Had one for 4 years. No service yet and still starts first time
      (meant for comment below)

  • What's the line trimmer llke? I'm in the market.

I got one 2 years ago from aldi, easily used maybe 30-40 times. The spark plug cover and wire got a bit worn and the wire came through, bit of electrical tape and off it went.

      • Thanks for your review. Technically you still have another year of warranty too.

    • Bunnings have a similar one for $84, everyday price. I'll wait for a bargain.

Thanks OP! Agree, see what Bunnings reply is this week.

    • Yep. I bought a mower based on a Bunnings 'reply' and pretty happy with it.

      • The $149 mower? I have a soft catcher not a fan of mulch going through the mesh. Hopefully the hard catcher makes it easier for sensitive noses.

        • Yes that one. I guess it was a good price, not so sure about the soft catcher though like you say.

  • Lawn mower looks like same one as supercheap sell, honda knock off motor.. they run well

    • +1

Looking closer it has the same catcher design, it's really flawed. The grass doesn't completely go into the catcher, when you go to unload the section between the blade and catcher is blocked with grass and ends up going everywhere but the catcher.

      • +1

I share the same experience. For me it only seems to go into the catcher properly when you're cutting grass that's already very short. Anything moderately grown will mean that the catcher clogs. Cheap mower let down by terrible design, I bought mine last year and don't recommend it.

Brought one from Bunnings that's doing that but it had soft catcher I thought that was the issue, really annoying have to crawl in all the grass into the catcher when you open it up…

        • Why crawl in there? You must be tiny mike.

        • How about use the petrol blower to blast the grass out of the mower when u open it up

  • sweet, a chainsaw! I've really wanted one for a while now, will be front and centre

    • +6

yup! just in time for Halloween. Now where can I buy a clown mask….

    • Actually your best to hold the chainsaw a bit to your right Matt.

  • Is the blower vac any good?

    • like to know too ~

  • Was waiting for masters to get more of a mar down, these mowers any good?

Should mention I've owned one of the Aldi chainsaws for about 4 years.. solid unit, the original chain was rubbish and would get blunt in no time but replacement chain fixed that. I've cut loads of wood with it, including tea tree and apart from an occasional service (air filter clean and chain sharpen/tension) it seems it won't die anytime soon. Mine has a 14" bar so smaller than this unit but probably same 'cc. The only downside is the chain tension setup… mine came with a tool to undo the bar bolts for adjustment. Can be tedious to tension.. otherwise I can't kill it!

  • I wonder how heavy the hedge trimmer is anything over 5kg is going hurt especially holding shoulder height.

  • What's the regular price on these units?

  • Note. Interesting to see what Bunnings does next week. So even if you miss out on the Aldi rush, might have another chance at Bunnings.

I noticed the price drop on this Bunnings lawn mower which could be the response.

    • So predictable. Wait for the line trimmers too

Here it is. 99c cheaper. Now which is the better buy?
Aldi has 3yr warranty vs 1yr for Bunnings.
Aldi takes 3mm line vs 2.4mm.
Aldi cutting path is 375mm, but Bunnings is 435 mm.
Aldi has no other stats listed.

Will you be able to refill the Aldi line with replacement from Bunnings?

        • Yeah leaning towards aldi. But annoying thing about aldi is that they sell out fast. You have to be there at 8am Saturday morning. Also warranty is more troublesome. Bunnings warranties r more accessible.

  • Grabbed lawn mower from St Marys. There were 10 left as of 9am. Staff was bringing more stock from the backroom.

  • Great to see all of the feral rats this morning clawing at each other for lawn mowers. Glad Aldi had plenty of stock out back.

    • Not everywhere though, Aldi Bathurst had 15 and were sold out just after they opened by people that were there from 8am..

  • Bought a line trimmer from Oxenford. About 40 people lined up at 8am, when I grabbed mine there was 15-20 left.

    Used it to brushcut today.

Great upgrade from bunnings homelite I had for 10 years. Quieter, smoother, slightly heavier, much less vibration, overall much better build quality. Much less fatigue from noise and vibration after 30 mins of edge cutting. Included line pretty weak so will have to grab some industrial cord. Comes with 3mm cord which is a bit weak but will fit 4mm I think.

Pretty happy with the purchase would recommend.

To the people comparing to the Bunnings machine I can tell you this is a much better machine, but can't knock mine too much as went ten years with one spark plug and a few fuel line replacements.

  • Anyone start using the mower yet? Any initial reviews?

  • Aldi Kallangur has 1 mower- 3 Line trimmers- 5 Blowers

    for anyone still looking.

  • Purchased the mower and took it out of the box. With no throttle control and a weird blade setup now wondering if I will fire it up or just return it.

  • Just a quick update. Filled the mower up with oil and petrol and it started first go. Did the front and back lawns and it did a great job - it started each time I stopped it to empty the catcher. As someone said earlier, the design with the shoot for the catcher is a little flawed as some grass does get stuck, but it's not that big a deal to scoop it out (with the mower off of course!). It's a $139 mower so can't expect too much. I'm happy!!

    • Is no throttle an issue?

      • No throttle wasn't really an issue - seemed to have enough power to do my job. The mower isn't super powerful (remember it's only $139), I guess it depends on your area to mow etc. My old mower had a throttle etc and was much more powerful, but was on the way out.

  • Think I will return. Can see a world of pain in a few years.

  • It`s not starting and my arm is now in so much pain after pulling cord time and again.

Should I return or other way to start it?

    • Are you referring to line trimmer or mower? My line trimmer is not starting. Followed instruction manual to the word, mixed fuel correctly, pumped, full choke, pull cord while holding trigger and.. nothing. Spark plug seem like its working. Grass is still long.

      • mixed fuel correctly

        2 stoke should be banned.

we bought a tb 4 stroke from masters. it costs more, but starts every time, more cc, no fuel smell and excessive smoke.

        • Going masters as well I think.
