  • EDIT: Not the cheapest price ever. It was $429.99 USD not long ago.

and this is $422.04 the rest is shipping and handling.
The price i listed is how much you pay delivered.

      • +1

        Thanks for the correction.

  • +3

I bought this when it was $602, worth it

  • +1

I have this, the fans on it are rarely on. Maybe after 30 mins of playing a very GPU intensive game (GTA, witcher, arma 3 etc) theyll come on.

    • They don't turn on under 60 degrees

I bought a EVGA GTX 1070 SC off Newegg for about $600AUD and it had horrible coil whine and I had to RMA it through EVGA instead of Newegg as by the time the card arrived it had became ineligible for return. RMA claim was approved within a few hours but I was forced to pay for the return shipping to Taiwan, which was about $60 for express through auspost. The lesson learned was to buy video cards from a local reseller so atleast if the card had a problem I could just return it in person.

    • -1

Agreed. For $100 more it's definitely worth the local warranty and convenience.

      • +6

        worth

I have no idea what you're evaluating but if you spend $100 more you are worse off.

The comment you replied to said they spend $60, still better off than spending $100. That person was unlucky, most people receive functioning video cards. If you spent $100 extra every time you buy a video card you are worse off.

The worst case scenario for the person not spending $100 more for local stock is complete loss - now do you think that every 7th video card you recieve is going to fail making that loss likely?

        • -1

This. This is something 80% of people can't seem to understand when they continuously vote for local store deals that are still $150 at times more than importing from overseas

      • I thought evga provides international warranty?

        • Yeah, they do, but its going to cost ya to get it there, as it did axoth a few posts up.

    • +1

Curious, did you test it with a different power supply? I returned a card recently due to coil whine. Replacement was just as bad. Tested it on a friends Corsair PSU and was shocked to find coil whine was gone. Just a thought.

      • +1

Tested with 2 different PSU same problem, people have also indicated that they have heard a difference in the pitch of the whine or it completely disappeared after burning in their card by running a benchmark like valley or heaven overnight. Tried that, no difference. Quite a gamble to RMA and get a similarly whiny card

        • Also had a while on mine.however after playing a few games for a couple hours. The sound is long gone…

    • Coil whine seems like a relatively common issue unfortunately >.>. I've just received my 1070 ftw yesterday from amazon, i havent had a chance to fully test it out but i did get some pretty insane coil whine during a menu screen in one of the games i tested it with (so bad that initially i mistook it for a rattling pump)

      • +1

:( waiting for a ftw 1070 right now from amazon i hope it does have that problem.

        • +4

my ftw 1070 on my way..I hope it does NOT have that problem.

        • +2

          @kenmizuki: I ment to type doesn't lol

        • @kenmizuki: Likewise, I also have a 1070 FTW coming. Fingers crossed. Can you guys report back when it does arrive and has coil whine, and what PSU you have?

        • I brought the EVGA 1070 SC from Amazon soon after they first came out. As silent as a lamb (eg no coil whine but make sure you put the lotion in the basket).

        • @sasquire:https://youtu.be/Nk899bu-0kE

          Hear mine out. Coil whine

        • @obla:
I placed an order on 24/8/2016(Cheapest shipping), received it today.. lol so quick

          can't notice any Coil whine

        • @kenmizuki: Did tracking update for you accordingly?

        • @kenmizuki: WOW!
my order is getting completely screwed up.

I ordered a gtx 1070 FTW on the 21st of august and right now it's still not here.

      • +1

isn't coil whine common throughout the entire Pascal range and not just limited to EVGA alone?

        • Seems like it. Most of the time it's only bad in specific circumstances and hardly audible most of the time, so don't let it deter you from purchasing one.

    • I currently have a 1070 FTW and I am trying to replace it due to its coil whine. Although I am scared of the shipping costs and time and was wondering whether to replace it through Amazon or EVGA?

      • On the packaging of the card, it says to go straight to the manufacturer. Doing that, you'd have to pay for the return shipping to Taiwan. If Amazon offers a free return shipping policy then I'd do that. I didn't have the last option as Neweggs international return policy is a joke

      • I feel ya https://youtu.be/Nk899bu-0kE hear mine coil whine =(

  • Dropped a few dollars more to $418.77 + shipping.

    • +1

Just updated and as soon as i did the price went back to the price it was when i listed this deal so just reverted back lol.

      • +1

Currently it shows $422.04 but if you add it to cart it changes to $418.77. YMMV.

It's getting harder and harder to hold out :)

        • Yep it's been changeing back and forth.

Buy it dude it's very cheap and worth it.
          Buy at 418.

          @Axelstrife:

Arguably still above MSRP though. Since the SC is just a reference card with their own cooler.

I'm hoping when AMD releases their enthusiast cards 1080 prices might fall within reach.

        • @bobjane: can you play with your current gpu fine? or is it more of a need to upgrade rather then a want?

to me it's worth it which is why i paid $631 for the FTW version a week ago i didn't have a 28 degree card though so amazons conversion rate.

        • +1

          @Axelstrife:
Current 7970 still does ok. Runs most games at 1440p just not maxed on the latest AAA and NVidia biased titles.

I totally agree though that for those needing a GPU right now this is probably the cheapest 1070 available to us atm.

Speaking of conversion free cards I actually opened a Citibank account just for this purchase!

        • @bobjane: is citibank just the standard everyday account?

if so i may have to open one up
I don't want or need a credit card.

        • +1

          @Axelstrife:
Yes standard everyday account with no account fees. Visa debit card with no international transaction fees. More info:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/cards_with_no_overseas_tra…

Their signup process is a bit lacking.
          - Regardless of the online check you will need to do the in person ID verification at a Citibank branch or post office. They don't tell you this and expect you to be psychic.
          - The card and your account number are mailed to you separately. They also don't tell you this and you're just left wondering after receiving one or the other first.

Also transferring money into the Citibank account takes 2-3 business days compared to 1 with just about every other bank.

        • @bobjane: sounds good lol it would only be so i can get in on these good amazon deals at the better prices i'll still remains with NAB for my main account.
          Thanks.
