  • Wonder how this compares to the Logitech Squeezebox

    • I would suggest at $650 the Squeezebox should sound better, but looking at the logitech website it doesn't have Digital Radio, iPod or USB connectivity.

    • +1

      Squeezebox is better value.

You can pick them up for around $170, and in addition to internet radio, they also enable you to stream MP3s off your PC. (You can attach an iPod via a cable if you want to.)

      Great sound quality too.

The only downside is that of course you need to have a wireless home network for the Squeezebox to work.

      • I predominantly use mine for crystal clear digital radio reception which I don't think Squeezebox has. I also don't need such a big unit for my bathroom or bedroom, but I'm sure the Squeezebox would sound better.

        • Do you have this model? How is the streaming off PC sound?

          • @asa79: Sorry, that is the 1 function I have not tried. I mainly use it for Digital radio.

  • good for the price, but an internet radio really needs a bigger screen so you can scroll through your choices easier.

    • Totally agree, but I have a couple of my favourites pre-set. Also didn't expect much more for the price. You can pay a lot more for larger screen.

  • Anyone have any experience with this?
How bright is the screen? A review I read said that the screen was a bit bright to have next to your bed when sleeping.
Is the iPhone supported for charging etc. without putting it into flight mode?
    Si.

    • Mine sits in our bathroom and the display gives a nice glow at night, so we don't need to turn the light on. I would not have it by my bed facing me!

Yes, it does charge my iPod.

      • Whats the power usage like? Normal use and standby/sleep/off

        • Sorry, no idea. The back light is just LED so I don't expect it to be much.

  • Pity it doesn't record programs to the iPod. Actually I don't even have an iPod so what am I complaining about? :) Ah no, I was just thinking of someone who has an iPod and likes to timeshift programs.

  • I'd buy this if it didn't have an iCrap dock.

  • I have one of these and while the sound is pretty good for mono I get zero DAB+ reception in my house despite being in an area said to have "very good" coverage.

    • I have no problem with it and have used it at a few places around Melbourne, but my dad is in a ground floor apartment and had a bit if difficulty. He needed to move it around to an external wall near a window - which was not where he wanted it.

I have one. For its price (i paid $160) its awesome. Not the most intuitive menu and selection, but once you get used to it, it does it all.

You cant stream mp3 playlists, there is no shuffle/repeat play, you cant pause/rewind podcasts, with 10,000 internet stations its clunky to sort through. But ignoring that, it does more than anything ive tried and sounds pretty good for its size.

    For $100 its a steal.

    • so you have to pick a song at a time to stream, or a directory?

  • i have one and use it all day. downside for me is no remote and no handle. sits in the lounge and plays my fav stations from home. i paid $160

    • Seriously no remote, how do you work it? I didnt think they made anything anymore without remotes. My logitech alarm ipod dock even has a remote.

  • I bought one of these a couple of months back. It was faulty on arrival. I checked and other people had the same experience. Kogan would not refund my P&H and I had to pay to return the item. Of course this is all against consumer law, so I have referred them to the ACCC who recently gave dealsdirect a big whack for a similar thing. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

  • I agree it would be much better with a remote, plus does not have a quality feel at all.

  • Damn, it looks like I missed out, currently $119

    • +2

      $99 + $16.90 (nsw delivery) = $115.90, and you can't use any discount codes…

The new model (presale now, dispatch on 23-Jul):
      $149 + free delivery + 10% discount code = $134.10 …

which is only $18.20 difference … so if you are not in a hurry, maybe the new model is a better buy :)
PS: From the specs, the new model comes with a remote control ;)
