Seems like decent specs for a surface alternative. I've always been bugged by the 4GB of ram in most 2-in-1s, so 8GB is nice.

  • That's a good price.

  • sweet specs

    • m7-6Y75 is 1.2 GHz.. seemingly quite inferior benchmarks..

Am I reading something wrong? (Advise please)

      • +1

No I don't think you're reading anything wrong - you can get a much better processor and GPU in a similarly priced laptop (e.g. in this deal). But then again, a desktop would be even better. So you always have to pay a premium if you need the extra portability.

        • thanks.. would 8GB Ram make up for the processor deficiencies?

        • @ashar:

I'd say depends on what you use the computer for. Processor passmark is comparable to i3-6100u

  • +1

    Is it 1080p or 1440p??

    • 1440p, sorry mind blanked when writing title

      • Not ya fault, Amazon have messed it up as well.

  • Solid find OP. Very tempting

Typing on one now. They are very nice, but don't expect great things from the pen.

    • Typing on one too, but I don't think this model comes with a stylus

      • Yep. The average stylus kept me away (that and the keyboard issues many have experienced).

    • +1

but don't expect great things from the pen.

It a working keyboard. It's Ben months and Lonovo still haven't fixed this.

Wow, this kids, is why you don't OzBargain while waking up.

That was meant to read, "Also don't expect a working keyboard. It's been months and Lonovo still haven't fixed this."

      • You know Surface Pro 4 have the same issue with their keyboards. We have over 100 units here at work and it's all pretty random that the keyboard just stops working and the only way to fix it is disconnect and reconnect the keyboard.

  • This is a tempting deal, my only worry is I remember reading that Lenovo do not have international warranty for online purchases. Anyone care to comment?

Edit: Did some searching and it appears they do have IWS for certain models, including this one.

    • Amazon have 30 day return policy for any reason and they pay shipping.

      • Is that an unofficial policy? The website says: "You may return any new computer purchased from Amazon.com that is "dead on arrival," arrives in damaged condition, or is still in unopened boxes, for a full refund within 30 days of purchase"

    • Edit: Did some searching and it appears they do have IWS for certain models, including this one.

Go look at the previous Lonovo deals, IWS won't cover Amazon purchases as you need either a US passport or Visa.

I want to ship to sydney, but it says they don't ship to sydney. Anyone know how it works?

So core m7 is equivalent to i3/i5/what???

    • i was wondering the same thing, tried my hand at an amateur search to compare this with the Surface Pro 4 (i5 variant about $1630 in recent deal), I got this:

      http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-6300U-vs-Intel-Core-M7…

The Surface Pro 4 is the Intel Core i5-6300U, this one is the Core M7-6Y75. looks like single core performance on M7-6Y75 is a slight tad weaker and in graphical power it is weaker, but the M7-6Y75 also has better battery life I believe. Both dual-cores.

      Again I am no expert.

Also this: "Actual performance of the Core m7-6Y75 greatly depends on cooling capabilities and TDP configuration of the related device. While the CPU may be similar to a Core i5-6300U (Skylake, 15 W) in short benchmarks, its performance will fall short of a Core i3-6100U under continuous full load." http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-m7-6Y75-SoC.149445.0…

Edit: also another comparison of this to the surface pro 3 (scroll down to Benchmarks) http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/laptops-portable-pcs…

Core m7 is a passively cooled (i.e. no fan) processor with a lower thermal limit. Long, denanding tasks it tends to be a slug but for general browsing/office its perfectly capable.

The idea is to maximise battery life while still being snappy for 90% of anything you'd do with it.

  • And no Australian warranty!

  • no warranty

  • Patiently waiting for the Asus Transformer 3 Pro.
Harvey Norman has the same Miix 700 model for slightly more but I'm sure the guys there could bring down the price a bit.

    • Unless they want to cover a greater loss with more of their own money, they wont be able to drop the price lower.
Those models are on clearance and drop below cost on their system.

  • The 710 and 720 models with intel gen 7 chips are due soon. May see some local deals when the 700 model is been run out.

  • Anyone used one of these to run AutoCAD/Inventor/SolidWorks or basic video processing like Windows movie maker? I remember a colleague telling me that surface 2 pro could do these things but that was awhile ago now

  • Be warned: Core M series CPUs can variate in performance massively, due to power limits set by manufacturers. These CPUs can be pushed to 7W or lowered to 3.5W, so they will peform differently.

  • Anyone seriously interested in this, they should hold off until Adorama do the exact same deal for $599 … look it up (not on here) and you'll see they do the M5/4GB/128SSD version for $459-499 and the M7/8GB/256SSD version for $599 quite regularly the last few months…

  • I got the Lenovo Yoga 510 141sk from officeworks instead. $788

Processor: Intel Pentium 4405U, Dual-Core, up to 2.1 GHz

  • Can someone interpret this about the Lenovo AU warranty?

    https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/61gcK8DIZNS…

    • That is just a generic upload. As you're buying from the US, the Australian section isn't relevant.

Go read direct from Lonovo the conditions of international warranty and you will see this doesn't qualify.

      • Yeah thought so, good point … emailed Lenovo support to clarify.
