Would not buy LG again. Their screens have the worst uniformity, Samsung are much better.

+1 to that, I have any LG 60UF850T from last year ebay 20% Off Deal and the backlight bleeding, banding, DSE (Dirty Screen Effect), Screen Panning issue has been rampant. I am fighting with LG to get a different replacement model or a full refund. Problem is 98% of the sheep buyers dont even realise that they have these issues !

      • Not sure if UF850T is the same as UF8500, but that model somehow scored a 0 out of 10 for black uniformity on rtings.com lol

I can't imagine how bad letterboxed movies would be

      • Yeah I was horrified with it. I bought it from JBHIFI and didn't notice it for a month, but then I started watching sports, docos and playing GTA V and it was so obvious!! Really terrible. I put up with it for a month, then went back to JB and asked what they could do. Returned it and will be upgrading to a Samsung instead. Even their top of the range 950T had really bad DSE/banding, not good enough when spending close to 4k IMO.
I have heard that LG refuse to acknowledge the issue and will tell people that is "within spec" so glad the retailer sorted it out for me before it was too late..

        • LG: "It's not a QC issue, that's just how LCD TV's look. Oh by the way, have you seen our new OLED TV's?"

        • Just like they 'acknowledged' the LG G4 bootloop issue.
LG have tainted my idea of them…for quite some time. Shame really

after seeing their flasgship 75", hideous edge lit nonsense, almost unwatchable with any of the image processing junk turned on.

on the upside the built in netflix app works well, for now.

    • Can always remortgage the house and buy one of their OLEDs.. :P

could agree more, I have the 65ut770 and its by far the worst TV I have ever bought

  • +2

color banding is horrible, motion/panning will make you sick. Honestly I think you could buy a soniqe or similar brand that would be of better quality. Generally a unpleasant experience watching TV

I have to agree that LG have lost the plot. However, Panasonic is often overloooked but is at least equal to Samsung in terms of picture quality and reliability.

    • +1

yup .. its a shame they didn't keep up the momentum they had with their plasma screens early on (i.e. move into the LED space earlier).. with sony being up and down(and expensive) and LG offering sub par quality, sammy doesn't need to get into a price war to move units….

  • All my LG TV's are fine.. i did see one in the store that looked shocking though.. washed out edges all over the place.. its a luck of the draw thing i guess.

    i have a 2012 47" passive 3D 200Hz a 2015 65" Passive 3D 4k RGB 200Hz and a 2016 65" WRGB HDR 100Hz

The software is by far the biggest selling point.. my sister and brother have new 2015 and 2016 large LG's and they love them

    • The software is good I agree. I don't know about the older LG sets, maybe they were better. But for 2016 there are reviews and forums all over the internet complaining about DSE issues.

But I really think that a lot of people do not pay attention and cannot see the DSE/banding issues which plague these sets. Maybe due to the fact they don't watch sports or content with a lot of panning and bright sky.

    • I bought my 55EC930T 55" OLED in 2014 and it was the best purchase I've ever made. Never missed a beat. Excellent software and fantastic picture quality. Can usually get the 55EG910T around $2.2k if you look around.

      2016 65" WRGB HDR 100Hz

The UH652 series of 2016 is a WRGB is a huge offender, I have the UF850 2015 Model and at least its a native 200Hz RGB panel with >80% DCI P3 Rec 2020 coverage, I know people only care how good those demo videos play and pay $4000 happily.

A BIG LOL if you dont have DSE and panning issue with that. Can you please wait for tonight, turn all lights off and play the DSE and panning videos on youtube, pretty please. You will be horrified and disgusted. Problem is people like you who don't report the issue or dont think its an issue and LG can keep selling these TVs

    • Not sure if they've improved recently, but one thing I don't like about LG is their upscaling performance.

    Thanks, Sergeant Salami.

If you could see me now I'd be saluting your meatiness.

    • you dont salute a sgt, only officers

      • You do if they're tasty cured meat.

  • was about to buy 4k LG 55" 652T or something like that for around $1400 …. now I dont know what to get

  • Was nearly buying 4k LG 55" 652T at $1395 in TGG and now I have read these experiences of fellows

What to do now? Saw Rtings website…TCL panel Seema good, -any suggestions for TCL..or start finding SAMSUNG ??

  • Samsung, but if your on a budget Hisense make a great budget TV
