It look like this deal should be available at all Masters and online:

The benefit of the Impact drill with the worlight kit is that it comes with a 2Ah battery as opposed to the multi-tool kit which has a 1.3ah

I bought the multi-tool kit from a previous OZ Bargain deal and its great. The drill and multi-tool are perfect for all the odd jobs around the house. Although the 1.3ah battery dies pretty quickly using the multi-tool.

The 'Tekraft 5 in 1 Plastic Organiser' is here too: https://www.masters.com.au/product/101784975/tekraft-5-in-1-…

What is the difference between a hammer drill and an impact drill?? Thought they were the same thing.

      • +3

It is the same thing. It's likely the same exact drill in both kits.

        JTC:
        impact drill = hammer drill.

impact driver is something else, which is what the below posts are describing.

        • +1

Usually it's called 'Impact driver', which is different from hammer drill.
However in this case both kits come with the same hammer drill. 'Impact' drill is likely a typo.
Triton impact driver looks like this
KentT I'm not sure why you got negged…

        • +4

          @nbn:
          It's not a typo, it's a synonym.

Here's the link to the XT 18V Combi Hammer Drill that's in these kits.

If you click the side-on image you'll see the product label with the words "Impact Drill" on it.

An impact driver is not a hammer drill.
An impact wrench is not a hammer drill.
An impact drill is a hammer drill.

          ETA:

KentT I'm not sure why you got negged…

Herd mentality and stubbornness. It happens every time someone points it out in one of these drill sales.

      • Hammer drill for drilling in concrete/masonry
Impact drill (its really a driver or wrench not a drill) for screwing/unscrewing eg battens screws into timber or for mechanical work

      • +2

Hammer drills are used best for drilling holes. It has a pulsating forward motion that makes drilling easier.
Impact drills has more torque perpendicular to the drill so its better suited to drive bolts and screws.

        • The hammer drill should have an impact mode on it

        • +1

You are thinking impact driver, neither of these are an impact driver.

For some reason they have used different terminology for the same drill across the 2 kits. Both kits are a hammer drill.

        • Just to clarify this would be suites for if I wanted to drill into wood, put shelving together etc?

        • @Power Penguin:

          yep this would be fine

      • +2

Hammer drill the force is along the axis of rotation.

Impact driver the force is around the circle of rotation.

Use hammer drill for masonry. Use impact driver for nuts, bolts, screws.

        • And neither of these kits have an impact driver. They both have the same drill.

    • The benefit of the Impact drill with the worlight kit is that it comes with a 2Ah battery as opposed to the multi-tool kit which has a 1.3ah

However be aware that there seems to be a difference in chargers too…

Multotool kit with 1.3Ah battery includes 1 Hour fast charger.

Worklight kit with 2Ah battery includes a 3.5 Hour SLOW charger.

I haven't seen them in the flesh… anybody know what's the story?

      • I bought the drill and multi-tool kit a while back but ended up exchanging it for the drill and worklight kit. The charger and adapter is identical to the regular Triton chargers. It is not the 60min charger shown here: https://www.masters.com.au/product/101549924/triton-18v-xt-6…

Also, the drill in this kit is different to the one in the worklight kit. The drill in the worklight kit has a delay function for the LED light whereby it stays illuminated for a while after releasing the trigger. The drill in the multi-tool kit does not have a delay.

  • Dammit I don't need more drills lol. This is really tempting however :(

    • +2

Dammit I don't need more drills

Stop that defeatist attitude right now and go and buy one!

    • I already have this drill and 'multi tool' (that I haven't figure out a single use for), but I'm wondering if the work light, 2ah battery, and spare drill are worth if for $40.

    • Don't panic, they wont have stock anyway.

  • -2

How do you titillate an ocelot?

  • Can I use impact drill to drill a hole on a tile?

    • +3

Wouldn't recommend it. Just get yourself something like this: http://www.qep.com/products/diamond-drill-bit-kit/ and use a normal drill.

      • The hammer drill (like most) has three settings, and can be used as a normal drill.

      • This. Never use hammer/masonry/concrete drilling mode on tiles. Unless you are trying to break them:)

        • Had a friendly tradie at my place trying to drill into porcleain tile. He used an impact drill at full RPM. 15 minutes later and only made 4mm hole in the tile. Had to stop because grout was falling out of the wall! I believe you're suppose to go slow with tiles. He was using a diamond tip but went full RPM… Whole diamond tip was gone.

    • No.

For ceramic tiles use a carbide drill bit and a normal drill.

For porcelain tiles use a diamond drill bit and a normal drill.

Read the instructions for the correct speed and lubrication/cooling.

    • It's the drill bit you need to worry about. You'll want some glass & tile bits with a tungsten carbide tip, such as this: https://www.bunnings.com.au/sutton-tools-5-0mm-glass-and-til…

      I wouldn't use hammer/impact mode.

  • All these items were at Rutherford NSW 2 hours ago.

    • How many?

      • A few each of the Triton. Plenty Tekraft.

  • +1

I just bought one but the photo of it looks like a Hammer drill not an impact drill

    • Hammer drill is the same as an impact drill. Impact driver is a different thing.

  • +1

Awesome deal, thanks. Had got a kit earlier this year with an impact driver (the normal kind, not the impact drill that seems to be a hammer drill in this deal) and normal drill with 2x 1.5ah Batts so this will be a great addition. Just need the grinder now… They want $115 just for the grinder with no battery though, hard to justify after getting thisnlot for $39 lol.

    • You sure the impact drill has hammer function? There is a hammer drill kit with a multi tool. I bought both as need the light ans hammer drill. Already have the multi tool.

      • I have a DeWalt 18volt impact driver but I bought this for the caravan. The photo clearly shows impact drill so I presume you can put normal drill bits in it but it works as impact not hammer. I hope so anyway because I sure don't need another hammer drill

        • Zoom in on the model number in the photos for the "impact drill" / light combo in the Masters site. It says XT18CD2BS which is listed on Triton's website: http://www.triton.net.au/en-AU/Product/Power%20Tools/Triton%….

Now do the same for the hammer drill in the other combo. It says XT18CD2B which is listed on Triton's website: http://www.tritontools.com/en-AU/Product/Power%20Tools/Trito…

They are the same drill as far as I can tell. In other words, for the purposes of this promotion, impact drill = hammer drill.

This is the Triton 18v impact driver: http://www.tritontools.com/en-AU/Product/Power%20Tools/Trito…

        • @Nomadesque:

          Read post above by Luckypenguine:

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/259620#comment-3894936

Seems the XT18CD2BS has some kind of extra delay feature on the LED lamp.

        • Having just picked up my hammer drill / multi tool combo from Masters, I can confirm that I received an XT18CD2BS drill with a delay on the LED under the chuck. I also have a 1.5Ah battery despite the box saying that it has a 1.3Ah battery.

My original point being; if you already own a hammer drill and were hoping to obtain an impact driver by buying it with the LED work light, you purchased the wrong thing.

Anyway, the bundle looks like a solid piece of kit for the price. Did a few test cuts with the multi tool and 10mm holes with the drill in a hardwood off cut and both performed well. I'll be on the look out for other specials in future if Masters continues to circle the bowl.

        • @Nomadesque: thats weird. I got one myself and my battery was a 1.3ah

        • Yeah, the box mine was in was fairly banged up and they didn't have any more on the shelves (did C&C at Majura Park Canberra). Probably got a mish-mash of various display units and they just threw the nearest spare battery in there. I think some of the other Triton kits come with 1.5Ah batteries (e.g. drill & impact driver combo).

        • @llama: my kit had the XT18CD2B and has a delay on LED

  • Any knows how long the triton deals will run for? My local masters told me they will get some stock in on wednesday even though their website shows stock (probably hasn't been updated yet).

    • Put a comment in the wrong place. Dont know how to delete.

  • Need a tool to fix a few broken tiles around the house. Sorry, asking many questions here as my knowledge with tools is practically non existence.

    (1) Is the "multi tool" any good to remove grout around the tiles?
    (2) Is the "http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4-x-Carbide-Grout-Saw-Blades-Oscillating-for-Fein-Dewalt-Decker-Bosch-Multitool-/361563416367?hash=item542edbe72f:g:VowAAOSwvg9XfgfX" the right "grout blades" for the "multi tool"?

    Thanks!

  • Can confirm that some tools are now 60% off. Managed to score a 75pc Stanley socket drive set with 1/4 & 3/8 drive for $30, as well as 246pc Kobalt drill and drive set for $23.60.

The clearances should be nation wide, stock will vary from store to store.

    • Hi mate were the prices displayed or did you have to ask around? Cheers

      • +1

Displayed mate. They've got a whole bunch of tables set up to the left of the tools help desk, this is where you will find the specials. They're not down the aisles.

  • This looks suspiciously similar to the Black & Decker kit that was $99 a while back… they all get them from the same factory now??

  • +1

Guy at Masters told me that in the next 2-3 weeks, Masters will be doing up to 80-90% off various items as they're trying to clear off everything. Not sure how true it was but seemed like an honest bloke.

    • So they will do clamp sales? 20 mitre saw anyone?

      • Not sure. I overhead a staff say that to one of his buddies but noticed me listening in so he told me as well. He said was actually thinking of hiding some items so on the day him/his buddy could buy it (sorta kidding but serious look)

    • Can confirm this is also correct, stock dependant.

  • Need a drill cleaner for the bathroom

  • Damnit - picked this up at $69.95 over the weekend and thought that was a good deal.

Used it to drill a lot of concrete (with a proper masonry drill bit) over the weekend for mounting on concrete walls - worked well.

  • Can we use this as a screwdriver

    • +2

Can we use this as a screwdriver

If you like. However it's a lot heavier, more expensive and cumbersome than using a normal screwdriver.

You can also use it as a hammer, too.

      • I have done this on the rare occasion, with car to make sure I didn't break the thing. I wasn't actually trying to drive nails of course :)

  • I all ready have 18v li-ion drill from Aldi but not hammer, I brought this for multitool, individually both tools were about $130. Great value for $40.

  • Thanks OP
i got my order delivered yesterday.
will keep it in garage in a faith, that i will use it some day.

    • Which kit did you get? do they come with a case?

      • i got Hammer Drill & Multi Tool Kit for 40$ from masters ebay handle.
Nope didn't came with a case.

        • Ok thanks. ALso does the battery has built-in charge indicator? Maybe only the 2.0A has it.

        • @ahok: yes it do have a built in power guage indicator

        • @APN Adelaide: thanks, mine hasn't ship yet, bought from their website not the ebay one. Their customer service is atrocious.

        • I ordered on Monday 1st (over a week ago). They called today to say that they're cancelling my order as they don't have any stock.

        • @GunnerMcDagget: no wonder they're going bust.

  • Finally went and picked mine up today. I needed to work light (in the "Impact Drill" kit) and the hammer drill (in the "Combi Hammer Kit") so bought both. Didn't check them on pick up and drove home 30 mins to find out they are the same drill :(

Oh well another 1 hour round trip to get a refund on the Hammer Drill kit. Woolworths opened Masters in some really strange and out of the way locations. :S
