  I borrowed a kindle of someone, and when off, the battery didn't seem to last as long as my iPad. It seemed to lose charge after a week. Does anyone have any experience with that?

    You can switch WIFI off. This greatly preserves the battery.
    My old first gen Kindle gets a month of battery when WIFI is off, around 5-6 days when switched on.

    I have a Paperwhite and my battery lasts weeks before needing to be charged, leaving wifi on and reading a fair bit…

  Is this a 2016 generation or something? I bought a black one from DSE in May last year for $109 (after 15% discount) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/195211. If it isn't a recent generation then $156.60 is too expensive, I think.

    Seems to be the 2015 version as the listing says it's a third generation kindle, which I'm assuming they meant as a 3rd generation Kindle Paperwhite.

    Edit: I'm still unsure which version this is. Someone confirm it from Wikipedia, please:

  Target in Caroline Springs has the ordinary kindle….the version just before the paper white for half price at the moment. If I am not mistaken $49. They have about 4 there. I stopped by today to check out the paperwhite. Covers for both kindles are also $10 each.
