    • interesting site Tom.

not sure if i like the plain english search. (and the fact it doesnt deal w return)
and having to select the return from a drop down which is limited to +9 days (in my test case i cant select a suitable return)

whats the workflow for my situation?
      syd - sea 21 Aug
      sea -syd 14 sep

Still like skyscanners search better, but maybe its cause ive used it more..

classic seach airports should populate names on typing..
the jump screen to virgins site needs to auto refresh (or be more loud that action is needed), I didnt realise i had to click anything and thought it had crapped out.

still, likely to go into my bag of tricks for flight hunting..

      • Hey there,

        Many thanks for the feedback.

Most of the points you mention are issues we're are aware of, and which are being addressed in the rebuild we're doing at the moment, though a few of them are good reminders of things we need to focus on.

We'll be sticking with natural langage search - for people who get it and like it it's a hugely compelling feature and big differentiator from sites like Kayak and Skyscanner. It's also the only practical way to support open-ended queries like "Sydney to Anywhere", "Sydney to South-East Asia", "Sydney to Brisbane next Thursday night or Friday morning". Of course we're well aware the natural language parser needs to be markedly improved, and that's happening right now.

As for the SYD-SEA use-case you mentioned, we're currently limited to 3 months' inventory on VA. We're re-engineering the data-store to allow us to handle much more data (ie, more airlines, destinations and complete 12-months timeframes) and serve responses extremely fast.

We're setting out to offer something very different to the current offerings - particularly for budget-conscious travellers with flexibility on dates and destinations. We're not there yet, but for a team of 3 (2 until recently) on a shoestring budget, we're giving it a good shake :)

Thanks again for your comments… glad to hear you're still willing to give us a go, I hope we can serve up the goods for you real soon.

        Cheers!
        Tom

  • Not sure why, but don't see V Australia flights at that price point?

  • It's always great to see Flights to the US under $1000. Hopefully I'll be able to bag myself one of these next year.

  • such a shame the AUD keeps dropping against the USD… then again, I suppose if the AUD was still up around 0.90-0.95 USD the flights wouldn't be sooo cheap!

Great price for flights to LAX anyway!

    • I wouldn't say the fares have changed because of the dollar fall this week. They've been trending down for a while. Plus a lower dollar would actually be more likely to make prices rise to keep the real value the same, demand is the main issue.

  • are these return flights . sorry :D
    i am noob :D

    • Yes, they are return :-)

  • What visa(s) do i need to enter America?

I wanna go, be just like borat.

    • +1

As an Australian citizen you don't need a visa. You can enter on a 90-day visa-waiver (you must leave on or before the 89th day), which allows leisure or business activity, just not 'work' (ie, paid employment).

Before you travel to the USA you need to complete the ESTA form, which is a pre-qualification process to ensure you conform to entry requirements (eg, no criminal record, etc). This is quick and FREE - don't fall for any of the scams that charge you for 'assistance'.

  • I'm going to the middle east in August (hopefully) and a one way ticket costs me a few hundred more! :/

    • -1

probably for the best mate, good luck ever getting thru immigration in USA with a middle east stamp in your passport ;-) well, at least expect to spend a few hours having a friendly chat after you're pulled over for a "random" check

      • the middle east isnt just Pakistan/Iran. :)

I was on the US profile/suspicious list when travelling thru the US for a few years. a bit of a hassel.
finally seems like Ive been taken off it. and theyve actually been super friendly!

The UK on the other hand.. agh

        • the middle east isnt just Pakistan/Iran. :)

aye, if I can get past Israeli officials I think I can handle them Yanks :-)
Unfortunately for some people the only "overseas" they'll ever know is NZ/USA/Bali or Tasmania or whatever they see on shows like Airport or Border Security :-)

  • Any ideas on when specials will be out to the US for January?

  • I don't see any flights for the prices listed?

  • not good travel to usa now, as aud around 82 cent now
