  • Could be $431.20 via their Ebay store if the 20% off sale hits tomorrow for the 960 Pro 512GB.

Shows the pricing disparity between their store and their Ebay store when on Ebay they have it for $539.

I'd guess at least part of that is padding for the eBay tax since eBay have apparently started charging more to sellers. Not sure on exact figures though, but that certainly doesn't account for the full difference.

Dont know if its changed, but fees are up to 13% once paypal is included. Changes quite a bit depending on store package and goods category.

  • are there much differences in between 960/960 pro vs 850 evo?

    • These 960s are M.2 NVMe drives while 850 EVO is 2.5" SATA. Completely different interface and much much faster.

they also have m2 version for 850 Evo which is like half the price of 960 series, that's why I wonder would it be good enough for that 1/2 amount of saving?

        • I just bought the m2 850evo ~.~

My bad. Didn't realise there are M.2 850s. They are still limited by SATA interface while 960 can achieve 5 times sequential transfer rates through PCI-E.

It's a significant upgrade but I can't say if you'd notice the difference in general use since I personally haven't experienced it.

I'm still using my 4 years old Plextor M5S and am eyeing the 250GB 960 EVO. I think it'll be less of a leap than going from hard disk to any SATA SSD from the past two years.

Might have been tempted with the recent promo vouchers, except it was blatant false advertising:

  • Do you guys think we'll be seeing clearance sales on the 950 Pro, or is this a better buy?

    • +1

I've been thinking the same thing, but with the 960 EVO currently cheaper than the 950 Pro while outperforming it I think even at clearance the EVO would be the better buy. Plus the 960s are supposed to have no problems with thermal throttling.

I'm looking for other's opinions too.

      • The 960 EVO doesn't outperform the 950 Pro

it is damn good value though.

From the very review you linked

"It is generally slightly slower than last year's 950 Pro, but does improve on some of the 950's more acute weaknesses."

Guess it depends on what you're looking for: consistency across the board, or flexing areas of strength

        • @fleetfeather: Well if you compare the 950 Evo to the 960 evo then the 960 Evo is the clear winner. The 950 evo used sata interface and the 960 evo uses pcie so won't take out 2 of your sata ports on your motherboard :D the 950 pro vs the 960 evo is pretty hard decision though.
