BBQ Gas Conversion Kit LPG -> NG $35 @ Bunnings Warehouse (Was $99)

100

In at my local Bunnings in Bendigo (Epsom) and saw they had the gas conversion kit on sale. A steal at $35. Comes with the hoses, connectors, regulator, and ball valve. Note This is not the kit with the bayonet fitting, that's still $99.

I made the switch for my 6 burner jumbuck a few years ago and haven't looked back. No notable loss of heat and no stuffing around with gas bottles. Just in time for summer, no idea if state wide, about 12 kits that I could see in stock.

It's recommended to change your BBQ jets to a bigger size for NG. People have drilled the holes out bigger if you can't find new jets (me included). Do your research first.

  • Good deal but probably store specific? Doesn't appear on website?

  • Store specific?

  • Is this suitable for converting Weber with LPG?

    • I need the opposite (ng to lpg) shame your in melbourne

      • A lot of gas appliances such as cooktops come with LPG regulators and jets that get thrown away. Maybe ask around.

        • That all I need? I tried googling but surprisingly not that many results came up.

          @andyman1908:

You have an NG weber, and want to run it off 9kg cylinders?
Google for info, but I think basically you need to change the jet(s), and put a standard connector on it. If there is aNG pressure regulator (it may just run on household 2.75kPa) remove it.
Remember for google: Americans call a bbq a "grill", and the jet seems to be called an "orifice". HTH.

You'd use a regular BBQ gas hose with regulator attached to the POL plug - forget what I said about scavenging above :)

It should be a DIY job, with usual caveats.
But the LPG -> NG kit is supposed to be used by plumbers only. Which would be why it is clearance. The new ones have bayonet plug, so are legal diy?

        • @manic:

Ya maybe the bayonet plug version is what I need to connect with the existing plug.

    • edit: sorry, did not read the description fully.
