Pretty crap on E460. Has been much cheaper in the past.

    • Not with our dollar this bad.

By past I mean about 4 weeks ago. The dollar was no different then.

The cheaper ones don't seem especially good value TBH, and they hugely overcharge to improve anything ($100 for a 128gb ssd, $50 to go from 4GB to 8GB of RAM, etc).

  • The T560 is a great workhorse of a laptop with a battery life over 15+ hours (I think) with the 6-cell battery.

You can get it for $1650 if you have an affinity discount account or if you have a corporate account it's even cheaper.

    • T560 is a great workhorse

Nothing with a 'U' processor is a workhorse.

      • True. I guess the P50 is more appropriate. I thought this had a quad core CPU, but that apparently is only in the t460p.

        • I thought this had a quad core CPU

The issue isn't with cores, but with TDP. Core performance is irrelevant if laptop's battery is depleted, hence Intel's U, H and Y variants for lower power consumption.

        • @AlexF:

I don't quite understand what you mean.

The reason why I called the laptop a workhorse is because I thought it had an Intel HQ "quad core" processor. The final TDP is directly correlated with how many cores there are.
More cores = higher TDP. The 6700HQ has a 45W TDP, but I believe Lenovo has configured it to cap at 35W TDP.

I'm not talking about battery life. I'm talking about performance. I would say most workstation laptops sit in one place.

        • More cores = higher TDP.

Not necessarily, because clock speed also affects TDP - consider ARM's (bigLittle) 8 cores.

.. workhorse is because I thought it had an Intel HQ "quad core" processor.

Practically, because of TDP, more cores does not (necessarily) mean higher performance - Apple's ARM implementation with 3 cores outperforms others' ARM implementation with more cores, including Exynos Octa.

        • @AlexF:

          ok. I understand.

I was referring to processors in laptops, but that makes sense for those mobile chips.

I'm still waiting for a good deal on Yoga 260.

@tightarse, any chance to negotiate for OZB? :)

    • Also waiting on this. Not sure why the 460 always seems to go on sale but not the 260.
Bought a 260 a few months ago but waiting for the price to drop to make a price protection claim on the old coles mastercard!!

      • What do you think about the 260? Any specific issues after using it for a few months?

        • +1

Really happy with the laptop overall and would definitely recommend if you're after a smaller/relatively lightweight laptop with an active digitiser. The 360 degree flip thing comes in handy too if you want to use it as a tablet.
Only complaint is that the keyboard doesn't feel like a "real" Thinkpad keyboard.
The price is definitely up there as well but seems to be the only kind of product that really fits all these criteria at the time.

  • ahh still gutted missed out on the yoga 460 last month was 300 cheaper than this !:(
