[PC] Rayman Origins - FREE with Ubi Club (Ubisoft 30th Birthday)

1300

Next free Ubisoft game has been announced as part of their 30th Anniversary. It is currently $14.95 USD on Steam. Starts August 17th. Now live!

We could not celebrate Ubisoft 30th anniversary without talking about Rayman. Created in 1995 by Michel Ancel, Rayman is one of the few platforming character that has been created at the 32 bit era that is still alive today. Rayman 1 was released on Atari Jaguar and is today the Ubisoft game that has traveled across the most different platforms.
Rayman, was created at first without arms and legs for technical reasons: legs and arms was the most difficult parts to animate. To give him more speed and dynamism, designers removed limbs. This enables to invent many specific powers like the throwing fist, the flying hairs and even the car shoe!
As a platformer, Rayman proposes some unique aspects: the management of pace is unique as some intense platforming moments gives a beat of jumping. The graphics are beyond imagination mixing psychedelic worlds, slapstick humor and loveable character. The game we offer you is Rayman Origins, a back to the root 2D platformer released in 2011 where you travel across amazing worlds, meet goofy monsters and goes through the most dynamic platforming moments ever.

It says Rayman Origins is for August, yet Splinter Cell is still showing up, 11 days after July has finished…

well deal doesn't start til the 17th, that's still August :) It's good that they keep it on there until the next one comes up anyway.

    great game, highly recommend it

  • finally - they have a decent game!

  • Someone post this again on the 17th please. So I don't forget!

A must have game. Got this on 360. Always wanted the PC version. Now I can get the PC version for free which is great. Being a platform game it is best played with a game controller on PC.

A refreshing take on the side scrolling platformers largely dominated by a predictable, Italian plumber and his tall, goofy brother and a woman whose propensity to be kidnapped makes her look more like a willing participant suffering Stockholm syndrome than a victim.

It's a slick and pretty platformer, but it's also one of the best 4-player local co-op games to play with small kids available on PC.

The only others in this league are the sequel, Rayman Legends, and Gamecube/Wii games running on Dolphin (like GC Mario Kart Double Dash and New Super Mario Bros Wii).

(PC has other good 2-player games for kids, like the Lego games, and good 4-player games for teens/adults, like Castle Crashers, but not many great 4-player games for young kids).

It's 4-player gameplay mode borrows heavily from New Super Mario Bros Wii (but refines it to remove some problems) so a parent can play along with kids and everyone can have fun.

  • ooohhhhhhhhhhhh so it starts on the 17th august ok

  • This and Red Dead Redemption were my fave last-gen games

  • This is definitely the best of the free games they've done so far. I dare say this is the best Rayman game too. So a good get if just for a cursory glance at the series.

Already own it on Steam :/

EDIT: WHAT??? Looks like the key was removed from my Steam account… I definitely had it before.

How do you claim these? Do you need to be a Ubisoft club member before the day or anything tricky?

    • +3

  • The reminder is here!

But the game is not :(

Must be 17th August in US time zone?

Now working :) And turns out my Ubi account I made like 15 years ago for IL-2 Sturmovik and Silent Hunter 2 is somehow still active.

    I somehow already had this…
Must have been in a humble bundle recently?
