I just got 10% off using that code for my international trip, dunno when it expires though.
If code doesn't work, try this URL: https://www.travelinsurancedirect.com.au/campaigns/justatid/…

A lot of people are lurkers/readers and only join up when they have a reason to, ie if they have their first deal to contribute. These TID 10% off deals are quite common and don't strike me as beneficial to someone who isn't declaring it
Thanks Wampus, that's exactly what happened. I was on OB to find TID deal to get a discount, but couldn't find any non-expired ones. Then I went to another site and got 10% off from a TID ad that showed the code, so I thought it might be useful for others if I joined and posted it.
Not associated with TID at all.
Get free insurance from your credit card
Free credit card insurance doesn't cover everything that TID and the like do - double check what you need before you go
I'd always used TID for my international travel insurance in the past, but have recently swapped to just trusting my CC insurance. What major differences/benefits does paying for TID have?
Check your credit card travel insurance excess, sometimes they may be like $250 to make any claim.
Whereas buying travel insurance independently ussually gives you the option of paying an extra $20-30 for $0 excess, saving you money in the event that you do need to make a claim.
@Rapt0r: I use travel insurance primarily for large claims (e.g. hospital admissions / flight cancellations). In this scenario a $250 excess is not an issue.
A three week trip to Bali is ~$200 with the zero excess option, which makes using the credit card travel insurance less of an option.
@railspider: also, some other travel insurance covers car rental excess. only recently found out that car rental excess applies to you even if you're not at fault.
I also suggest getting a quote at "Online Travel Insurance". I've used them twice now and their premium has been more competitive compared to TID.
Thanks - I have used TID multiple times in the past (and been well supported when I have needed to call them for assistance/claims), but have just purchased with Online Travel Insurance (after reading the inclusions / PDS etc). For a family of 5 it worked out 1/3 cheaper than TID.
The price is very competitive. Other than the high excess ($250) and a mysteriously limited ($50000) amount for "Additional travel expenses for injury or sickness" it seems OK.
SCTI seems to be one of the few that covers cancellation for military coups, which might be useful, but then they limit medical expenses for injuries due to terrorism (which is normally unlimited).
Even Good2Go travel insurance is cheaper than TID without a discount and it has similar overall reviews on Choice (https://www.choice.com.au/compare/travel/money/travel-insura…). Though the website is flaky (e.g. you can't select Myanmar/Burma as a destination).
I wish product reviews only reflected those that made a claim. How does it help me that the "transaction was very smooth". A lot of scam websites have smooth transactions as well but it's kinda irrelevant to my end-goal.
I only prefer to use SCTI because they're cheap without a code and have paid out my miniscule medical expenses the one time I needed them. They still sound greasy as hell on the phone.
With Online Travel Insurance, you have the option of reducing the excess to $150. The premium increase is negligible….
I too have used SCTI. I think their call centre is based in New Zealand.
Anyone know which travel insurance company covers checked in luggages? I lost my checked in bag with Scoot and InsureandGo refused my claim as they dont cover checked in luggaged. Which i found this is really frustrating. So never again I will purchase travel insurance from InsureandGo.
Apparently Good2Go and SCTI do (https://www.choice.com.au/compare/travel/money/travel-insura…) but I'd call ahead and record the conversation. I imagine a lot of pre-conditions.
Shouldn't Scoot be liable?
doesn't work anymore
