Comments on Amazon:

Question: Ok- is this just rain-x marketed differently? I bought it, but haven't seen it's results yet… tell me why it's better please!

Answer:

I have had excellent result from it when I did my shower glass one year ago it's still good by not leaving water spot on glass.in a month or two I will have to applied again. If you do it as listed it will give you good result.

We have had it for sometime now and only wipe up the water drops with a dry cloth and have had no serious cleaning or scrubbing to do. We like it.

I've not used Rain-X so I can't help you. Perhaps you should email the company for an answer.

Hi Dan,
EnduroShield products are 100% different from products like Rain-X which create a slippery surface.
First, our products are monomers, not polymers — this is a very big difference in terms of the thickness which bring us the the second difference. EnduroShield relies on the molecules of the product itself to create the water & oil repellent surface, whereas other products make the surface slippery in order to work.
Lastly, whereas products like the one you mention require essentially treating the surface over and over to keep it working, the EnduroShield will last for years on a single application — beyond three in this case with the home product.
Lastly, we do not rely on buying patent rights, we are not a re-brand of any other product — all EnduroShield products are solely our own.
If you have any other questions feel free to reach out to us directly.
Regards,
The EnduroShield Team see less

  • his the same as rainX ?

    • I didn't use rainX before, but I guess it may last much longer than rainX's

      • +8

rain X lasts for ages as well, I am thinking they are the same product.
good price at $10 as rain X is around $15

edit rain x is $12 but bottle is more than double the size

From supercheapauto seems the Rain X has a lot more volume compared to Enduro's 40ml.
Although the Enduro is a kit, while Rain X is the spray only.

        • @cwongtech:
You can get a bottle too that you rub on glass like a polish, I suspect the Aldi one is the same.
My link went to the bottle, and yes it's a lot bigger , 103 ml to aldis 40 ml.

The sink and tiles version isn't as good as the glass.

    • Four times the price of rain-x. Is it that much better?

      • +1

When we renovated the bathroom I applied this enduroshield from Bunnings, following the right procedure…… It lasted 18 months till I moved out. I live in a very hard water area and local town water is very harsh.

        • -1

So I can't use enduroshield windshield on my bathroom?

        • Might give it a go. Ta.

        • @thevofa:
The kit from Bunnings had the two parts. Follow the application instructions, it's easy to apply. We did it from new when i renovated and had no issues. We have very hard local water.

        • +2

          @televisi:
The 500ml kit from Bunnings is $30 per 100ml.
The 40ml windscreen aldi is $25 per 100ml.
The 500ml kit comes with the cleaner to prep the glass first. We applied from new and 18months later when I lost the house to the ex wife, it was still good.

        • @albanyson: Got clean out?

JV and I were only just talking about whether or not you were going to get one, so thanks for letting us know.

      • +2

Lol Both of you three are welcome..

  • +6

This company seems a bit scammy. It's 40ml for $10 when RainX is only $17 for 200ml, they also sell the same stuff with a different label for showers ($50) and pool fences ($150)

    • +2

Lol definitely scammy. Monomers bond to form polymers which form the polymer layer, so how can a monomer layer be thicker than a polymer? Duh…

      • Hi RedKelah,

        I guess you got misunderstanding.

For my understanding, it means the coating of Enduroshield is much thinner than Rain X like products'.

So It can last longer and not need to be re-applied frequently.

From my experience, I only applied it last september. And yes, you obviously need to do normal cleaning up job when it gets dirt. but just use clean water or even windex spary is OK and no need to re-apply again.

Now more than one year later, water repellent still working on rain days.

I spray it on my kids in winter… Much cheaper than raincoats !!!

Spray it on your kit this time… much cheaper than protection

Just a quick note about this product, if it works the same way as RainX. It's brilliant in preventing water build up on windscreens, but it's also prone to making windscreen wipers squeal and shudder when active. It takes quite a long time to wear off.

    • +1

Its ok with rubber wipers but not silicon.

    • +1

As the Q&A mentioned on the post, the enduroshield is not the same as the Rain X products.

I never experienced the wiper problem at all.

  • +6

The Armorall Rain Repellent is $7.99 for 125mls (20% off) at Woolworths until midnight tomorrow night (Tuesday).

Have used RainX for well over 10 years and it's great. Tried the Armorall one from Woolworths on a previous deal and it's just as good from my experience.

I haven't had the windscreen wiper shudder problem with either product on our 2 cars.

In regards to RainX spray on mentioned earlier… Not sure what that one is as I've always used the bottles, which require you to clean your windscreen first, then apply it with a cloth.
There's another one that you can add to your windscreen water reservoir and have that spray on when you use your wipers, but it's pretty piss weak.

Edit- I've never had the wiper problem mentioned earlier with our 2 cars using the 2 brands I've mentioned.

    • Hey, Rattle, I haven't tried armorall and rainx things before

I am quite happy to try them in the future.

Would you mind give some suggests that how long they may last? how often are they needed to be re-applied?

      • +5

        Hi mate.
Not really sure I can give an accurate answer as it depends on the weather.
Just recently in the heavy rains, I applied each brand once a week (tried to compare them).
I'd say that was because I'd have to give my windscreen a good wash ever couple of days as I work night shift and the bugs I get on the window can be insane out here in the country.

During winter, I think I applied it once a fortnight, but again, I'd be washing the windows more than the average person, due to bugs.
At other times of the year, I don't use it unless I know there is rain forecast for the coming days.

The bottles last quite a while as you don't use much on your cloth each time. My last bottle of RainX lasted maybe 18 months?

It's pretty amazing almost not having to use wipers at all in the rain, but this is pretty much when you are doing maybe 80k's plus as the wind will just blow the beads of water straight off. Even at lower speeds in town, you don't use the wipers as much and the vision is a lot clearer between swipes of the blades.

        • Hey rattle, any other car products you recommend specifically?
With windscreen liquid, I was told Diluted Windex can work, what are your thoughts?
Also any tips with wiper cleaning at all so it doesn't damage the layer of RainX?

        • +3

          Hi mate.
No, sorry. Don't really have much more to add other than trying not to wash your windscreen too often, if possible, so that layer of product stays there a bit longer.

I'm not a car nut at all and I barely ever wash our cars (other than windows) and can't think of any other products or maintenance that I'd do to them enough to comment.
I do recommend Powerbulbs from the UK for way better than local pricing on all car bulbs when they have 20-25% off sales.

I've only had the above experience with the Armaroll and RainX and thought my comments might help someone.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Edit - Oh, not sure if it helps, but after doing the windscreen, I rub the wiper blades clean with a cloth and then rub them down with the cloth that is still damp with RainX or Armorall.

  • -2

    Come on
    Compare products
    Aldi have a Bunnings attitude
Get you in with so called cheap prices, then sting you on specialist products

  • Whats the best way to clean a glass shower screen before I put this on?

    • +20

I find it best to nude up and hose it down whilst rubbing my hairy body against the glass. Others may have a different method though.

      • +6

Nope, this is pretty much the only proven method.

        • +7

So the only way to clean my shower is to use wallyt99's naked hairy body? Wallyt99, can you swing by later? Thanks.

        • @subywagon: I'm sure they would love to sweetie, but are you paying the fare for the crossing? (vic to tas) 😀

    • +1

By far the best and easiest thing for cleaning soap scum from glass showers is formaldehyde-melamine-sodium bisulfite copolymer, try asking at your favorite store for the magic erasing stuff that's used as sound/thermal insulation on bullet trains.

    Metho
    Between shots of course
Just call it curicao at party's

    • Please dont do this.. It's been poisoned so human consumption is no longer suitable. There's being cheap and then there's being a murderer

      • +5

        Relax it was a joke
I would never use metho my windscreen
Might be able to see all the pockemon players I'm hitting

      • +1

Cmon, you never had a metho and coke?

        • +2

The metho cleans the nostrils out really well after the coke.

        • +1

Aldi Vodka and coke pretty much the same yeah?

      • Now for some history -:\ metho and brown nugget. Beer was in short supply during WW2.
Drinking avoided conscription and eventually life.

I use this method for "super-cleaning" my windscreen:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D05vX-G9iV4

Essentially - get the finest (0000) steel wool, rub all over the windscreen to get rid of any tiny imperfections, then apply Rain-X twice. Water sheets off like nothing else!

    • sorry to be lazy but where can I get 0000 steel wool from?

      • +2

        Bunnings.

        • thanks, gotta give this a go.

        • @zorrt:
          /uni-pro-50g-grade-0000-sifa-steel-wool-hobby-pack_p1660127

They also do a larger pack.

        • @albanyson: thanks, pretty cheap so I'll go grab a pack later this week.

        • @zorrt:
Let us know how you get on. I have no hesitation tonusing razor blades to clean windows/glass, haven't used the 0000steel wool on glass yet.

I also use the 0000 to clean bathroom fittings and taps/towel rails etc that might get a little tarnished or so.

  • SCA has their own branded one which seems cheaper when looking at size.no sure if it's a watered down version

    http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/Invisible-Glass-Rai…

  • The oleophobic coating on my phone has warn out recently and I heard that Rain X can be applied to the screen to get a similar effect to the oleophobic coating.
Can the Enduroshield achieve a similar or better result and does anyone know if the chemicals in the product are safe?

    • Don't take it to a bar

  • To those using this in their bathroom: would using cleaning chemicals (such as shower cleaners) not strip the product from the surface?

  • +2

Don't forget if it doesn't work, you can return it within 60 days but must also give them your windscreen.

    • What if you sprayed it on your kit

      • +1

Bring it in to show them and also a stat dec from your girlfriend to say it didn't create a slippery surface.

  • Not sure if this is any good. I bought an American brand (I can't remember the name ATM) and had a disastrous result. For some reason it smeared my windows, so every time it rains, I could hardly see anything thru the smears. It's been six months now and have tried everything from metho to kerosene to take the gunk off and it still sticks to the glass like glue.

I'm not very happy at all :((((((

  • Can I substitute this for FogX?

    • No

  • This is one is very good as well, the same been used at the car factory as an additional option.
