This one also includes the Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-50mm 1:3.5-6.3 EZ lens comes with a ultra-smooth, near-silent electromagnetic zoom mechanism that powers the lens on its own - no potentially jerky wristwork required.
Currently, on Cambuy the price is showing $1499.
My apologies, if I am looking at the wrong page.

      • no potentially jerky wristwork required.

        That's what she said.

No. You're right. They're different kits, but perhaps I should expound a bit; I was saying that the Adventure kit with the ($100 more expensive!) 14-150 lens was $200 cheaper than this Weatherproof kit. So this isn't really a bargain. Sorry for the one liner. You did good OP, but Olympus can do better than this.

They'll be trying to get as many new buyers as they can, given Sony just announced their new a6500.

    • -1

lol. I get negged for that comment….there's obviously some precious baby fanbois here.

      • a6500 will be $2000 in au right?

        • -1

Prob. somewhere between $1800-$2000, I would guess.

Price has nothing to do with it though - once you have invested in a system, it's cost-prohibitive to change to another. All the manufacturers know this - hence whey Oly will be trying to get some additional market share now.

        • @manicmoose:

Switch from Canon to Sony isn't as painful thx to the ef to e mount adapter available. Not to sure on how good other autofocus adapter is for other brand.

Several years pack when auto focus adapter mount was slow or non-exsisting it was an expensive move.

        • @shoppingbag: The trouble with that this time is that you're likely going to need a new adapter (that's not even made yet) due to the new OIS built into the Sony that will likely get confused by the old adapters and cause issues.

        • @manicmoose:

That issue for all the current Sony body I believe has been solve a while ago via getting the right adapter or updating the firmware. user error (which is harder to fix) is something that will always occur.

Edit: lens OS and ibis for camera body such as Sony a7rii work with the user being able to select which one they want to used for example

        • @shoppingbag:
So canon lens can be used on Sony via ef to e mounte adaptor? How good is the AF?

        • @manicmoose: If you can't manually disable the IBIS or the lens IS, you probably should just stick to your iPhone.

        • @Jamesx: AF with DSLR lenses is generally fast with the newer a6300, a6500, a7II and a7rII. Pretty much unusable with any of the older emount bodies.

    • I dont get whats so great about the 6500? Its back to the future for most of its NEW features, and you might as well go A7 for the lenses

      • better version of the 6300 which is a better version of the 6000
it is in a class of it's own like the rx100

    Meh.

Tempting - but the EM1 mkII looks amazing.

This is so expensive compared to the Fuji X-t10 which takes better pictures, is smaller and lighter, has a better selection of lenses and will be half the price if you wait for a Dick Smith/Kogan 20% discount code from ebay. Fair enough this one comes with a lens but that doesn't justify the extra cost. The Olympus may have built in image stabilisation but pretty much all of the fuji lenses have stabilisation built in to them and you get far better results when it's built in to the lenses.

    • Oh yeah, no image stabilisation on Fuji prime lenses definitely outperforms the body stabilisation in the Olympus.

You can get it for $1499.95 + 20% + shippping at Ted's Cameras on eBay. It totals $1,209.91 for anyone interested - it's the same lens too.
