Just received this deal from Lenovo. Use the current coupon DEALS to bring this ThinkPad T460 down to $1199 delivered:

  • Intel Core i5-6200U Processor
  • Windows 10 Home 64
  • 14" FHD (1920x1080), IPS
  • 8GB PC3-12800 DDR3L
  • 128GB SSD, SATA3
  • 3 cell front battery + 6 cell removable rear battery = 85Wh and around 20.2hours of battery life

Note that 3 cell front battery is internal, and 6 removable cell is somehow an $0 option — however it adds some thickness and weight to the package. Still not bad at 1.87kg.

They are now calling T460 the "Enterprise Ultrabook" and it's the successor of ThinkPad from the IBM era — magnesium rollcage, spill-resistant keyboard, good build quality, etc.

Offer ends tonight.

  • Doesnt do 2 hard disks according to this, in case anyone was wondering like me.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/49axkf/does_the_t…

    The t440 does.

    • -1

T440 is quite a bit heavier than T460 and has an optical drive as well.

      • The optical drive in the T440 is what allows it to take a 2nd hd - you use a HD caddy to replace the optical drive.

        • Am looking at the t440 in front of me… There is no room for an optical drive.

          http://www.laptopmag.com/articles/install-m2-ssd-lenovo-t440…

I think it takes the spot of the 3G/4G modem instead.

        • +1

          @calcium:

I think optical drive is only on the T440p model, the standard T440 doesn't although its slimmer due to this.

        • +1

@blahoz: Yes, sorry I missed the p. The T440p in front of me has an optical drive - and I believe you need that to install a regular 2.5" SSD or HD. And nobody uses optical drives anyway ;)

    • +1

You can do 2 solid state drives if you use the 2.5in with a M2 sata ssd.

Fairly certain as I could in my x250

      • Not according to the reddit link above.

        • +2

          Wow. What a step backwards.

  • THese are well built laptops.

  • +1

Very nice laptop - but probably worth paying the $50 extra for the backlit keyboard

Looks like the DEALS coupon is also compatible with 7.5% back at CashRewards

    • +1

      Touch typing saves $50 :)

  • Nice deal - the Lenovo keyboard is great, with real PgUp and PgDn keys.

  • +2

You can upgrade to a 'slightly' larger AC Adaptor that provides faster charge for $0:

65W AC Adaptor (ANZ), 3-pin plug type

    compared to:

45W AC Adapter - Australia and New Zealand (3pin)

  • Will this model be discontinued soon? I mean is there a T470 coming?

    • +2

T460 was announced in January this year. EDGE series of ThinkPad already has Kaby Lake (see this E470 deal), but T/X series are usually a few month later. I suspect T470/T570/X270 will be announced soon (Jan next year). Hopefully with USB 3.1 Type C connector, which E470 unfortunately does not have.

  • what are the displays like on these? I remember having one a couple years ago and it almost looked like graph paper (really fine grid/pixels visible).
Looks like a great deal though.

  • Anyone used this compared to the Lenovo Yoga 710?JB hifi has one for 1199 so tossing between the 2.

    • +4

This is like a Jeep Wrangler and the Yoga is like a Mazda MX5. :)

      • haha! ok never thought if it that way, cheers

  • Does it really take 3-4 weeks to be delivered? Can anyone who ordered from Lenovo share your experience? Thanks.

    • +2

Yes, their courier company in Sydney sucks. It takes a few weeks to arrive. Also the courier company doesn't come the day they say they will - something we learned by staying home awaiting for the delivery twice.

It is a great lappy for this price, though.

      • That really sucks … I need a laptop ASAP

      • I'll second that. The tracking information can be simply wrong. I've had instances when the tracking reports that delivery was completed, but no sign of the laptop. After a night of panic thinking it got stolen, it arrived the next day.

      • i spoke to the rep and the shipping company is dhl and from previous dhl experiences, they come on the day they say

Just checked the material I received from Lenovo and apparently ThinkPad T460S with 256GB SSD is also on sale tomorrow night that's not much more expensive than this. Also X260, ThinkPad Yoga and X1 Yoga.

  • Cool laptop bro, needs more cells

(That's a lot of cells… Great for long haul flights? Unpractical for everyday use though…)

    • I won't be satisfied until my battery icon says, "10 Days Remaining". It would be great to plug in every Sunday night rather than every night. Same with phones.

      • +2

Some phones are almost there, my Xperia z2 only required a recharge every 3-4 days with average use. It'd last well over a week if I avoided social apps.

This is probably one of the best work notebook in the market. It would be better if it is $888 :)

    • It would be even better than that if it was $8.88

      • Still $8.88 too expensive as a "better" deal

        • What's the -vote for? was it because it wasn't one of the best notebook or $888 is not cheap enough? LOL!!!

  • I was looking at this but ended up with the E470 deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/269109)

    Wish I had waited :(

    • +2

      Why? Wasn't that one cheaper?

      • Yeah I took a cheap deal as didn't think this would come down so much so soon and needed a new laptop as my X61 is on it's last legs.

If I had waited until today I prob would have gone for the X1 Yoga deal!! So many deals coming out of Lenovo just now!!

  • Does anyone have info (or previous experience) with warranty repairs with these guys?

    • +1

Im not buying lenovo again because of warranty dealings.. or lack thereof… so much hastle I gave in and fixed what I could myself, could have taken it further but so much pain.. dell on the other hand had great experiences with, still needed a firm hand so to speak but they came to the table, not lenovo…. (first gen thinkpad yoga owner). My suggestions would be get the warranty wheereby you dont have to send it in.. I had this, paid for extended better warranty etc anticipating problems.. waste of money…never return calls or email you when they say they will.. oh no I'm starting to get furious about it all over!!

if you rely on your machine for work purposes keep far far away afaic

      • Find the warranty service to be great a few years back on the x series. Picked up from me and returned in the same week.

        • sounding more like my experiences with dell, but they did it in the same day! to be fair it came down to the contracted repair centre not dell themselves for the repair, but their system to log the repair with a contracted repair center was a1..

I have had a few dealings with them, I returned a Thinkpad Yoga 460 QHD due to some minor issues, and they stuffed up somehow on the refund. After many calls and follow ups it was sorted out.
I have had my i5 T420 from an awesome ozbargain deal back in 2011 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/52289), and it is still unbelievably solid, coupled with one of the 480GB Sandisk SSD recent ozbargain amazon deals, it has superior performance to my recent Thinkpad Yoga 460 FHD which I just got this month.
My T420 has had coffees spilt on it, I can get to the hardware, I can run linux, and it has an awesome keyboard and very robust chassis design. It has so far never missed a beat.
My other warranty dealings with Lenovo have been straightforward, although sometimes going through the overseas call centre with their scripts can be a bit draining, you generally get there in the end.
I will buy more Lenovo Thinkpads, without hesitation.

I'm still rocking mine, now with 16gb of ram and 2 x SDD's. Still waiting on a worthy replacement

  • is the link dead?

    • for some reason didn't work on my work pc too, but worked on another one. so not sure.

  • Nice spot OP

  • From a professional standpoint (I deal with a lot of BYOD) Lenovos, specifically Thinkpads are nothing but a bloody hassle, always having issues.

Bring on the negs for an informed opinion! Bring them!

Edit: though admittedly, I haven't had dealings with this specific model.

    • So then who, or what manufacturer would you recommend for retail sub $2000 pricing models that are reliable and easy to deal with problems?

      • Acers are good, Dells also, but are a hassle to deal with warranties.

Avoid Toshiba, HP and bloody Thinkpads. (HP is debatable)
