  • Grey Import? How would warranty work for this?

    • Definitely grey import, their warranty page is here: http://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/warranty-return-poli…

    • +1

      According to their website:

Q: How does the warranty work?

A: As products are being imported from overseas, the Original Warranty may not work with your local dealer but eGlobaL does cover your item with our own warranty up to 24 months warranty for all cameras and lens. 12 months for mobile & tablets, gadgets and audios. 1 month for waterproof cameras and batteries, as good as the Original Warranty. Simply find the RMA return policy for your reference.

So I guess if there's anything wrong, you ship it back to eGlobal, they get it fix then send it back.

      Grey.
Claiming warranty is pretty terrible, it took them 10 days after getting my phone to acknowledge that it was faulty and that it would take another 4 weeks to repair.

      • +4

Also bear in mind the official Samsung Australia warranty is 24 months whereas this is only 12.

        • I guess you get what you pay for.

  • +1

Pretty good price! I purchased my one earlier this month for $746 through the eBay 20% off promo. The S7 Edge is a beast!

P.S. Cashrewards have a 1% cashback on the purchase, so you could save another $7.50 :)

  • This isn't TRS able is it?

    I know I will be 'neg'ed for this but…..

I believe in quest for thinner phones with ghigher capacity batteries these msnufacturers are overlooking some thing. Samsung’s history is denial,Acceptance, promises fix, then coverup as much as possible.
      Apple is not far behind.

Windows Mobile phone is the most reliable. Go Windows Go.

Obviously you wont hear any incidents with windows phones… Because no one has them

        • -1

@raven2000: I guess it's not an explosive news when compare to samsunk.

    • -7

Only Samsung madness ppl will neg u.
I would stay away from these potential booms.

      • +6

Note 7 is the only one you should stay away from, the rest are fine

    • +12

Note 7 has a problem, S7/edge does not.
Phones batteries exploding is not new, Note 7 was just the first to have it as a widespread problem.

Go google exploding iPhone, Htc one, nexus 6p, lg g3, lg g4, etc. Results come back for most phones. There are even storied about old iPhone 3gs batteries exploding.

      • +9

Dont even need to look that far, there are now reports coming out that the iPhone 7 is exploding too.

    • I'm wondering, why do some of the commenters on that link call that site 'iPhoneArena'? Does that forum only deal with Apple devices? If that's the case then the claim made there is suspicious, innit?

      • +1

It's because of their posts that make it 'iPhoneArena'. They are supposedly biased towards Apple.

        • +1

Hmm. Hard to take what they say seriously then. Makes sense. Ta

  • Anyone used this site before know if they are reliable?

    • My family have purchased 3 phones in the last five years from e-global and have always had a good experience.

      • +3

Has your experience ever involved something other than just the purchase?

No they are not reliable. Their warranty process is beyond a joke. Yes, after purchase it'll probably arrive within a few days, great! If you need to warranty claim, expect a 1 line email once every 3 days with poor english, not addressing your question and a lengthy process with possibly/likely(?) no satisfactory result.

        • +3

Luckily, I can say that my experiences have not involved something other than just the purchase. I can also happily say in the last 5 years my family has not had to claim warranty on any electronic products as most are reliable.

I've read your Whirlpool posts and I can understand how distressing the poor experience with e-global must have been and I agree it is not acceptable, especially when they do say that they cover you with warranty and then don't deliver.

I guess this is what consumers should expect when we are getting a $500 discount (32gb Edge @ JBhifi $1249. It doesn't justify the dodgy practices but still :(

        • what problem did you have exactly?

        • @Nexo: link to the whirlpool post?

        • +2

@Nexo: yep after reading that they have lost my sale

        • +1

wow, just read the google doc with the customer rep, so dodgy. never buying from this site.

i was confused at the end, what happened after august, did you get a new LG G4 after you got the dented and rooted one?

        • @Rohangiga: mine too

        • +2

@Nexo: Thanks for the reply. My experience aside, I tend to agree, at $500 (40%) off, it could still be worth the gamble. I still get tempted. As you say, 'most are reliable' - in reference to electronic goods. So yeah, given eglobal are essentially "getting a big box of phones and putting them in courier bags to people", then buying from them you're playing the numbers, generally good odds.

But the question of 'are THEY reliable', no, they are not. Which is essentially why I reply to questions/comments like this, so people know what to expect.

        • +1

@yummycoot: Nope. I also never sent it back in. They offered TNT pick up (so free return shipping, why that wasn't offered the first time around I don't know). But I just looked at the time spent (emails etc), money spent, and quality of their responses, and figure a working phone in my hand (caveats, rooted and dents (minor) etc) even for the kids or backup etc is better than another two, possibly more, months of BS and a chance of never getting anything else back ever (which as you'd feel from the quality of replies, seemed a possibility).

I mean, even if they'd said "We're really sorry about all this, we have been both burnt and hammered by the failure of the G4, all we can really offer is A) B) or C), you're welcome to choose" etc. I'd have felt notably better about it all. After all, the G4 failure isn't their fault. But getting the subsequent run around is what loses them all the points.

And as someone who buys a new phone every 6-12 months (the G4 wasn't my first from them), it's their loss.

        • @nzcoops: did you have any problems with other phones from them?

        • +1

@yummycoot: Nope, so this is the only RMA I've gone through. A 'problem with a phone' per se is nothing to do with them, it's a manufacturers issues right. So in that respect it's just playing the odds.

        • @nzcoops: yeah, i have been reading posts and rating websites about these hongkong based phone exporters, they are not to be trusted…

        • @nzcoops:

I trust Kogan generally a lot better than all these other random sites, and they still are alot cheaper, like GS7 Edge for $840

    • When I tried to purchase one before, they said they ran out of stock and I would have to wait a few weeks, even though on ebay they said they had stock,

  • exynos cpu any good?

  • +1

this is the dual sim model of S7 edge. G935FD is dual sim edition and G935F is single sim edition

what bothers me most is why single sim is $10 expensive than dual sim???

  • +1

Search around whirlpool and here for info about these muppets before buying.

  • +1

    Great deal.

  • +2

I took the optus deal. Should have wait

      Try to cancel your order.

I'll buy one if it comes with a 2 yr Samsung warranty.

  • -1

the website says 5.5" screen, should not it be 5.7"?

    • +2

I think you are confused S7 Edge with Note 7. S7 Edge has 5.5" screen while Note 7 has 5.7" screen.

      • Oh, my bad

    • +1

      It's 5.5 inch

      • Yeah, got confused

  • Does this support all the Telstra bands\network ie 4GX compliant?

    • +1

      Yes, it does.

      LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 12(700), 13(700), 17(700), 18(800), 19(800), 20(800), 25(1900), 26(850), 28(700), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500)

      • +1

        Thank you very much!

Is DWI better than eGlobal? They have it at $759 at the moment

    • +2

They're not better, or worse, they're the same company. The two websites used to be carbon copies of each other, but now they have changed the product names slightly to make it less obvious.

  • +2

About 1 month ago, there was a deal for S7 Edge 32GB on Kogan/Dick Smith eBay for $697.60 including shipping but there were only 20 up votes versus this post's 50+ up votes for the same phone but $50 more expensive? Can anyone tell me why? I'm trying to decide if I should wait for a better deal or just pull the trigger and get the phone.

    • maybe it was a single sim edition, maybe not.

but the phone is worth getting, I would recommend getting single sim edition of S7 edge rather than dual sim since I read that there are issues with dual sim. Also worth noting, you cannot use two sims and a micro sd card at once. Unless you wanna take a risk and do a DIY

      • Thanks for the advice! I am planning on getting a single sim.

    • It appears you're mistaken

        • the one sold at dicksmith had Snapdragon processor not Exynos

        • +1

@yummycoot: Apparently it seems to be a mixture of both Snapdragon and Exynos (like a lucky dip lol). Do you think a guaranteed Exynos is worth the extra $50? (Although I trust Kogan's warranty more)

        • +3

          @sen:
Yep it is. Better battery life, better sound output due to the better DAC, faster boot and app startup.

        • +1

@sen: yes, its worth it. one thing that bothers me about s7 edge is that it has less ppi than s7 normal edition.

S7 edge has 534 ppi while s7 has 578 ppi.

        • +2

read this before proceeding any further, i was gonna buy it but now I am not

        • @yummycoot: Cheers, think I'll wait til Kogan or someone legit has a deal.

        • @yummycoot: still looks fantastic tho

    • I agree. The one with the fewer votes was on a Thur evening but this one was during the day? Yeah, I'm not convinced either ;-)

  • Anyone able to get glass screen protector with full coverage?

    • 9H Glass, although I stupidly took off the adhesive on the edges because I didn't realise that was being used to make it stick.

      • So basically not glass full coverage?

  • Honestly, those edges are more trouble than they're worth.

  • Poll still open, but the S7 Edge seems to be doing well http://www.poll-maker.com/results855690x0e0B4daf-35#tab-2

  • Superior resistance to explosions and chemical fires …. I would go Samsung more than Apple, HTC or LG

  • +1

lol was about to pull the trigger until i read that GOOGLE doc of email exchanges with eGlobal. no thanks.

  • Pretty tempted to get this to replace the s2 thats been giving me headaches lately.

Insured shipping… Is that worth it, or just a cash grab?

    • Depends what you think of insurance…

  • Another one exploded. Good luck to those who own one.

    http://www.phonearena.com/news/The-nightmare-doesnt-end-anot…

  • first the post about eglobaldigital customer service got me out of the deal,

then these explosions is further deal killer for me. :(
