Yes, but what about the e-book reader? ;-)

mr_asstight probably has some very good reasons to believe that size does matter.

    • that's what she said

Looks like a no brand Kobo ereader …Boarders Australia (see their site) have Kobo for $199+Free Delivery as of today.

    • +1

This has 2GB internal memory(SD card up to 32GB), Kobo ereader 1GB internal(SD card up to 4GB)

Kobo ereader has 2 more additional selectable font sizes, bluetooth, and has a quilted back, instead of plastic.

The Anydigital ereader says i can play music, have photos, can read more file formats. Also some added features which kobo ereader don't mention to have like save bookmark, delete bookmark, calendar, G-sensor, skip read, screen rotate, autoplay.

      • Even though it can display pictures, to be honest I would not say it is a great feature of any eBook reader - pictures on E Ink screens are nothing special, though it was a feature already built-in so we took it.

We feel our offer has some great features which many do not have, while keeping it as a mostly basic eBook reader, and that seems to be what a lot of people want.

As you said, there are a lot of things to compare!

        • What brand is the e-reader?

          • @takezo: This unit is not branded, its one way costs are kept down

            • @Anydigital Online: Fair enough. Are there any other branded devices using the same hardware? Would be nice to be able to read some reviews on the product, as the spec sheet doesn't usually paint the whole picture.

              • @takezo: Not that I know of sorry, I have not seen a brand who has put this model into a press release type situation as yet. We are possibly looking to brand and market them later this year though that is not much help right now unfortunately. Let us know if you find any reviews.

  • Lots of things to compare, and Kobo doesn't seem to be clear on their tech specs. http://www.koboereader.com/tech-specs.html

I've always wondered why ebooks are so expensive. Why would I buy an ebook when I can buy a netbook for $300. Personally I'd love to see them around the $80 mark then I would consider buying one.

They are for different uses. An ereader is far ligher and more compact, and it has a totally different screen. Most people could not sit and read a book on an LCD back lit netbook screen, where as the better ereaders have E Ink which is as if you are looking at paper. Another thing is battery life, you can turn the page 1000's of times with most ereaders, so they are much better for travelling, where as you would need to charge a netbook after a good session of reading.

Agreed. E-ink is massively different to an lcd screen. Anyone who wonders why e-ink screen is any better for reading obviously hasn't seen one before.

        • Yep. Well that sums me up. lol!
