  • doesnt seem great at all!

msy sells them for cheaper single!

think i paid about 3.50 per disc, will hold off on the neg until i find an example.

    • MSY's cheapest 25Gb blu-ray blank disc is a Ritek at $6 each. This offer is 10 discs for $41 with free postage, so $4.10 per disc.

      Therefore MSY is not cheaper.

Good deal I guess but as for me I'm not quite ready to swap to bluray burning just quite yet.
$41 for 10 reminds me of when DVDs were astronomical.
Will wait for the time when its $1-2 per disc :)
    Cheers for the post +

The main problem with blu-ray media is that it's far more expensive than hard drive storage. $41 for 10 discs is very good (assuming they're good quality). $82 for 500Gb of storage. A 1Tb hard drive costs just $95 (Officeworks) or $85 in specialist shops for the bare drive.

Optical media used to be the cheapest way to store data. Now it's quite expensive. Pity.

  • And How long does it take to burn 1 blu-ray disc (25GB) ?

    • good question LOL

    • If your blu-ray burner can burn at 4X (60-minutes divided by 4) as these discs can, A disc should be completed in 15-minutes.

  • Its good for anyone wanting to backup heaps of video. My HD camera makes huge files and I am always worried about the loss of family movies. +v

    • If you're going to backup important data, please consider using two blu-ray discs of different brands. Cheap optical media can fail after a few years in storage, and it's difficult to predict which manufacturer will make a faulty batch and when.

Convert them to Xvid using AutoGK.

  • i am tempted to buy this but then I have to find a BD burner to use with them :)

    • with blue ray burners now at a couple hundred bux, its a decent time to buy… that said i haven't burned anything with mine yet and have only watched one blue ray for the sake of watching a blue ray.

  • Is there a limit to how much I can buy?

    • limited 5 per customer

  • hmm $41 for 10 bluray discs of 25gb…. so 250gb all up for $41….

You can pick up a 1tb hard drive for about double the price, a smaller size but still bigger than the discs for just slightly…

I guess this will be the proper death of optical media for computer usage for myself.

    • they will come down… to about 1 dollar a disc, (id wager) so 1 dollar for 25 GB hdd based on 1TB for 100 bux is about 1 dollar per ten gig, by the time optical media comes down, it will probably be onpar with 2TB for 100 Bux…

the problem with HDDs is that you can only fit so many in your machine at a time and they are (typically) less portable.

though with a docking station they may be a good alternative as they are much faster anyway.
