  • How does this compare to a Dell monitor of similar size?

    • +1

The closest Dell of comparable specification is the ST2310 which is about $220 incl. delivery & 3yr on-site warranty. Not much difference between them other than style and that the Dell has HDMI input. Hope this helps.

looks good. I paid for a Dell screen, same specs same size for $212 shipped last month. And then I bought another slightly smaller one for $137 which I reoriented it vertically. This HP one looks good, but I can't say about the uniformity of the colours since I haven't seen it in person, but I can say the Dells I have have are perfect (I got these screens after I returned my yellow-tinted iMac).

Note: This HP screen has no HDMI if that bothers you.

I bought the 22-inch widescreen Dell when it was on offer for $137 about 2 weeks ago, so I think I'll pass on this one..

    • i got it…. for 89 XD

      • where? how? :)

        • Lol there was an ebay special 2 weeks ago. $89 for the first 200, then $109 for the second 150. They disappeared like hotcakes (25 mins for the first 200 - people were buying in patches of 10-15!).

What is it with all these 16:9 computer monitors.
16:10 is much nicer to use!

  • 16:10 is now all $$$$

and no one likes the black bars when you watch a movie

    • +2

Thats what we have TV's for

The other thing is aside from height a 16:9 and 16:10 monitor are essentially the same size.

The 16:9 monitor is shorter than the 16:10 so in day to day activities you have less screen space to display things on.

Watching a 16:9 movie on a 16:10 monitor results in the same sized image. The black bars you see is the extra space you have for daily activities.

    • +2

This has been discussed before, most films nowadays are 2.39:1 so you will get black bars regardless of 16:10 or 16:9

      • yeah but you get smaller black bars with 16:9 :)

        • 4:3. the way of the future :P

        • In Media Player Classic I have my scroll wheel assigned to PnS Inc/Dec Size, so I can strike a comfortable balance between black bar reduction and cropping. A trivial amount of cropping on the sides, for example, will eliminate the black bars when 16:9 movies are played on 16:10 monitors.

It sucks that free adjustment of zoom, in fine steps across a broad range, isn't a standard feature of hardware and software players.

      • WTF…. they've changed the format again?

        • Unfortunately computer monitors have been moving to 16:9 for a long time now

  • Just ordered one, love the design.

  • I would get this if i was sure i wont be getting a EoY laptop deal…

Still a plus for me, nice find!

  • huh, there is no deal about this and COTD flog off some really suss factory seconds with terrible customer support.

    • +1

3 year on site warranty for a factory second? I don't think so.

      • -2

so you dont beleive there is any warranty on seconds?
