Is the picture quality any good on a 5.5" 1080p phone? I think you can clearly see the individual pixels. It would be like watching a SD TV from half a meter away.
I purchased one. Will see how it goes! Google cardboard (from the ebay/myer promo) was fun for about 2 minutes but was average.

Looked at the web site and was about to stick all my details in, but it DOES NOT use https. All your details - name, address etc. are sent in plain text. Any site that is that slack with security should be avoided.

I never got a shipping notification, but I just logged in and it says my order shipped 2 days ago, and has a tracking number.
However the tracking number does not exist when I do a tracking search - and it says its a Netherlands tracking number. Dodgy. Will wait a month and then claim PayPal dispute if it never turns up.

I checked with DD4 in live chat to find the shipping company and managed to track it - it shows In Transit
For me, the shipping company is Post NL , could be same for everyone but not very sure, Live chat and try to find out if you keen like me :)One step closer to VR good times:

I received that shipment email people are referring to, but when I click on it, in the next window that comes up FireFox warns me about a certificate issue and that I should close it. Anyone else saw that? I tried it couple of times and I always get the same warning, like the link I follow is dodgy or something.

lenses are way better than the ones in any of the google cardboard versions i've bought before.
it's great that you can adjust the PD and focus of the lenses, but does anyone know the best way to get it 'in focus'?
i dont feel anywhere near as dizzy using this compared to the cardboard ones, but i think the focus is still a bit off.Can anyone comment on the viewing angle?
A 90 degree wide FoV is like a screen twice as wide as your viewing distance. So like sitting up close in a cinema.
e.g. 1m away from a 55" TV. Cheap VR headsets are narrower.You can test it by noting where the image corresponds to a wall behind it, then measure distance to wall, and width.
FoV = Arctan ( width/2/distance) x 2.A 120 degree field, which some VR headsets claim, is a fish-eye view like a dashcam. Requires more complex optics, not just one lens.

arrived this morning. no time to test. quality feels reasonable. Bluetooth control turns on.
Testing the remote controller. The mouse function doesn't seem to work. Probably I get a faulty one :(
In key mode, hold start+X at same time for mouse mode in android. The LED went blue for a moment.
It took me a few tries to get it to work.
It makes a decent music controller, except the most important key, play/pause, is the tiny little one.Works as d-pad arrows for me in game mode. That's good for finding and launching android apps. Use 'X' to select and '@' to go back/escape.
Unfortunately it does not work in the Cardboard app.
I can't even get it to work as the select button to replace the magnetic one. So why is this bundled with the headset??

Was thinking the bluetooth would be good for a movie player, but have gone off the idea of movies in a VR headset.
Is there another app apart from the default app given? It's in Chinese and I can't understand it unless there's a way to change to English.
