  • Very similar coupon codes (some are actually the same) as the offers Dell has given to OzBargain. See here

    http://www.dell.com.au/ozbargain

Those are "micro-sites" for organisations offering discount to the members, although these are probably the same coupons everywhere. Basically there is just no point of buying RRP from Dell. Moreover, those are not affiliation links so it is possible to claim back 7% again from MoneyBackCo.

Edit: btw no fly point if you buy through OzBargain :) So great deal this one, if you prefer it over commission back from MBC.

  • Thx, looking to pick up some laptops shortly.

  • Well that was a nice reminder of why I won't buy Dell Australia, their shopping experience is terrible. I want 6-8 monitors, with sound. I found a suitable monitor (eventually, they don't let you search for features), saw I could get either of two soundbars, but couldnt find any info about them, how to add them to the order or whether they'd be included in the voucher (the US site you just add them directly as customisations), so I accepted the offer of online help only for that to fail with generic explanation and a US phone number to call, then kept ending up on the US site seeing US prices, without realising it. I think I'll stick with normal retail - they tend to help you when you want to spend some serious money.

  • And why is it that the normal online price of $269 shown at http://www1.ap.dell.com/au/en/home/monitors/monitor-dell-sx2… immediately goes up to $299 if you choose it? Grrrrr….

    • Yeah, that's weird. At least it comes down to $254 after apply the above coupon, so you're still $15 ahead. shrug
I've personally only had good experiences with Dell.

      • It might have seemed petty of me, but I have to buy half a dozen sets of a monitor, a device to drive it (mini PC, probably) and some software for a very cost sensitive application. I thought I'd found the monitor at the price I needed (knowing about the 15% coupon too) and so spent nearly two days concentrating on the other stuff, which was tricky due to the need to support a higher resolution than I'd initially expected. Then, when I think all is done, I press "add to card" and find the price I'd been shown was wrong by about 15% and there's a limit of two per customer. End result - two wasted days (I'm back to square 1 now) and a lot of frustration. I suppose I'm lucky in that I chose to physically buy the monitors first, at least.

This type of stuff bugs me, as it's unnecessary and costly to the (would-be) customer. Dell does the hard part (making good products at good prices) and then stuffs up the easy part (not making errors in the sale).

I'm reminded of my last experience - buying a top end laptop, monitor and soundbar at a total price of several thousands of dollars, quoted and confirmed in email. I never did get the soundbar, nomatter who I called and what they promised. I eventually just gave up and bought some separate speakers.

I swore that would be the last time. But here I was again, almost tempted back into the fold, and let down again before I even got started!

Anyway - rant over. Maybe someone notices these things who has the power to do something to improve their customer experience up to the quality of their products (unlikely though - too big a company).

  • Ordered a couple of monitors, lets hope they don't turn around and say you can't use the coupon with the rewards like they do with MoneyBackCo. Free $50 Myer voucher FTW.

    • What does that mean, for those of us new to this stuff?
