Cool profile pic, happy Halloween!
TP Link Archer D7 ADSL2+ Modem Router $149
Do I wait for a better deal to come along or bite on this one?
Wait for a better deal I'd say.
Alternatively, why don't you get it from eBay for 150 (or more) then get a free 50$ eBay voucher afterwards?
With a $50 ebay voucher I'm inclined to make another purchase from ebay, otherwise I "lose" the $50? Don't do much ebay shopping to be honest :)
Fair enough, but think of it as you're getting something for free with the router! Free = another everyday household item you use
@montorola: That's what someone who acts like a moron with money does.
I don't get your logic.
If the same item is 150 in msy, and the same item is on eBay for the exact same price, you wouldn't buy from eBay to get a 50$ voucher to spend on an everyday item that would essentially be free? (i.e. hair gel, shaving gear, shoes etc)
@montorola:
Do you know if the vouchers can stack with 20% off deals when they next come round?@CleverCounter: Generally no, because eBay only allows the entry of one code at checkout, be it a credit voucher or discounted code.
Shouldn't this deal be listed as starting Monday? OP/Mod?
Damn no cheap GPUs this time. Seems like decent prices on the monitors though.
LOL, T8E was $69 a few days back, it's normal price for MSY… Cheeky buggers tryna trick us!
Was looking at that exact item a few days back as I was comparing pricing on it (+various other items) to PCCG.
i need a mobo for a build, are asrock good? better than or as good as asus? it's been over a decade for me so asrock wasn't around back then.
looking at z170 extreme4
i had the asus Z170-AR on my build list but one of the asrock ones would be cheaper.
Asrock's quality has got much better then 10 years ago. I used Asus, gigabyte, Asrock, All no problem at all. Asrock has very good quality and good price.
In fact, in my dated (haven't bought a motherboard for a few years because my i7-3770 is still going strong) and limited experience it is more durable reliable than ASUS and Gigabyte.
I'm currently using their z170 extreme6+ and can not fault it. Loads of features and UEFI id ridiculously easy to use.
Just make sure you update the BIOS ASAP as mine came out with v1.0 and trying to get the board to recognize the RAM properly was a pain… also because they're relatively new, there was a ton of updates. Bought my in January and already on v7.0!!
thx for the tip. the extreme4 seems to just have different usb ports in number. so i might save the $$ as it's fine for me.
I was torn between the 2 tbh… then the ebay sale pushed me toward the 6+ hahaha. Can't remember if the 4 has usb3.1 which I reckon is a nice future proofing feature (as well as their 'Ultra M2' port) so keep that in mind!
I recently spent ages trying to decide between the few (mITX) z170 boards out there at the moment, JUST INCASE i wanted to get a K chip in future or try overclock the non-k with the right bios. In the end got a gigabyte b150 which am very happy with, and put the extra $ towards a better gpu. Only really bother with the z170's if you're looking into a K chip in my opinion..
i thought the K was just to say whether it came with a fan?
and clock speed diff. sorry i forgot. http://ark.intel.com/compare/88195,88196
K chips don't come with a fan because the stock intel fans aren't suitable for overclocking. They are marked K because they can be overclocked in the bios, but you need a z170 board (for new skylake chips).
The non-K chips "can't" be overclocked, but not difficult to find forums that link previous bios' which can override that. But again, you would need a suitable fan, the one you get stock with your non-K probably won't cut it.
Hence, i decided to save money on i) not buying a fan, (ii) getting a non-K, and (iii) getting a different board, b150 in my case. This all saved me a couple hundred bucks which I put towards other parts of my build.
Just to be clear, the K chips will run on non-z170 boards, you just won't be able to overclock. I think overclocking is pretty much the only true benefit from the z170.
I was just looking at this email from MSY but couldn't find any outstanding deal from it :(
My…. 2600K is still working and I'm playing BF1, so hard.
2500k over here, plays YouTube Red at frame cap still ;)
I've also got the 2500k. Plays Doom 2016 flawlessly at ultra/1080p (combined with a gtx 1060)
Samsung 34" S34E790C Curved (3440*1440) 21:9 4ms monitor USB3.0
Always wanted a ultra wide and the Samsung picture quality looked better In store than the lg… It's a fair bit of money but I just might bite
Ahh I remember msy in the days of 3hr queues, nobody answering phones only to get to the front and be told by the Asian dude with the huge mole and a hair coming out of that mole "No Stok!"
sighAnd given how slow the staff were the 3hr queue might have sometimes been 7 people.
Ah, the good old days
never have I once experience that in my whole life… only when some Caucasian teenager taking 10000 hrs in the line looking at their parents discussing if A or B.
damn those caucasians!
Order online for pickup, it's pretty easy.
Chill out fellow geeks/nerds. No need to stress the racial stereotypes on Sunday. BTW, I agree with all the comments about the buying/shopping experience from this retailer. It's cheap for a reason. I still shop there knowing what to expect.
Aye FWIW they've come a long way since then
What's the difference in pronunciation between 'stock' and 'stok'?
think affirmative, direct, almost a sense of pleasure in breaking peoples spirits waiting in line for 3hrs only to be told they cant have what they were waiting in line for so long. The things we did/do to save a couple of bucks..
So descriptive I feel like I'm there.
still better than the angsty emo staff behind the counter at Gamedude way way back, before they moved to Springwood.
Nothing topped fast Eddie from ITRite… He was quite the character
Ahh the memories…
Was lol when he was still selling shit from his garage. Whatever happened to fluidtek anyway?
@CVonC: yup apparently he was selling stolen or grey import AMD CPUs (rumours not facts)
Last I heard and saw him was with a dingy little store in carlingford though Google says it's permanently closed??
Website is up though
that's what i was talking about, the carlingford store.
Lol. We still refer to MSY as the acronim for "Mega Stinky Youths" - because no-one in our local store uses deodorant…
JB are selling those 2TB drives for $169, so that 'brings' the TV down to $421.
You can get a similar Bluetooth music receiver (all it needs is USB power from a spare charger) for around $2 on aliexpress
bugger no 24' mons on sale
damn, i wouldn't mind a 24-foot mon.
I was planning to make a build with i5-6600K + Z170z Gaming 3 Motherboard. Are these motherboard similar to the z170z?
Anyone running the Viewsonic monitor on sale? 1440p would be a nice upgrade from my 2008 (?) Acer
I was considering this monitor as well and any feedback from users with this monitor would be appreciated6.
It appears to be an old 2012 model with 12ms refresh rate other than that it appears good on paperThey seem to have the same model (VP2770) but with 5ms which I'd find acceptable seeing as my current model is 6ms… 12ms is ridiculously high these days. Wonder which one MSY is selling.
