Don't get your hopes up if Clicking and Collecting as stock levels lag reality, and you may be disappointed.

  • +1

Beware that low stock probably means no stock at Masters. Went to the Braybrook store for 3 clearance items today and they only had one of them.

  • +7

I have never clicked one of these Masters deals found them in-stock :|

    • +3

About to post the very same thing.
The only thing I'm interested in is the shelf in the thumbnail and there's none in any Masters in or around Perth.

    • +9

One of the features I'm about to start working on in Price Hipster is a way for users to mark products as having a problem. Out of stock will probably be one of those. What do you think?

      • +2

Don't think it's necessary, >80% of the items are showing as in-stock for me. It seems like hard work checking multiple locations to make sure that it's out of stock.

        • +3

But if someone finds a product to be out of stock then at least a thousand other people are saved the hassle.

Don't worry. If one person finds it out of stock at their local store that won't automatically make it disappear. And the majority of stores are online-only so if it's out of stock for one, it'll be out of stock for all.

        • +1

@jazoom: i have found some great deals that were only avalible at my local stores (did a quick post code search across Australia). Would hate for the majority of Australia to remove the item from pricehipster just because it isn't avaliable to them :(

        • +2

@jazoom: If a number of users report an item as "having a problem" and it is marked as such, what is the actual functional use of this feature? Basically the definition of "having a problem" is, as you're describing, it's not available everywhere. This means the user is still going to have to link through and check anyway - to be sure. It sounds like a bunch of work that doesn't have a load of value. Furthermore, what if it's just not available in a major population centre (like a near-CBD location) which might result in lots of reports, even though it's available in most other locations. Given I can't imagine there's any way to check what stores the users are looking at (aside from making some guesses via IP location) I'm not sure how reliable this function would be. Unless you're getting loads of angry FB messages about things being out of stock or something - then this may be a way of reducing that.

Not having a go - I think PH is flipping cool - but I'm just playing Devil's Advocate :) (and trying to save you some effort!)

        • @jazoom: How will it be updated once stock returns?

        • +2

@johnno07: Well, this feature is going to exist regardless of whether it has out of stock as an option. Some products are perpetually shown as the wrong price, and others have links that go to a 404.

I think if enough people find a product as out of stock it shouldn't be in the daily deals email or featured on the front page.

Price Hipster doesn't work well for bargain bin type things that are only available at a few stores. That's what OzBargain is for, right?

        • @sween64: I haven't worked out the specifics of that yet.

        • @jazoom: Fair enough!

    • It can be hit and miss. But I order two lots of the Olsent Extra Heavy Duty 25m Extension Lead 15A from two different stores in Brisbane (Springfield and Parkinson) and have just received the sms' telling me they are ready to be collected.

  • https://m.masters.com.au/product/101728973/triton-xt-18v-ham… is $39

Tonnes of stock for lots of items near me.

    • That drill is not available in-store, or delivered, anywhere I can find in Melbourne. Where are you ?

      • Profile says Brisbane.

    • North Lakes at Brisbane
Triton combi hammer drill & multi tool, at least 20 on the shelf. Marked at $99 but scan at $39.60.
1 X Scorpion digital compressor / inflator / torch. Marked down from $39 to $7.80 still in stock.
If buying the $10 85ltr HD black storage crate check the lids fit, have all 4 latches and is not broken. Not marked at $10 but do scan at $10.
Nill $3 40Ltr or $6 80ltr clear boxes in stock.
Plenty of drill bit & impact bit kits.
      Didn't see any olsent leads.
      Thank you Lyl

  • Awesome find OP
Might nip round to my local store tomorrow in hopes that they have some stuff left.

  • Thanks lyl. Been waiting for the Amazon Geelong 5 Shelf Unit to drop in price. Bought 2. Hope that its nice and sturdy

    • I have two myself, pretty easy to assemble (all you need is a hammer and something to pad the hammer blows as to not dent the metal frame). Quite a sturdy frame with no give when pushed, shelves from memory were 12mm MDF and quite solid as well.

      • +3

Pad the hammer? Ever heard of a Mallet!

        • +1

preferred not to have to pay and drive back to Masters to buy the mallet.

      • +2

I bought a $2 rubber mallet/hammer from my local 'junk' shop. It was perfect. Even with thick cardboard, you have to be careful not to chip the coating.
Whichever way you go, it's still way stronger and easy to assemble than those ones that go for $10-12 from time to time with a gazillion small screws and sharp edges.

  • ._. Bought 5 of the shelving units a couple weeks ago when they were $48…any way to claim back the difference?

    • 28 Degrees Insurance or similar

    • +2

Buy New one at cheaper, and return with old receipt.

    • Yes buy five new ones and return them a few days later using your old receipt (check Masters return policy before doing this)

    • +3

Masters has a price matching policy: https://www.masters.com.au/diy-projects-ideas/support-help/m…

Just email support with your receipt/order number and a screenshot of the lower price and they'll refund you the difference.

      • Thanks, bought 2 last week and just had the difference refunded.

  • Oh darn, drove past masters today, could of popped in at least. Been wanting one of these for kitchen shelving, storage.

  • +5

Add to the list, smaller version on sale too

    • Thanks, got one yesterday! :)

  • Any issues in using these construction site heavy duty at home?

    • I have them they are good quality for the price. Actually a lot more solid then i thought they would be. I use it as a work bench and storage stuff under its holding up well after a few months!

  • those heavy duty storage crates are awesome. thanks for the find, OP!

  • Thanks for the effort, OP.

  • Apparently there will be an even bigger sale around the corner (80-90% off). MOst likely need to run in fast before all stocks are cleared.
Didn't this start out at $40 and now it's $7.8… Scorpion 12V Digital Compressor Tyre Inflator.. I have one of these and they work pretty well. Bought it for $20 when it was $20 off and now it's $7.8.. damn

  • Thanks OP. Great timing, I have been waiting to get some extension lead.

    • Must be hard finding power sockets to charge Eneloops. No wonder you need extension leads.

  • Shelf not in stock anywhere near Melbourne.

Any alternatives for a sturdy heavy duty shelf in a similar size?

    • +2

Bunnings have similar ones for about $40 last I was there (about a week ago)

    • +1

      Supercheap stock similar shelves

  • +3

Some items missing from listing that I found in Cranbourne store were

KOBALT Drill and drive set 246PC - $23.60 (Around 25 in stock in the clearance area as on yesterday). Many other small sets were also on clearance desk from same brand.

First Aid Essentials 106 PC - $6.00 (many in stock)

Bosch ScrewDriver Bit Set 29 PCS - $11.99 (I think its wrong label as these are impact bit set blue casing and black bits)

FELT feet Mega Pack Multi Sizes - 504 pcs - $11.98

Eversure Extension Lead open Reel HD 25M - $22.00 (many in stock and it has place for 4 plugs)

All these items were 30% off in last couple of weeks, now it is marked to 60% off.

    • Hi Mate, if you can would you mind provide me the Masters item code for KOBALT Drill and drive set 246PC? Thanks heaps

      • +1

        101806821

        • Thanks mate appreciated

    • Picked up the 246pc this morning . Looks like great value .

  • +1

I really like Masters and don't want it to leave, but this kind of sale indicates the opposite. Sigh~~

  • Masters Everton Park was uneventful. Plenty of the 85L storage containers although marked at $17.50 (checked stock code was right)

Not much of the Olsent wiring. A few of the 20m office reels. Seems like Olsent has all just been rebranded as Masterplug. Products are identical but different codes and packaging and of course prices. Some of the 15A leads available but at different sizes (note larger earth pin so not useful unless you have a 15A outlet).

Shelving was a mess. Much of it didn't have prices and impossible to find the one on special.

I was underwhelmed. Normally just go to Bunnings and have to drive past one to get to this Masters. Lots of stock in general and more staff than customers - layout was mostly good though so probably better as a store than Bunnings but they just have the hold on the market.

Most of these items are not in stock at Canberra store. Waste of time as always with Masters Canberra

  • +3

lol, gee, no stock anywhere near me.

  • I ordered an extension cord this morning using click and collect. Got the invoice and everything emailed. They called me just now saying out of stock and they will process a refund. Argh!

    • +2

My order was placed on Tuesday afternoon and I got a call today saying that the 5 items on my order were all out of stock
The lady who called me from Masters said that my order was "picked" today and there was no stock of anything. She suggested that if I wanted to I could complain to Masters, and that they at the store see this happening constantly.
So I have wasted my time placing an order that I have paid for and will have to await a refund of my payment. I don't care all that much about Masters having my money for a week and then refunding it, but it must cost them a small fortune in administration of all these transactions which do not result in a sale and therefore cannot generate a profit - if they were going to make any profit on clearance stock??
No wonder they haven't been able to make Masters work. Whatevever you can might about Bunnings they rarely do stuff this stupid.

  • awesome find but yeah, disappointed in the past with the click and collect. Was no different today.

  • has anyone ever walked into a store when it says no stock and found some?

  • +1

5 Shelf Unit $27.6 - bought two yesterday (click and collect) - nice quality shelf , very good price - thanks OP

  • Bought 5 of the units - nice and sturdy. There was still about 40 left at my local Masters (Taree).

  • +1

Placed an order with some of the things listed above as soon as the sale was posted.
4 days later, got told the $2 secateurs were not in stock, fair enough, but I could come and pickup the rest of the order.
15 mins after that got a call back to say that someone forgot to pick my order and that none of the items I wanted were in stock.
The reason provided was that since I ordered clearance items it was "Chaos down there" and that I should only visit the store and not order online for such items.

  • Ordered click and collect for 6 items on Wednesday, finally got the sms on Saturday, lucky only 1 item was unavailable. Basically when you order online the stock isn't allocated until they work through the order list and get to yours. Then they head on around and collect the stuff if there's still any available. So in future for any deals I'll just head down to the store and do the same job myself because it may be a long queue for click and collect if a good sale is on.
