  • Any Ozbargainers give a review of these? I currently have a FitBit Surge which I find too bulky

    • Wife has a Garmin hr, I have a miband 2, it's quite easy to see where the extra money went… Ie the functionality of the miband 2 greatly reduced… I'm also not sure of the accuracy…
If your looking for something basic, and don't really care about accuracy, then it's decent.

Mine seems to jump in the amount of steps I've done quite rapidly, when I haven't done all that many.

  • don't think OLED will make it any special

I am using it atm and i like it. Its very handy as its not bulky and screen is bright and mifit app is getting better now.

It cost only 40 bucks and i think its good value. Display is handy and configurable so happy with it.

Oh and i take it with me when i go to swimming so no probs there as well

  • the new xiaomi watch is out today at a price of cny 799 or AUD 155. looks good

I'm using one atm paired with my iphone 5s.

Aesthetically, it looks really good. The capacitive button sometimes doesn't work, around 5% of the time, even with dry hands. Mild annoyance.

Step counter is okay. It will bump up your counter by a few hundred+ when you're sitting at your desk typing.

The heart-rate sensor is rubbish. Sometimes it will refuse to work and I can't figure out why. Sometimes it will start working again and I can't figure out why. For highest success rate (I'd say 50/50) you have to hold your arm in front of you as if you're checking the time until it gets a measurement. It will not be accurate when you're moving around. Some will say you get what you paid for, from my testing I will say that this is more of an algorithm issue that xiaomi needs to fix (although I wouldn't get my hopes up). It doesn't randomly check and record your HR (I wish a firmware update would fix this).

Sleep sensor or whatever is mostly guesswork IMO. Raise to view time takes ~1.5 seconds. New update today/yesterday added date to the display time!

Battery life is great (though I have nothing else to compare it to). With vibrating alarms, vibrating alerts (I get a bit of spam a day on messages) it'll last a solid 10 days before it requires a charge.

Usage wise, purely for notifications it is pretty good, it will display the icon and then disappear after a few seconds, no way to bring it back. I like it this way because if I wanted more info, I'd just check my phone. Getting vibration alerts allows me to leave my phone on silent all the time without fear of missing a call. It doesn't support some apps like gmail and telegram.

I heard there's much better support on Android than there is with iOS. Syncing can take 1-2 minutes on iOS where it might take seconds on Android.

For a bit over 40 (and nothing else to compare it with), I think it's good value for money just for the notifications. The HR sensor is the biggest disappointment, so if you're hoping for a good one to use, don't get this.

    • I found the heart rate sensor pretty accurate. To get a good reading, the sensor has to completely touch your arm with the arm steady for about 10-15 seconds. I also own Band 1 which still works for all other functions. The Band 2 is worth it just for the heart rate sensor I reckon.

I recently just got mine from AliExpress. I believe the best thing to do is after setting up Mi Fit and updating the firmware is to get the Tools & Mi Band app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak…)

Heaps of extra functionality for the band. Will be interesting to see how useful it really is, but so far in terms of notifications it's pretty awesome getting buzzed when I get messages.

    • Hey Ozbuddy,
Quick question - can you see the pedometer on the actual device without needing the sync with a phone?
Also with the HR, does it only record during manual activity session?
      Thanks.

      • yes and no

  • You can get one from Aliexpress for $45.58 with an extra band in a colour of your choice and a screen protector.
