  • I have one and use it as a Network Media player that connects to my NAS and bluetooth speakers. I also stream the football on it. Works well for these purposes. I wouldn't use it as a replacement for a computer though as OP is hinting at.

    • Could you run reading eggs on it?

  • Also does a pretty good job of running Foxtel go on spare TV.

I've got both the 2015 (BOXSTCK1A32WFC) and 2016 (BOXSTK1AW32SC) versions of this stick and it's totally worth paying more to get the 2016 version.

      Reason being…?

        Pretty good upgrade;

        Windows 10
        1xUSB3 + 1xUSB2 (vs just 1xUSB2)
802.11ac (vs 802.11n and claimed weak reception)
        Cherry Trail Atom CPU

      • +2
        • Better CPU+GPU
        • Faster WiFi (802.11AC)
        • BlueTooth 4.2
        • Extra USB slot
        • Runs cooler
        • Not first-gen equipment
      • x5-Z8300 vs crappy Z3735F

the rest i treat it is minor

the Z8700 faster than my X200T lenovo business laptop

Beware Windows is not activated. They want an extra US$25 for an activation code.

      • I almost bought the Wintel, but went for this instead http://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-arrival-Beelink-Pocket-Z8…

Virtually the same, although gigabit port over the 100M (probably not necessary though), as well as activated Windows 10. Adding the Windows license to the Wintel pretty much brings them to the same price anyway.

The Beelink I bought ships with ePacket, which took about a week to arrive from China.

  • I see little point in making these devices this small unless you're travelling constantly or are really tight on space at home. It seems everything could be better (and maybe cheaper) if this were bigger. There are so many devices competing for our attention today, from IPS-screened tablets and phones selling for less than $100 to cheaper laptops around the $200 mark.

    • Exactly my thought. There are tablets that have hdmi out and the z8300 chipsets for a little over $100 delivered.

  • I really wish these included a dock like this. Then it'd be perfect.

  • Is this the old version?

    • yes

  • The 2016 variant WS32SC as mentioned is leagues ahead of the 2015 version. 2015 version will struggle to play some 1080p and above resolution media. WIFI as mentioned is nowhere near as good either based on reviews.

I have the 2016 model and it boots up very fast, plays any media thrown at it. The USB3 however has some issues when inserting older USB2 sticks. Sometimes it won't register them properly.

  • I bought this. It arrived yesterday (took about a week to ship). Works out to be about AU$114

This has the newer Z8300 CPU which can decode HEVC (h.265). It also comes with a genuine activated copy of Windows 10 Home (some of these Chinese PC boxes come with Win10 installed, but not activated).

I almost bought the Intel Compete Stick, but ended up going with the one I linked after reading reviews and how the Z8300 CPU stacks up against the Z3735F. I also preferred the small box over the stick, due to USB points and ethernet port.

  • hmmm.. tempted:

    4GB RAM + 64GB Storage = winner..
