get another one when the cotton one wears out. Cheers. :)

      • Hi Lunawinter,

Any suggestions on where is a good place to start for bamboo sheets? The usual retailers?

        Cheers.

Hi there! So far we have been the happiest with the Elysian bamboo cotton sheets (mixed fibers). We did buy another brand on ebay but they went funny after one wash. We tend to get them when they are on sale at Harris Scarfe.

          http://www.harrisscarfe.com.au/bed,bath-%26-home-decor/manch…

For some reason there's barely any colours available.. there may be more in store though. We bought charcoal ones that are awesome!

Our bamboo quilt cover is from purezone - https://www.purezone.com.au/collections/quilt-covers/product…

We buy them instore at DFO :) got them for $80 for king size when they had a sale. I have yet to see how they hold up from washing as they are brand new but wow the doona cover feels like sleeping wrapped in a cloud. I will likely try their sheet sets next if they have one with a low enough drop (we have a really fat mattress) because they feel amazing. You will have more brands to choose from if you have a regular sized mattress.

        • @Lunawinter:

thanks mate. i bought some from ettitude. i will see how they are

        • @commandershephard:

No problem! Hope you enjoy them :)

P.s we did go and get another doona cover set.. back in heaven hahah.

is there anyone who has tried both the spring/foam combo mattresses (like this sleeping duck), and the foam only mattresses (eg. Greywing, Ecosa, Onebed etc) to compare? partner is very keen on the greywing, but interested if anyone has tried both and can compare?

  • Hi OP

I recently bought the double bed mattress for $999 a few days ago. Can you refund the $25 difference to the reduced price?
Otherwise it would be quite the effort to return my current one for a refund and then purchase a new one (same mattress) for the cheaper price.
