    Too spooky 4me

Also this reads as spam, list some prices and link directly to the deal.

    • Thai people believe in ghosts and spirits, but you don't have to if you dont want to

Its a strange spam if that's what you think it is.

I don't understand why you say to link directly to the deal. If you click on 'Go to deal' it takes you directly to it. The prices are not simple to express as there are alternatives, but I don't think you would be interested in any case

      • If you click on 'Go to deal' it takes you directly to it.

It does now that mods have changed it. You initially put it as an image

but I don't think you would be interested in any case

Why post the deal if you don't think we're your target audience?

        • +2

I meant YOU would not be interested not everybody who views the deal, but you are probably right that this is not a suitable place to promote our business. We get visitors from all over the world and usually some from Australia but this year so far nobody from Australia. There aren't many people who are interested in international painting holidays, but we are one of the best.

This is the first time I have used this site and I thought that a photo might be more useful than the link to the price page, apparently I was wrong and I apologise if I have been ignorant.

  • What's the town? You might want to put the rough $aud price too.

  • +1

The town is on our website. Its Phon Phisai but that wouldn't mean anything unless you already knew Thailand well. Full details are on the website including maps etc.

This is not a simple deal to buy an item, its a painting holiday. We charge $900 USD per week which includes all food, materials, tuition, first class accommodation, trips, airport (1.5 hours away) pickup and drop off. At current exchange rates that is $1,200 AUD for the first week and $800 AUD for the second week

    • So, what do you get for:

      (from $US 378 for 2 Weeks)

      • +1

$1,400 USD per week ($4,480 per month) for two people in a double room or $900 USD ($2,880 per month) for a single person in a double room.

        This includes

        All tuition
        Accommodation
        All meals
Drinking water and coffee or tea always available
        Most art materials
Transport for travel between painting/photography/Thai experience locations
Tours to villages, markets, landmarks, temples etc. Many places only accessible to local Thai people as there are no tourist facilities in this part of NE Thailand where hardly any English is spoken
Pick-up and drop-off at Udon Thani International Airport or Nong Khai railway station.

Alternatively you can book with us on a pay as you go basis using these rates (for most people this will work out more expensive than the Full Board rate): The 50% discount for the second week is not available for this option

        Double room bed and breakfast

per week per room for two people $347USD or for one person $252 USD

per month per room $1,247 USD or for one person $907 USD

children can be accommodated in the room for a small additional cost depending on the age of the child

Airport pickup or drop off for two people $100 (the airport is 60 minutes drive away in Udon Thani)

Upgrade to full board including lunch and dinner $35 per person per night

Full day trip per person $100

Half day trip per person $50

Art tuition per hour per person $30 (this includes most standard art materials provided free)

  • Its not something for me but seems a decent style of holiday for people into the artist side of things.

Thank you, I appreciate some positive comments:)

I was hoping they would teach me how to paint my house - eg. interior and exterior.

    • Sorry not good at that

  • If I were into art, I'd love this but I have no talent. Jeremy, do you know anyone in that part of the world that dies a similar thing with cooking. It sounds like you are on the banks of the Mekong. Are you North or south of Chiang khong?

Do you mind if I mention this deal in rough terms in a webpage (not mine) dedicated to women who travel solo or with other women? How many could you accomodate in your best standard at one time? Am I correct in assuming it's the Chiang rai airport?

  • +2

Everybody has an artist in them and I often find that beginners adapt more rapidly than experienced painters who are set in their ways. It's not that difficult to produce good work if you let yourself go. Of course, you have to want to do it as well:)

We don't teach cooking but my wife, Waree, is a very good cook and many of our guests learn to cook with her visiting the markets and preparing food in our kitchen. As we can only accommodate four people at one time it's easy for us to adapt our schedule to meet our guest's needs.

We are in NE Thailand (Isaan) where there is little tourist industry and I don't know of any cooking classes in our area but we are not far from Nong Khai, the bridge over the Mekong to Laos and the capital Vientiane where there is a good cooking school http://thailand-painting-holidays.com/tamarind

Of course, we would like you to mention the deal anywhere. Many of our guests (most) are single women travelling alone (often travelling abroad for the first time). Several have given us five-star reviews in Trip Advisor http://thailand-painting-holidays.com/all-reviews/ It's very safe where we are and we look after our guests 100%

We only have two large first-class rooms each taking two people. We have another small room we use sometimes. Our guests usually fly to Udon Thani Airport which is over 90 minutes drive away, so we meet their plane and drop them off at the end of their stay. It is possible to come by train to Nong Khai instead.

Nothing personal, but your 'standard' prices are absurd for 'outback' Thailand. E.G. USD 100 each way for airport pickup. "You are dreaming". Others may not know, but for comparison, a 'basic wage' in Thailand is about THB300. ~$US8.67 PER DAY !!

    • +1

Yes sure I understand what you are saying and in fact our basic prices are competitive with local guesthouses. We are not in that market. We do not let our rooms to local Thai people at all. We exclusively cater for international visitors who wish to learn to paint and experience Thai lifestyle and culture. This is a totally different market. If you compare our prices with similar international painting holidays you will find we are quite competitive.

The fact is that we have been operating for five years and attracting visitors from all over the world who are happy to pay our rates and five us five star reviews. It is almost impossible for a non-Thai speaking person to experience village life and culture in the remote areas of Thailand where there is no tourist industry as the locals do not speak English

If you are concerned about us making an exorbitant profit I can assure you that we only just break even. We only open for 4 months each year and the rest of the time (when the weather is hot and wet) we have to pay for a caretaker and all services. We provide first class accommodation far better than most Thai guest houses and while local pay rates are low facilities for farangs (westerners) are expensive.
