  • Is the OC Edition worth the price premium?

    • +1

It's the exact same card, you can theoretically reach the same overclocks manually, the OC just ships at a higher clock out the box. So, not really worth it. Depends if you think the OC would have better QC than it's little brother.

      • +3

The OC version is most likely binned - the crapper chips get non-OC and the better chips get the OC.

Headline needs to say price is $909.73

    • +1

I have already written that in the description:

With Amazon's currency conversion you get AUD$909.73, but with 28degrees Mastercard you should get close to ~$878 delivered.

Use MasterCard Currency Conversion to get the rate.

Thanks OP. I ordered one to replace my Asus GTX 680 DirectCU II. I'm worried if a Ti version releases. I'm sure this 1080 will fit inside my Bitfenix mATX case because my 680 does.

    • +1

Just a FYI that this card is massive. It made my 680 look like a baby.

Could you tell me if this card brand would be covered under international warranty, please?

    • +4

      EVGA only

      • +2

So you are saying that this $878 graphic card would not be covered by warrenty after 31 days, are you?

        • +3

You would have to send it back directly to Amazon. With EVGA you can deal with them directly if there is any problems.

        • -1

@Saiya: There is any document, pdf or sort of contract agreement where i can have a look, because i would buy it if you are 100% right. Thanks

@edfoo: I have got here some information about Amazon international warrenty but when i ask for more information or confirmation no one answer back.I understand that here no one work for Amazon but it would be more honest said 'i don t know' rather to give misinformation. Not addressed directly to you just 'using'you to reply in some way :)

I looked online and found this.

So I believe if your GPU is dead on arrival you just RMA it / Return it back to Amazon. What I quoted earlier says 36 months (3 years) warranty and this part I don't understand. Anyone know and can answer how 3 years warranty works? So this means we have to send it to USA if under warranty?

That's the issue IMO. International warranty.

Don't forget you are paying nearly $900 for a card that might not have warranty…. and I hear that Asus customer support is very poor.
And also this card it huge, has a high power draw and may run hot if you OC which shortens life span.

The worse thing you want is the buy this card, it dies after 2 years and you be left with a fried card and no support.
The extra cash to buy local is worth it IMO. I know its $300 more, but then it's like purchasing extended warranty for an electrical item locally.
That's the way I look at it. It could be wrong, but then its short of a grand which is bit of cash just for a Video Card.

      Cheers

      • Thank s mate you made a point here!I think i will buy someone locally with better quality/price ratio like a gtx 1060 or rx 480.Cheers

        • +1

          Pleasure!.

I end of buying one @ Centrecom last week and spent a lot of money!
It is an animal of a card!!!
I run 1440p full everything with Just Cause 3 and it still yawns (no OC).

In relation to a warranty issue as per this discussion, a perfect example is my PSU died yesterday (XFX850W Black edition) and it's nearly 3.5 years old.
I believe that it has a 5 year warranty so I am taking it back to Centrecom tomorrow for an RMA.
Although it's not comparative of the price spent (~ $180 at the time) but I am still covered as I have purchased it locally.
If i bought this from OS for around 25% less, then now I will spending another $180 for an equivalent replacement.

          Cheers

Just so you are aware EVGA offer international warranty. I am pretty sure they are the only card company that does which is why I got the EVGA 1070 founders edition for my mini itx pc(I wanted a blower to push air to the outside of the small case) over any other brand even though it was harder to find in stock.

  • Good price if you got $900 to burn

  • +1

Regretting my early purchase of the card :(

    • +4

Not buying into the marketing hype. I will wait until next year as the GTX970 is fine for now

Don't get me wrong I "want" this card but I don't "need" it

      • Still sitting on SLI 670 and the voices, oh the voices telling me to upgrade. I feel your pain but yes, common sense must prevail. I keep telling myself I'll wait till the Ti Edition each time and around the corner comes a new series! So I repeat the cycle! :D

        • I upgraded from a GTX580 to a GTX970 - lost a couple of hundred dollars on that upgrade.

If I was playing games on a daily basis then I could justify the GTX1080.

I have so much web development work on I don't have time to play games.

    • -1

Why's that? I purchased an EVGA 1080 SC a few months ago but I don't regret it. The Titan X (Pascal) costs double and doesn't have any aftermarket coolers atm.

      • +1

No issue with the performance. I got the ASUS Strix OC.

It's a great card. Just paid about 25% too much based on recent prices….

        • More than a car depreciation.

        • +1

Fair enough but if you bought it from an Aus retailer (which I assume you did since you paid 25% more) then you have much better warranty especially if it dies past the 30 day mark as others have mentioned.

        • +1

GreatWhiteHunter: Everybody already know you will always pay the higher price to be an early adopter.

  • Thanks Scotty, Awesome price for a top card :) Been holding off since release but this has got me spending that $$$

    Battlefield 1 come at me

That's an amazing deal. I paid $1050 or so for my non-Asus GTX 1080 locally upon release.

  • I am getting the following error on checkout:
"Sorry, this item can't be shipped to your selected address. Learn more. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order. You can also see if this item is available to ship to your address from another seller."

    Anyone been able to purchase?

  • I don't like my chances but I've capped my GPU budget at $700 AND I want the 1080… I suppose I'm a year away from being a year away?
