Coleman Lakeside 6 Geodesic Tent for $214.90 + Free Delivery* @ Snowys (RRP $470.00)

90

You might have seen our Black Wolf Turbo Tent listing recently - well, we realise not everyone wants to invest in a home away from home. Most folks only head off on a camping adventure a few times a year and need a tent that's going to provide shelter against the sun and rain without costing the earth.

Well, I'm going to say it, the Coleman Lakeside Geodesic 6 is one of the best value tents in our range. Why? Let me tell you:

  • It's really solid, even in moderately windy conditions. Dome tents and wind don't often play nice together. The Lakeside, though, with it's geodesic design - it has a lot of poles going on - offers support you don't usually find in a dome tent.

  • It's spacious. Whether you're mum, dad, and the kids; or a space-loving couple, the Lakeside Geo is one roomy tent. It'll sleep 6 adults on self-inflating mats, and will accommodate a couple of large stretchers nicely. The large vestibule will allow you to enjoy the outdoors, even if the weather isn't great.

  • It's a Coleman. We sell more Coleman tents than any other and receive very few complaints and warranty claims. They make solid tents at a good price.

  • The price is right. $214.90 for a quality, durable, and spacious family dome tent? That's pretty good value right there.

Like to talk specs? Here's some for you:

  • Sleeps up to 6
  • Floor dimensions: 535L x 245Wcm
  • Height: 205cm
  • Packed Size: 61L x 32W x 32Dcm
  • 2000mm waterhead
  • 2 side windows
  • Fully enclosed front vestibule
  • Front awning
  • Four entrances
  • Includes carry bag

What our customers have to say:

"This is a great family tent! Sleeps our family of 5 in the main body of the tent leaving the vestibule free for all of our gear. The main cabin of the tent is spacious enough to accommodate a king size air mattress and a king single air mattress, both from the Coleman Bigfoot series. Very cost effective to purchase also. Takes 30mins at most to erect with my wife helping me. Have gone on 3 camping trips with it this year and am looking forward to the next one with this great tent!" ~ Jim, Geelong

"We put it up for the first time in the dark, easy as. I can confirm it is waterproof and really stable in the wind. Nice and roomy inside. Really fast shipping from Snowy's too! Thanks." ~ Tim, Sydney

"Took this tent camping for the first time to Denmark WA. We had four seasons just about everyday. It had good air circulation, stood up to the wind and kept us nice and dry. What I love about this tent is its height and how roomy it is. I found first time setup more challenging that others have below but it didn't take too long and it will be much easier next time around. Love Snowy's excellent service." ~ Leonie, Perth

*Free delivery available to most of Australia. Generally, only if you're in woop woop will you pay delivery and even then a reasonable fee. More info here.

Looks like a good deal, which would you recommend for a once to twice a year family of 4.

I'm looking at the Coleman Riverview 10 you have for sale too.

    • Decisions, decisions, @Darkii! :P Truth is, both are ripper tents and great value for money. The benefit of the Riverview 10 is (1) the size and (2) the fact you can have two separate sleeping spaces. The Lakeside is more a sleeping space and a living space. I think the Lakeside is a breezier tent - more headroom, more big windows. The Riverview also has a nifty, stiff swing-shut door. No more asking the kids, "Were you born in a tent?"

      Hope that helps. Cheers, Paul

    • 18kg, @Cheapblock. Not light, but not crazy heavy either. Quite a compact package when packed down - it'll easily fit in the boot of even smaller cars.

Just need an extra push to push me over the line to buy this one!

    • That's our everyday price, @Skyworlds. Just had a gander and it looks to be the lowest in Australia. :) Buy with confidence. Cheers, Paul

  • Hey OP

A mate and i are heading off on the Mystery Box Rally soon (a cancer council fundraiser https://mysterybox2016.everydayhero.com/au/strayan-sheikhs if anyone is interested). We need a tent to house ourselves and a small amount of kit. 2 people. Can you reccomend anything?

    Cheers

    • G'day Matt. The Mystery Box sounds fantastic. Good on you for participating - I have so much respect for the Cancer Council. I guess the nature of the event makes it a little tricky when choosing the right gear, doesn't it? Not knowing where you're actually going.

Let's narrow it down a little bit though. Some questions for you - answering these will help me in making a recommendation:

      • Do you have any idea where you'll be camping - what sort of environment, climate, etc?
      • How often will you use the tent?
      • What sort of money are you looking at spending?
      • Are you looking for something that'll do for this trip, or something that you can use for years to come?
      • After something easy-peasy to set up, or don't mind dealing with a few poles?

      Cheers, Paul

      • Hey Paul, thanks for the response. Unfortunately we've got no idea where we'll be using it, such is the mystery haha. As long as it keeps us dry for this event, we'll be happy. Ease of putting it up is high on the agenda. Cost wise.. well who knows haha. The less we spend the more we can put into the event i suppose (we're working on a budget, anthing left over at the end goes in as a donation)

We're probably looking at one of these http://www.snowys.com.au/Tents-Shelters/Touring-Tents/Instan…

        • Nicely picked, Matt. I was going to recommend a Coleman Instant Up. The Traveller is a fine tent, though quite lightweight and not exactly 'stormproof'. If you don't know where you're heading, I would certainly carry more tent than you need.

For something a little more robust in winds and rain, consider the Instant Up 4 or even better the Instant Up 4 Gold.

          Cheers, Paul

    • The price you see on our website is already our discounted price, @djbst! Should be about as cheap as you'll find in Australia. So buy, buy, buy. :) Cheers, Paul
