LOL can someone please tell me if this is a bargin?

    • -1

Maybe not for you, but yeah :)

I supposed i can post up an item with $100 price beat :)
      Cheers

    • +2

      Sorry, I LOLed too :)

    • I dont feel the joke anyway.

Maybe you don't spend $970 on a usb stick.
Is the reason you neg it? (:

I dont think you can find any of this new model at this price in the market currently.
      I almost beat $100 SI price :D

      Cheers

  • +46

Lucky that includes postage, otherwise it might look expensive.

  • +3

2.5" harddrives might be 4x as big but who gives a toss at the price difference

    • +12

Exactly. I recently got a 500gb 2.5" WD hard drive for $79. No external power supply. And at 81% less cost and twice the capacity than this drive. I wonder why anybody wouldn't buy this one as opposed to a 2.5" external hdd. For $970 i'd rather buy a brand new computer than spend my money on this.

      • +3

Its also faster, running around the limits of USB2.0 at about read:write 30:30 MB/s.

      • Where did you get yours from!?
I got a 750gb 2.5" WD hard drive for $128 from officeworks, it's slightly thicker than the 500gb and below.

You could get a laptop with a 1TB HDD in it with this money..

      • Compared with the USB, the 2.5" portable HDD is

        12x cheaper
        2x the storage space
        2x the transfer speed
        4x the physical size

But due to it's size, it's really only twice as big. Therefore logic dictates that he who buys this USB will be laughed at, mugged or both.

  • +4

You have a strange sense of humour, Mr Goodbargain.

  • +17

Cheap! But it wouldnt let me order 20 :(

    • Don't think GB can afford to stock 20 of these units :)
If they do….then will go bankrupt soon :P

  • +3

    LOL… What a bargain!?!?!?

  • Wow I have never seen one before LOL that is interesting..

    • +1

      This is so… stupid.
      256GB flash drive..
      What for?

With this money, you could get yourself a mid-range laptop with a 500GB harddrive.. LMAO.

      • Why do you care so much? Over the next 2 pages of comments you have just repeated yourself again and again!

        • +1

To stress the fact that if you buy this, either you're loaded, or you're a complete idiot.

          • @cwongtech: That's an opinion, not a fact. And you only need to say it once else you're the idiot…

            • @zhenjie: EVERYTHING is subjective, get used to it.

  • +2

    Speed: 25mb/12mb

Dear god that is slow, you know, for the money.

    • +1

At 12MB/s it will take just under 6hours to fill. :-)

  • +8

    :)
    Thanks for all the comments

But we actually got a price offer from our supplier with ready stock :D

Well, i know people wont pay so much for a USB stick but wait,
Isn't this a bargain in the market so far?
    Staticice is over $1.05k
    eBay's selling it for $994

    Cheers

    • I suppose.. but how many people would even buy it at this price? That is the question.

    • +5

      This is OzBARGAIN. Not OzSlightlyCheaperThanOtherAvailableItems.

      • +5

        Ah, you got a point.

        $100 cheaper?
        You called that "slightly"?

That's 10% difference for a USB Flash that cost >$1k
        my god,
        but hey

        Good point tho

        Cheers

        • LOL you've got it written right there: "eBay's selling it for $994"

That's a price difference of only $24 and on an item this expensive it's not very big.

          l2math

      • +7

Actually, the mods have let it deteriorate into that sort of site, because you're not allowed to use common sense when voting on a bargain because one persons definition of a bargain is different to anothers.

        • -1

          :)
          alright, i got your point

          Thanks

    • +4

For that price I would preferred a SSD
      http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1233/1/

      • -1

        Agreed.

but different people may have different thoughts.

        teehee

      • +1

Same for me… but I think it is the choice between R/W speed (SSD) and portable (USB).

        • +1

but just shove a 1.8" SSD in a small external enclosure (USB+eSATA) and you have the best of both.

You can even get expressCard SSDs that also have an additional USB port.

      • +3

My tired eyes saw "For that price I preferred a STD" ROFLOL

    • +1

"we"? Why does everybody with a website and a paypal account have to use the royal we?

Your name is Victor, not Queen Victoria.

      your loyal subjec^Wcustomer, freddy.

    • lol, i like how you put the price as $1.05k instead of $105x, saving a lot of typing there!

  • Can any of you find this product cheaper elsewhere?

    • -1

As i research through the net, nope

cheapest on eBay is around $994
Retail has it for $1k +

      Cheers

  • +4

wow, nice, just about to order 1000 for almost every employer in our company!!!
only down side is: Speed 25mb/12mb
how long does it takes to write full 256GB? or read?

EDIT: hang on, this site does not have 1000 in stock!!! NEG!!!!!!!!

    • -1

It's actually a back to back order.

We've talked with our supplier, once we have orders. They will ship it

      Cheers

      • +4

I think this post needs highlighting.

They don't have stock. They're waiting for the orders, then they'll get their supplier to drop ship it to you.

Considering the price of these, you might want to spend a little bit more and get it straight away from a walk in place for your investment.

        • Agreed

  • +1

Yesssssss! Just what ive been waiting for!! Bargain!!
    ;)

  • +3

gotta get me some bragging rights around office, check out the size of my….usb….stick.

    • +2

and then get the laughs when they asked you how much you paid , doh

      • +2

Ironically, getting a penis enlargement costs less than this usb stick in today's global economy.

But for those of us lucky enough to be pre-emptively large, perhaps a giant F-off usb stick will make a wonderful accompaniment.

  • interesting offer

  • At that kind of price you'd better have some disguise for it, or sand off the printing showing the capacity, or you'd get robbed for it. Then again you wouldn't get bragging rights. lol!

  • +1

Was looking for one and didn't want to pay more than $1k for one.

    Thanks.

    +1 Positive

    • -4

      Dude, seriously..
Just save yourself some money and sacrifice $100 + 3 times the storage of this thing.
      I wouldn't trust it either..
      256GB flash drive?
      Made in China?
From past experiences, I've had fake USBs that let you transfer 64GB worth of stuff..
Thing is, after 128mb of real files they only copy the file icon and file size numbers..
You couldn't open anything after 128mb of files being shoved in.

      Beware dude!

      • Don't take his buy seriously :)

      • +3

Supplier got them from Kingston distributor :)
        guaranteed genuine ones.

We wouldn't want to spoil our company's reputation for a $100 cheaper FAKE 256GB USB Flash!
        not worth it! =P
        Trust me, it's real :P

        Cheers

      • +3

The $100 256Gb sticks on eBay are all fakes. I very much doubt this one is.

        • -4

Sorry, I meant get a pocket HDD.
          So much Cheaper
          So much faster.
You could also get a decent netbook with it too, and have more storage as well.
AND STILL HAVE 300 BUCKS LEFT!

  • +3

i can remember when you had bragging rights for a 256mb one. hehe

  • Nice price. I was looking at getting it from gizmomart last week. Glad I held off :)

    • -1

Why wouldn't you get a pocket HDD?
You guys have wayyy too much cash to blow, shouldn't be on OzBargain you loaded rollers in rolls royces!
You guys can spend 1k+ on a flash drive, and yet still look to save a few bucks on other items!

      Interesting people!

  • +7

do you guys have it in blue? I'm willing to pay up to $990 for blue. do you accept credit card? should i just post card details and shipping address here? sorry i'm a noob with these sorts of things, please be kind first post!!

    • -2

      Hi ranma

I think our supplier only stock-in the normal color.
Should be exactly the same on the image on our site :)

FYI, if you have a credit card.
You could logon to Paypal —> Individuals —> Send Money
you should be able to process with credit card there

      Our paypal account email address:
      [email protected]

      Cheers

      • hey Goodbargain,

do you think you guys will stock some branded stuff? Like Logitech peripherals, external hard drives etc?

Some computer parts will be good to see as well.

        • hi scrimshaw

Yes, we will stock some branded stuff :)
In the process of gathering source and uploading webpages :)

          Cheers

EDIT: Thanks for your suggestion anyway, but just to make it short.

We will be having 1 bargain every 24hour, just like most of the one sale a day site.
And we will have many categories like Computer & IT, Family, Homeware, etc
We will be charging one fixed postage charges for all items in one order :)
maybe slightly higher for cases and furniture, etc

          Cheers

    • +1

      lol…

  • +3

pah! I got one of these for 1/3 of the price on ebay. See..!! …. Hey why is Orlando Blooms head on Hugh Jackman's body????!!

  • -2

    256gb usb WOW

  • -3

    256gb usb WOW

  • Not a bargain..!!

    • +2

      agreed … this isn't a marketing channel for non-bargains

    • -2

      I reckon!
Not an extreme bargain like the other stuff they sell..

  • +5

Wow now imagine if you misplaced or lost that thing…

  • +3

$970???? Oh oh oh but there's free shipping…two please.

  • +1

didn't know they made it that big

    • +2

      That's what she said!

  • +1

everytime I see this I say WOW (World Of Warcraft? Woolworths? Who Cares!!)

WOW to those who think this is bargain!! WOW!! WOW!! WOW!!

I starting wonder how many goodbargain have Sold!! WOW!!

  • Tell you what goodbargain. I'll give you tree fitty for it.

  • +1

i think the question here should be why did Kingston make a 256gb usb stick at this price in the first place, is there really a market for these things with all the more attractive alternatives around?

  • +1

So, this item is not in stock in Australia but somewhere overseas right?

  • -1

Sweet, just picked up one. You might not need it, but others do.

    • -3

      Dude, you're loaded..
Why wouldn't you just get a Hard drive with an enclosure?
WD 2.5" 500gb with enclosure is around 100 bucks..
      HOW RICH ARE YOU GUYS!

      • +7

Umm? How would one fit a 2.5" harddrive into a pair of slim Nudie jeans?

You need to pay for convenience sometimes.

        • +1

          True!
          101% agreed

        • -4

Yeah… 800 bucks for convenience and half the capacity.. RIGHT…

        • Umm the question you should be asking is how do you get your balls to fit in a pair of Nudie jeans without wanting children?

          • @kumquat: The question is, why the hell would you carry around a harddrive for no reason anyway?
Why the hell would you carry around 256GB worth of data with you everyday anyway?

The question you should be asking, why would one be carrying a USB stick or a hard drive at a given time.
BECAUSE THEY NEED TO USE IT. I mean, you don't usually carry around a 256GB usb stick when you go shopping.. do you? Same deal with a hard drive.

      • Everyone has different needs.

        Maybe a pilot needs a 256GB USB Flash? :P
or anyone that downloads torrents 24/7 but hates to carry a HDD around?
        =)

        • Yeah.. a pilot would definately use a USB flash drive while flying..
Adds a whole new meaning to "Dar fei gey" in cantonese, which means hit the plane.. i.e. wanking..

What does someone downloading torrents 24/7 and carrying a HDD around have anything to do with carrying a USB?
Also, if I were to download a torrent and then put it on a HDD, I'd want it to be faster..
The item you are trying to sell to Ozbargainers is bloody slow compared to a cheaper, slightly larger, more reliable Hard Drive.

You're really bad at selling your product buddy..

      • +1

Its a cover-up he puts the usb in his 'slim nudie jeans' as a sausage extention.

  • awesome! cheap

  • ordered! what a bargain. cheers mate

  • +1

    Wow wow guys..
    Take this easy.

I'm offering this monster baby here because i tot maybe some people would want high-end products with $100 off?
Who knows maybe someone might need one as HDD is bulky to carry around (even the 2.5" too, and it's dangerous)
I think that this big capacity USB FLASH is a good thing to have for my personal use as what zhenjie said
sometime you need to pay more for convenience
I know different people may have different definition of "Bargains", but well :)
I ll try sneak more suitable bargains for "OzBargainers"

    Cheers

    • "Who knows maybe someone might need one as HDD is bulky to carry around (even the 2.5” too, and it’s dangerous)"
      How is it dangerous?
Also, if you can carry a wallet.. I don't see why you can't carry a portable HDD.
I think that this big capacity USB FLASH is a good thing to have for my personal use - Have you got one yourself? or are you just selling it?

The price tag for something so small, so fragile, is unjustifiable.
It's a USB stick, it's got slow write and read speeds.
      What is this for?
Carrying around your own stash of anime or something more adult-orientated or something?
I'll stick to my WD 750GB for $128 from OW, with warranty and a shop I can physically walk to, thanks.

      • But in most cases you have your wallet in your back pocket and SIT on it…. I would hazard a guess that you would not want to sit on your HDD?

        Cheers

        • I wouldn't want to sit on my $970 usb stick either.
          I wouldn't even have a hard-drive in my pocket.

  • wow so many comments….LOL…

a friend once said to me,
"coolness is measured by the size of your usb"

but still….LOL…might hold out for 512gb or something….

  • +1

pay ~$1000 for a drive? Not me, thanks.

  • +4

I've lost so many USBs over years, I think I'd cry myself to sleep for a month if I lost this one

  • +6

Just because it's "expensive" doesn't mean it isn't a bargain comparatively speaking………. Sheesh, Ozb needs to loosen up lol. Too many cheapskates around…
