Just want to know for those who have one if this is normal or not that the drive turns it sell off (Light goes off) when I am still using the computer but not the drive. When I access the drive the it turns back on. I just thought it would say on all the time until the computer goes to sleep or turns off

EDIT: USB disk drives will always spin down when not in use. The only way to keep them spinning while they are attached, is to write a small cron shell script that writes to the disk periodically. For example, you could make a text file and keep adding to the text file. This will prevent the drive from sleeping. You can also use apps like this

Wait until the drive is completely inaccessible. Then the fun really starts.

Control Panel > Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Settings > Hard Disk > Change to your preference.
