Geez 280 ks and 3 hours each way. 6 hours plus say $50 in petrol hope its a big savings

    • Well yeah, 50% off their sleeping bags, which go for $800-1000, would make it worthwhile alone, let alone all the other gear. This is pro-level stuff for seriously challenging environments, not family camps at a campsite with showers.

$800-1000 for a sleeping bag yet they can't even design a decent site…
        well then..

    • Good excuse to visit the nation's capital.. The galleries are good and free!! (should put that on OzBargain)
      Its a decent day out.

  • Mont quality is pretty exceptional.

I'm keen to get one of their waterproof jackets - Not only do they seem to last a long time, but they repair them as well. I heard that someone recently took a 25yo waterproof jacket in for repair - not a problem! I can't think of a single piece of our equipment that has lasted even half as well.

One of those examples of you get what you pay for… Even nicer if they provide a good discount.

I've got a mont waterproof jackt that is around 10 years old.. The Hydronaute material they have was awesome. I remember going to Tropfest a few years back and it was absolutely pouring but i was completely dry from the waist up…
I've been keeping an eye out for this factory sale, just spewing i can't make it!

      • One thing that I noticed is that their good waterproof jackets are longer than you see elsewhere - something that I never appreciated until the sky fell in :-)

  • Just as an alternative, look at alpkit. I'm not related to them in any way, but I just ordered a pipedream 600 sleeping bag. 750+ loft, 600g fill weight with a -10.8C comfort rating. 1094g in stuff sack (according to my scales). 191 pound plus 10 pound shipping, and it got delivered in under 1 week from the UK to Perth.

Not used it yet but initial impressions are positive!

    • I love Alpkit. Everyone I've ever dealt with there for my custom gear is so charming and helpful.

I asked for material options for some custom bags I'm getting made, and they were about one email short of sending me the actual swatches of all their materials to test out.

Amazing prices too. Cannot find comparable quality for comparable price anywhere in Australia.

  • Where are you planning on going that you need a sleeping bag that keeps you this warm? I have a cheap sleeping bag that is good for me in summer and then a decent one for winter (that is rated -2 or -4 with the hood. I am sure the quality is not the same (mine is a Roman) but are you climbing Everest?

Overland Track in Tassie…. I've got a Roman as well, but that's only good for summer…
I like to be toast warm wrapped in goose down. Livin' the high life in the bush!

Past sales have been pretty good. I'm off hiking with a rain jacket bought from a sale years back that is still going strong.
