  • When did this get announced?

would probably be better to wait for a VR bundle?

And I wonder since it's not technically a bundle but having the items "shipped with your order" if you could claim price protection if it is available cheaper elsewhere :/

    • I guess, is always better to wait, but for how long? Prices will drop or maybe boxing day sales promo? Or wait for PS4 Pro to come out and see reviews between the two and then decide? Is easier to be said to 'wait' as always……yes you can get this bundle for $300 or less next year Sept 2017 when NBA & FIFA 18s are out……now i get fifa 16 or nba 16 at half price since its release…..but i missed out 1 year of fun…

I prefer to get it in store…may pricematch at EB see how…

      • Thanks for the feedback but I think you missed my point, I agree people on here tend to wait "too long" on a purchase when the console and games will actually pay themselves off quite easily. You may buy at a higher price to the current bargain but you'll go out to less restaurants or bars with friends, that's less petrol and money on parking or public transportation where you could be having friends over or online gaming with them and spending far less money.

My point was with VR coming out next month, if you're interested in VR it would probably work out cheaper to wait for a VR bundle, that's only a month away to see what's even going to be on offer, I'm not talking about waiting 12 months or anything crazy like that where obviously you'll be missing out on game time significantly plus the games in this case becomes obsolete.

        • I mean the VR is around 500 and the PS4 is around 500 Any bundle would be at least 750/800? Just adding my 2 cents.

        • @Blancos4Lyf: exactly so if you're after VR you stand to potentially save $200+ which is greater than 2 games we will probably see worth $50-$60 in the next 2 months especially if you're only interested in 1 of the 2 games i'm sure some ozBargainers will be selling on the classifieds for a fair price.

        • @yacman: Yeah but the wait till the vr bundles will be october when the VR gets release if not November 10 when the Ps4 Pro gets release, so if you can't wait, then this deal is good.

The VR is another Gimmick released to try and make money, it'll be fun for the first couple of weeks/months, like Samsungs S-pen and the Playstation move controller, it'll drop in price real quick so if you're gonna wait for the bundles might as well wait even longer for the price drop haha!

EDIT: Don't get me wrong there are people who use the S-pen all the time and there will be people using the VR headset, but for majority, (in my opinion) it'll be a gimmick.

So who is going to pay $149 for those games

    • errr…..many?

I will pay if i want to play it on first day… but some will play it next year which will be $40. but………..that's next year :(.

      • -2

        So the ps4 isn't $349 then

      • -1

No one is going to buy a second hand game on release and pay retail prices.

    • +1

Considering they're both the biggest and most popular sport gaming franchises, a lot of people.

      I pre-ordered both for $79 each.

This package is going to be very popular. I'd probably jump at this deal if I didn't have a PS4.

  • this price seems great. Suppose NBA and FIFA 17 will drop in price to around 40$, its still cheap for the new PS4 with new controller. Good for football fans like me.

    • -4

Football in here cant fit into NBA nor FIFA mate.

      • my bad haha. Soccer fans :P

        • All good !!

  • JB.HIFI has the PS4 PRO for $559.

    • Without NBA and FIFA

  • -1

Yeah, not going to call this a deal as for an extra $50 you can get a PS4 Pro.

  • Wish they had a deal on the Pro

Such a shame it doesn't do UHD Disks though, have a feeling overall the new XB Scorpeo is going to be better, will probably do 4K properly (Pro does not output gameplay on high settings) and like the XBOS will have UHD Disk playback.

      • -1

Every time someone mentions the Pro, you're guaranteed there's someone else not far off to chime in about the lack of UHD player.

        • "(Pro does not output gameplay on high settings)" where'd you get that from?
Project Scorpio will not output games at high quality in 4k, that would require the price of it going way up. Unless you plan on paying 1k for a console. It would also require developers to make 2 different games for each console (so even if Microsoft decided to make it play 4k games at High/Ultra, developers wouldn't bother).

        • @Blancos4Lyf: We are getting way off track here but in the interest of informing others to make a choice on what console to by it is mentioned in this article

The takeaway seems to be that achieving good 4K performance will need developers to be clever about the balance they strike between native rendering resolution and upscaling technologies used.

The PS4 Pro is not powerful enough to run a game at 4K with all the graphical bells and whistles turned on, but with some compromises the results are reportedly impressive.

Also you yourself don't think something coming out in over 12 months will output 4K games on high settings and be worth around $1K if it come close, so I'm unsure why you would question my source on the fact the PS4 Pro can't either.

My point was more that tech will be worth less in 12 months (so they could offset that with a cheaper console or same price point but better performance) and Microsoft will probably include a UHD Disk Player so if you're in the market for a 4K console and there's no rush to get one (lack of content) then I would wait for the Scorpio otherwise just get this deal on the PS4 slim because you probably don't need a 4K console.

Also my understanding from the Microsoft E3 conference was essentially that; the games will have 2 display settings much like a computer game (with less customisability). If installed/run on a regular console it will play at 1 setting i.e. 1080p if played on a 4K console it will run at different settings i.e. 3840 × 2160. I would imagine that Sony would have their games run similarly (no source).

        • I was just requesting your source, I had no doubt it was true.
I'm sure both consoles will be upscaling 1080p, which will make it a little easier to play it at 4k on high settings.
I doubt native 4k will be achieved by this gen of consoles unless they sacrifice 60fps for 30fps.

  • Sorry, newbie, but what's the TRS 10% thing?
