Can't decide between your deal or this one… Decisions!!

This one is better since it's 4k now instead of the original Xbox's 720P the file size for games will go by around 5.5times. so a 50gb game maybe 250 to 300gb?

      • +1

You are aware that it doesn't support 4k games right? It's just 4k blu-ray and video.

A console won't be able to support 4k reliably for a while I assume if it can barely push 1080p.

        • -5

Isnt these console upgrades to support 4k?

what you mean barely pushing 1080P? PS4s are 2013 technology and it's doing 1080P with no issues.

        • @suicine94: 4k Ultra HD

With four times the resolution of standard HD 4k Ultra HD delivers the clearest, most realistic video possible. Stream 4k content on Netflix and Amazon Instant Video and watch Ultra HD Blu-rayTM movies in stunning visual fidelity with High Dynamic Range.

          you should do some reading.

      • +2

The only difference is an extra $100 for 500GB more storage.

Depends on how opposed you are to attaching an external drive.

      • +1

        Uhhh. No.

Nothing changes with the games. They will ALL upscale to 4K. The only new addition this machine is capable of (with a compatible TV) is HDR. The games will NOT change at all until Project Scorpio releases - then they will start releasing 4K games.

      • storage has nothing to do with resolution of games, all development engines have scalability in them and most will have been tested in the PC version at 4k, so it's likely just some work on the developers end to implement. The only thing that will increase in size is pre-rendered assets, which are becoming less and less common these days.

Same price as MSS, and I imagine every other retailer once they start to list stock. Probably better off waiting for retailers who are going to offer a discount or extra pack in titles.

    https://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msaus/en_AU/pdp/Xbox-On…

For what it is the price is good, I just don't see how RRP is a bargain and this feels like a series of product announcements more so than deal posts.

    • For what it is the price is good, I just don't see how RRP is a bargain and this feels like a series of product announcements more so than deal posts.

Nothing really wrong with product announcements as long as they add something new to the market.

Think of it as: here's the cheapest 4K Blu-ray player.

      • +1

Sure, but traditionally ozbargains not a place for product announcements.

    • As you said for what it is is a good price. so why is it not a bargain? where does it say RRP is not bargain.

EG. the Woollies and Coles 2L milk is $2. That is a bargain as it is a good price for 2L of milk. Whats wrong with RRP?

      • +2

Because every store will offer this price. I like the Xbox and at $400 think they are worth it, but if this is the RRP it's not a bargain. Below RRP or with extra pack ins would be. This post, and the other one posted today, are really suited for forum discussions.

I buy plenty of products at RRP because I feel the RRP is fair and the product good, but unless only one retailer offers the product I wouldn't say it's a bargain. I can't imagine stock will even be overly scarce.

Edit: To add, someone posted a deal on the 2TB one that if their math is correct, comes out to $512. In my opinion thats a bargain not only for the 2TB model, but makes the 1TB model seem overpriced at $499. - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/259011.

Whilst not a dupe, it was clearly listed in the other deal

    • -3

No, in the other deal it isn't clear in the Title, so people had to click inside to find out about this bargain.

      • +1

Yep, you're right, they had to click through the deal with the cheaper price to find out about the more expensive model.

Not worthy of it's own post.

        • You can't compare, one is 500GB and this one is double that. it's 2 products and different people like different ones. people not interested in 500GB consoles will not know about this deal unless it is created as a new deal since they wouldn't have clicked into the other one to find out.

          @suicine94:

Or you know, given it was for the same store, we could've just put the 1TB price in the title rather than needing a separate post for it. Especially as it's all just launch RRP anyway and the same offer can be bought direct from Microsoft with free delivery.

        • @Spackbace:

I don't know why the other OP did or didn't include something but that's not up to me.

I came across this deal. thought it was good, and posted it here to share with everyone. that's it.

        • @Spackbace:

To prove this is common practise on this site look at this deal posted on the 15th.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/257463

At the bottom they talk about 2TB Xbox S for $539.

But then today this same deal came up

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/259011.

Don't know why you so against this deal.

      • +1

Technically neither are bargains, just informative posts regarding the Xbox One S release price…

  • +4

I come here for bargains, not RRP…

    • -6

But the RRP is a bargain, I'm sure most people would of assumed this new model will be more expensive than this.

Are Woolies and Coles $2 for 2L milk a bargain? it is right? but it's RRP but still bargain.

      • No, it's not a bargain, if I posted $2 Milk as a deal on "OzBargain" do you think it'd be left on the site as a bargain?

  • 2 last gen titles…zzzzzzzzz

  • +1

    Why is this a bargain?

For $100 more you get this
    https://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msaus/en_AU/pdp/Xbox-On…

The Xbox One S Gears of War 4 Limited Edition Bundle1 includes:

Custom 2TB Xbox One S console
    Limited-edition Crimson Omen controller
Gears of War 4: Ultimate Edition full game download
    14-day Xbox Live Gold Trial
Free download of entire Xbox 360 Gears of War collection

    • Cos not everyone like gears of war

This one's just console and controller and it's $50 more, but it's also 2TB.

        • No Halo

        • +1

          @suicine94:

2 Halo games are worth $50.

          So:
          500GB Halo Bundle - $399
          1TB Halo Bundle - $499
          2TB Console - $549
          2TB GOW Console - $599

In terms of $$/GB, the 2TB console standalone is the best deal.

This post is $100 more than the 500GB, for 500GB more. Yet pay another $100 and you get 1TB more, plus limited edition console.

  • Wait wait wait.. Hold on a sec, do you get Halo 5 AND Halo 5: Guardians??!?!?!?!?!
