[expired]Monitor arm - height, swivel, rotate, Kensington SmartFit, $30 del.

30

This looks like a real bargain hidden amongst all the junk of the "catchathon".
Looks like model 60091.

"The Kensington 4-Position Monitor Arm with SmartFit™ System features independent height and tilt adjustments, It saves desk space by mounting onto your desk, and swivels the screen away when it’s not in use. With the Smart-Fit system, … The arm can support the weight and size of 15” to 17”, up to 10kgs [actually 20lb]."

This must be an old model from the "15-17inch 20 lb" description. Modern 22" wide displays are the same height as the old 17" ones, and only weigh around 4-5kg, so it should fit well. Please comment if I am wrong there. Portrait mode could be a problem.

Same VESA mount of course. It clamps to the back edge of your desk.

$19.95 + $9.95 post, discount for multiples. These usually cost more like $100.

from memory they all have the same standard screws, but dont quote me on this. The main issue is weight, the arm will just flop down.

Compare the specs for the one above: http://us.kensington.com/html/6545.html
      with this: http://us.kensington.com/html/13269.html

Interesting that the second one says it "Fits VESA flat panel monitors from 19" to 21" " so I wonder if there is a difference or a movement limitation as they both support up to 20lbs.

(Edit) This may be of use even if it doesn't quite cover the mount in question:
Flat Panel Monitor Arm Compatibility http://us.kensington.com/html/1494.html

  • We have arms for our monitors here @ work and there are 2 types of brackets, both square one is bigger than the other, it seems to depend on the brand of monitor.

  • Too late :(

    • It expired less than 30 mins after this was posted.

Not a lot of time to do any research into compatibility….

      • Sorry. I thought it was one of those small fish offers that stayed until sold out.
        Maybe it will come back?

  • is that easy broken or loose?

Took a punt (given the dimensions) that it would accommodate my 8kg 27" Dell monitor… I'm glad I did, as I received mine today and it is easily tall enough in the highest position to take the 27" in portrait mode with plenty of clearance to rotate back to landscape.

    Awesome buy for the price!

      For anyone googling this:
The second highest of the 4 height positions works well for a 22" in portrait. Still 10cm clear from the desk.

Anyone can safely ignore the '15-17 inch' description. And these things are solid and heavy.
Swivel, rotate and tilt are friction, and quite tight. Adjustable, but you want it tight so its not easily knocked.
Not suitable if you need to frequently switch between portrait and landscape.

And the bracket is drilled for both 75mm and 100mm VESA.

      • Thanks ceejay and freddy for taking the time to come back and post your experiences for the benefit of future readers! Hopefully others will share and care too with other deals/posts.

Anyone have any info/links to photos of the clamps used? I have a table that has a metal frame and wooden table top/overhang so wondering if these would be big enough to fit under and grip the frame for support.

The bottom steel plate of the clamp has 3 positions, and there are two screw-clamps through it.
I think it would take a 9-10cm thick top, but they say 2".
Or you'd need a 6-7cm minimum overhang to clamp to. Or less than 3cm overhang to clamp on the frame.
It will not attach further in from the edge, if that is what you were thinking.
